I don't know where kamayan feast came from but we call this boodle fight back home in the Philippines and with so much more selection of food than what was served here. There's usually assorted meat dishes along with grilled, fried or steamed fish/meat/veggies, freshly cut mangoes, cucumbers/tomatoes/onions/chilis seasoned with salt, black pepper and vinegar. This originated out in the military as their communal feast and they called it boodle fight because you literally have to "fight"( a friendly one at that) everyone to get the food/dishes you want to eat. Good way to bond and show camaraderie. But yes, you do use your hands to eat so maybe that's why they called it kamayan feast.
@LukeVincentNeri2 жыл бұрын
exactly, we never call it kamayan. But for bisaya, kinamot is close.
@obiwanshinobi93682 жыл бұрын
it originated in the PH army actually. and some soldiers introduced it to their family and friends and thus, boodle fights was born

it also might be from the restaurant named Kamayan in Southern Luzon area whose theme is Filipino food eaten the traditional way
@kjon25032 жыл бұрын
Actually KAMAYAN is the original word used eversince during the old days, later on the word Boodle Fight (fight for your food and eat fast) was introduce by Military (During Erap Estradas Regime) in the later generation. In my opinion I would still prefer Kamayan because the other one has a slight negative connotation to it.
@nicodishiznit2 жыл бұрын
It's actually the original term for that.. the boodle fight was later introduced I believe. And yes, we have this restaurant named "Kamayan sa Palaisdaan" here in Quezon province.

Although I discourage my friends to not smoke or drink, I do not have the authority to tell them how to live their lives and same goes to weed users. Is it cancerous? Yes. No. But legalization in the Philippines puts out people do decide whether to use it or not, I'm not physiatrist nor graduated in bachelor of google but there's something in it.

That was hardly the pool party we planned for afterwards. So dosage is important! There is such a thing as TOO MUCH. Hope more cookbooks come out with instructions on what to use and how much...per person...each of the dishes contains. There were cookies for those who wanted just a little bit more....everybody passed on them. We also bought some infused coffee for afterwards....Guess it should have been a SATIVA coffee...

Legalization would open the door for pardons of a severely inhumane and overcrowded jail system, it would mean homegrown research into medical treatments from Cannabis, it would mean that having pot would not put you at risk against the extremely punitive war or drugs. That said, to there's so much more cultural and social work that needs to be done before the idea of legalization or even decriminalization can be approached here. Like that frankly backward notion that it's a gateway drug, or that it's tied to vagrancy or criminality.
