Firas just went too hard and had a stance where you can't see shots that are coming, but the tradeoff is that you have no guard and can be knocked out with a heavy hook - a stance that only works in sparring when you're trolling and know the opponent won't try to actually knock you out. It was actually kinda disrespectful.

@The Forms: you know, i have to respectfully disagree. First, i would say that Firas is a world class coach and he knows exactly how much pressure to put on someone. Next, i could tell just by watching that Shane was really nervous and he wasn't giving his best because of it (which is perfectly fair) and Firas putting on some heat eventually drew Shane out of his nervousness and into the sparring. Plus, Shane is putting himself out there as a fight coach. Its perfectly reasonable that we get to see what Shane looks like under pressure. And coach Zahabi is a bigger guy with quite decades of world class experience across multiple disciplines: he can apply a lot of pressure. Which brings me to my final point: if you think Firas was bullying Shane then you are mistaken. Shane actually did really damn good. He caught Firas a few times. He defended well against Firas a few times. Firas is bigger, longer, and way more seasoned, but Shane made a very respectable showing of himself.

Firas is my coach as well (grappling). What I can say, after many years of watching him spar the best pros in the world, is that he could be a high level competitor. I have watched him technically decimate great fighters time and time again. Many people ask me, “Firas never competed in mma, how do we know he is credible?” I always say, pick a fighter and watch him spar with Firas. You realize within minutes that he could compete in the UFC, if he chose to. Also, he is a Canadian Muay Thai champion, who in my opinion is a superior grappler. Respect coach.

Working in corner is not same as traning him. When you think about grapling, you think about his traniner Danaher. Firas is his main traner, but he also train with specialist. Also Firas said it better to train one day with specialst from some field than 100 day byself, when he trained with EDDIE Cuming heel hook. @@paragon1782 Yep, soft sparring is the way to go, and from what you write, I can tell you've done a lot of sparring. Giovanni, you haven't got any idea what you're talking about man. What we talked about was the uneven intensity and how Firas sabotaged this sparring session to look cool, which is something you can *feel* if you've done as much sparring as I have. Please don't talk about this unless you've done hundreds of hours of sparring with different partners. It's painfully obvious that Firas is showing off and semi-competing, while fight tips is going soft and doesn't have the same intentions. When someone is holding back, it's super disrespectful to go for a style with your hands down and slapping punches the way Firas did here. It's a way of saying: "because you're allowing me to get away with nonsense, I'm gonna do it and make you pay for it". No, just respect that this is his video channel and you're gonna do some playful sparring to show off techniques. Its so difficult to find an open space to hit on Firas, with his deffence. I wish you can make a video anout how to break that defense Shane. Great sparring to you both, you are both champs. Cheers brothers.

Woah his tips about "home base" have come at the perfect time. This just popped up randomly after im in the middle of the fight camp and currently trying to plan for when getting overwhelmed in the battle. Its so true, even a second of pondering a punch or taking a barrage on the guard can make you lose your witts and thats great to hear it from someone so experienced

When sparring someone way above you, there is a definite mixture of demoralization and intimidation that can arise, but it's ultimately a worthwhile and educational experience.

Zahabi is one if not the best coaches out there, and he is very smart and fit, but I respect Shane, like madly cause Zahabi is considerably larger, and Large, Smart and Swift is a combo anyone could find hard to spar with flow. so I really respect Shane on that, but I think what really was going on with Shane was that He had a lot of respect for Firas, and they didn't really decide how hard and fast they'll spar, and with Firas overwhelming him with all the angle cutting and long arm reach, Shane was sort of on Auto-pilot, I think a good idea is to have shane rewatch this and do a rematch while clearly dictating the level of speed and power (seriousness) before it and I'm 100% sure Shane will be more comfortable and will do much more, Mad respect for both

This was a good sparring session. I think both really enjoyed and learned a lot. I liked the footwork and angling from Firas that made Shane a little too late to respond and was more focussing on defence instead of offence. But I also like Shane never giving up in the pocket and get his defence tight and focused. Like sparring. Very nice!

Spar in a controlled safe manner while still pushing each other and then afterwards break it all down with one another discussing the techniques and strategies used in order for everyone to grow and progress. i am a Beginner in Boxing and i used to fight in MMA i was undefeated and a lot of what Firas says is what i learned out of experience now i have had more then 100 fights and won 97% of them hence my knowledge on fighting and my strats so i want to share a few here and mind you these are not all of them. Fight enough/spar enough to know what's coming: when he says chill and let the opponent touch you this is true you read the opponent that way and test them i used to do this for 30sec or maybe a minute then bam i would have had a read on the opponent now when you have made a read then you can implement an attack accordingly. example: guy is fast well usually he lacks power then i tend to find my range and land her shots body and head or bulldoze them with overhands to take downs then, if the guy hits hard like i mean powerful then defend and attack in flurries while avoiding the power hand i also liked throwing combo's then take the opponent down cause big power can't do much on the ground. i have a load more but those are my secrets.
