Indeed. As a more of a "traditionalist" martial artist, I don't like a lot of these MMA martial artists and coaches shooting off their mouths when they do not always know what they are talking about. Zahabi is a refreshing exception. He does not do Gracie-like ridiculous - often false - self promotions, slandering of other martial artists/martial arts, etc and just teaches.
@VSM1017 жыл бұрын
John Locke actually he exsplains the advantages and disadvantaged every martial art you know nothing about him if you think he hates jujitsu he's actually what most MMA choaches are like your just projecting your own biases on people you never met.

Conrats, Shane. What an honor to have Coach Zahabi on your show. And what a chill, genuine guy. I'm a big fan of his team and his KZbin channel, and I'm not surprised. Love this variation on the sprawl, and his laughing at the spar/freeze dilemma was the best defuser I can imagine. Who hasn't been terrified or exhausted or frozen with thinking in sparring? Laughing and going again is the best advice. Great start to the new year. Thanks!

Best thing for "freezing up" for me was isolation sparring with limited power - I froze up too my first few sparring sessions, but then we were instructed to do bodywork with only light jabs to the head, than we added crosses, hooks and so on... it really helped, felt like each transition was smooth and I always had fun. once you've done bodywork and know it's not a big deal, having to defend against a jab here and there is rather fun an you have room for fuck ups and experimentation.
