Now I know why the virtual plane on the HSI has that shape and size. during the approach you have them laying on top of the horizon, during flare the under side of the vertical part touches the horizon. much more easy then looking at the VS. never noticed that befor. Thanks for this amazing series of tutorials

A great tutorial that I wish I'd found months ago! You've managed to explain landings in a very simple and understandable way, while providing detailed information on how to master this tricky phase of flight. I really liked that you've covered crosswind landings too. Many thanks, I'm looking forward to your next video. Just had a few questions from the video: How far from touchdown do you normally disengage the AP to make the landing? When would you choose a flap 3 landing instead of a flap 4 landing? Would you use the ailerons into the wind to level the wings while applying the rudder in a crosswind landing? Would you please make tutorials on the different kinds of approach: RNAV, VOR/DME, and circle-to-land at some point in the future? They would be much appreciated.

Thank you and I am very pleased it was useful! I will give short answers as I am going to do a follow up video to answer some questions :) 1. In the conditions shown in the video I would probably disconnect anywhere on the ILS but before 300ft. As it is single pilot I usually leave the autopilot to fly when configuring (gear/flaps etc) in X Plane! 2. Flap 3 has its uses but needs a longer runway as you land faster with less drag. I shall talk about it in my video. 3. The flight control law on the airbus should keep the wings level when applying rudder, you can see I used aileron to put the upwind wheel down first but that was all. Again a more detailed answer in the video I shall make. This is all unofficial of course and just for us flight simulator enthusiasts! Thank you for the requests, I shall add them to the list.

@@320SimPilot Many thanks for the answers to my questions. I look forward to your follow up video to complete the picture - my landings are coming along very nicely thanks to your help! :). Would you mind discussing the differences between landing the 319, 320 and 321 in your follow up video? I wondered if you'd start the flare a bit lower than 30ft with a smaller and lighter aircraft. Thanks again.

I can definitely tell you’ve done this a time or two. Lol. Very nice landing. Did my first take off and landing in the A321 today. Took a lot of getting used to. Had no idea how to use autopilot or setup my ILS approach to Rwy 09L into KATL. But, manual landing was actually rather easy compared to the 737-800 I’ve been flying.

Hey there, I have the Toliss. I am just wondering do the controller sensitivity settings and curves help in anyway, and if they do what do you recommend for buttering and landing the aircraft well and realisticly!
@320SimPilot4 жыл бұрын
I must confess so far I haven't changed the settings for the sidestick, so default for the Thrustmaster HOTAS 4. This has felt pretty good to me for flying with the sidestick. However I am finding the rudder too sensitive so will have to try and change it!

@peterlazuric56413 жыл бұрын
Let me see if I got this right. For a left Xwind landing on final instead of using left rudder for crabbing could you use left aileron, no more then 7 degrees and right rudder to keep the nose straight for final approach and flare.

My landings are usually good enough in terms of V speed, but I usually am too far off from the centerline. I usually correct this sort off by using the rudder, but the middle landing gear ends up next to the centerline, whereas the nose wheel will end up at the centerline because of the rudder correction I’m doing. However, I want both to be in the centerline, is it better to use the ailerons for that? Or do I just have to apply more rudder?

Hi. Thank you. Another brilliant tutortial A321 video. Could I just ask if you do leave the auto pilot engaged untill only 300 feet above the ground, or in real life, do you disengage the A/P further out from the runway?. Please keep these exellent videos coming. Regards.
@320SimPilot4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching. In real life it depends on the weather, if you are visual and what sort of landing it is. In the conditions in the video probably a bit earlier! I will provide a more in depth answer in a future video soon :)

Hi, I have a question if you don’t mind. So how can I do the approach phase without continuously decreasing altitude with the Altitude Knob? I just want the autopilot to follow the data from the FMGS (and descent according to the STAR). But all it does is just following what the knob says. Can you help?
@yannisl82594 жыл бұрын
When close to the top of descent (about 5-10 nm) select a lower altitude and push the button. Set it to the lowest altitude and it will go. First it decend at 1000 fpm until it reaches the required descent path

i have setup of thrust reversers for xplane11, but it is not working with toliss. how do you do your reverses?
@320SimPilot4 жыл бұрын
Hi Edward. I currently use 'F1' to select reverse. In the ToLiss plugin menu, on the 'sound/actions joystick' tab there is an option called 'F1/F2 can toggle reversers'. I use this so when my thrust levers are at idle I press F1 to start Reverse thrust. When my thrust levers are at reverse idle I can press F2 to go back to forward idle. I hope this helps!

Hello! First of all, thanks for the great video. I keep wondering what I'm doing wrong, because I don't ALWAYS have the problem, only sometimes. Correct QNH is turned in, diamond is visible, I press APPR and activate AP2, the aircraft turns towards the final, but immediately afterwards it turns right off course and flies away from the ILS, so to speak. As soon as I deactivate APPR again, it comes back halfway on course, as soon as I activate APPR again, it turns away again. What's going on there? I'm really desperate. : / Thank you and have a nice evening sir

How common is it in real life to land with flaps 3 and what would effect wether you would or wouldn’t? Great video :)

I shall answer more in depth in a video but it might be used if windshear was expected on approach. Flap 3 of course needs more runway to land but in the A321 I quite like it for landing.

Thanks for this. decieding to buy this or the A319 version. We live in the west in 21st century where anytime we say anything we preface it with qualifiers and suffix more qualifiers, for legal, snowflake, PC and of course the troll. This is my opinion only today, and only to be taken as such. I might not agree by the time you read this.
