Two boxers and gentlemen with so much class. I never knew Ray Robinson that well, but from what I can see here, he surely acts like a role model. He may be the greatest pound for pound ever, Sugar Ray. With his idol, the sensational brown bomber, Joe Louis. Joe louis also, indeed a man of respect, courage and someone to admire. God I wish they were still alive. Almost tear up seeing Joe Louis on the screen. Wish there were more like them in modern day boxing. Maybe I'm thinking too deeply into it but- when Ray mentions the good habits, training hard and clean living, it shows Joe looking down- I think that specific praise hit him hard, maybe it was one he hadn't really heard before. Inspiring someone to be a fighter is one thing, I'm sure he got that kind of feedback a lot, but to inspire good habits and clean living in someone who was a boy at the time is really powerful stuff in its own way. I love the way people sounded back then I mean sure things in some ways were worse they were also better and in my opinion as whole were better. Something I notice that's different from now and then, is that back then people used to be more reliant on themselves rather than the government when a women was beat by her husband and the male relatives were told of her beatings they would go on over and beat up the husbands and even kill the husband and since it wasn't illegal to beat your wife until the 1970's there'd a rule of thumb of the community that when it came to matters like these to keep quiet when the police came to questioning on what happened to the abusive husband. Sure there was racism and sexism but the community was what made up where there would be segregation but at the same time it was common for kids of colour and who were white to play side by side in the streets growing up and for people to be friends across the races not everyone was as racist back then as people say they were. The world was a different place and to look at it through the modern day lens of law and rights you won't understand the whole situation since well people compromised you know. Inflation was lower things were cheaper and to become wealthy as a poor farmers boy was a very real possibility
