This is why Philippines is a unique country, Holiday season is a big deal to every Filipino, and firecrackers it a tradition we inherited way back from Chinese culture and it’s said that it drives bad fortunes away and that is why we celebrate Christmas and New year with a Bang, you can also see every streets and every houses are busy lots of people everywhere celebrating, partying and will definitely not enjoy it without karaoke singing 😂🎉❤, it is our way of enjoying the whole year of struggles and hard work it is a reflection of our resiliency, hope you can experience this unique tradition soon 😊Love from the Philippines!

When I'm younger I remember how I love how we celebrate Christmas and New Year because you feel that everyone is celebrating with you. But as you grow older, you slowly realize the pros and cons of everything. Just like for most of us in SEA wanted to experience snow at least once in our lives, those who are living in countries with snow are having difficulty or struggle in daily basis.

From the the 90's it's like a war zone of fireworks for hours here in the Philippines but now it's more tame and peaceful but still a site to see and experience in person rather than watching on videos and if you roam around before and after the countdown Filipino family will invite you to celebrate with them and offer drinks and foods

Yeah, I remember before, fireworks don't stop if the sun ain't out yet. It was already in late 2000's when firework bans were enacted that most firework displays only happen on the first hour of the new year. Wahhh, I almost forgot it was far crazier back then. 😅😅

I have a Filipina friend, and as far as I know, Filipinos favorite celebrations are Christmas and New Year. New Year is especially important, as it's their way of saying goodbye to the past and welcoming the future with a bang. Making noise with firecrackers and fireworks is believed to ward off negative energy and usher in good luck for the new year. Each household joins the revelry, jumping and blasting their speakers to chase away negativity and embrace the new year.

As part of NY celebration in PH, NY countdowns are set up in diff locations featuring diff artists so if you want to see ur fav one for free just look online for the lineups & locations normally posted just a few days before Dec 31. This year, BGC features KZ, KPop Girl Group Red something... while in Mkti was Moresette, SB 19, etc, in QC Circle were Vice Ganda etc, in Okada Hotel open grounds (free) were Kyla & Eric Santos ( one we attended) , the paid one at the Grand Ballroom were Piolo Pascual, Moira etc, while the Mall of Asia countdown were with the GMA stars and many more around various hotels & parks. All Countdowns are normally with performances that starts around 7-8pm til Midnight & all of course ends with Fireworks display at MN like that video. The air pollution of course is so bad around that time hence, others prefer to stay indoor or just watch high up in their condos. A lot of foreigners have started to notice this hence, NY arrival I heard has increased significantly. Hope next year you get to experience the Christmas season in PH esp Dec 24 to Dec 31.

But above all, while thr seconds tick to midnight, the air and the streets are dominated by hundreds even thousands of fireworks and firecrackers. The incredible roar of amassed, "Sinturon ni Hudas" firecrackers blasting through the streets, filling the air with cordite and gunpowder, and that ear blasting roar! All in a figurative act of exorcising the evil spirits and bad vibes of the previous year to make way for the New Year.

There's no Christmas and new year like in the Philippines. I left Manila a very long time ago but this what I grew up with and the funny thing is , this is how the whole country celebrates I mean the whole entire country. And you're right about people investing in fire works. Apparently the noise scares any incoming evil with the new year but also it's a show of gratitude and joy and we really go BIG. Btw it's not about the shapes it's more about the noise to ward off evil, a very old tradition.

This is how New Years is celebrated from the get go, it’s combination of each household fireworks, blasted sounds from music, trumpets that you can buy, anything that makes loud noise. And mind you this is regulated. Only specific kind of fireworks that can be light up. Not unlike in the olden days there’s so many injuries post celebration. Happy New Year.

I lived in The Philippines my until I was a week from ten yrs old, and I loved the celebrations there, esp Xmas and New Years... I remember we used to always have fireworks every new yr and someone always ended up bleeding or getting the factory next door on fire. Good times... This was in the 90s though... Also loved Chinese New Year and getting the red envelopes... LOL

This is actually a toned down celebration of the New Year already in the Philippines. 15 to 30 years ago the fireworks starts in the morning of December 31st and ends the next morning, enough to defeat Hamas. 😄😅 Also in the 90's, when November hits Filipinos are already firing wide variety of ground fireworks that can blow your eardrums to death. Lol

This is how we celebrate Christmas and New Year in the Philippines. That’s why most of the Filipino working and leaving outside the country wanted to go home this festive season. And you’ll notice that the airfare will be double or triple. This Korean family was watching in Mandaluyong, Manila facing Quezon City (if I’m not mistaken) because if the balcony was facing the other way round, they can see the high rise building in Makati and they can see the big fireworks in BGC. You were asking the start of the fireworks….. you can start anytime but we normally do it slowly up to 5 or depends on you from morning till evening and full blast after the counting is over on New Years Eve…. It will go on and on until you run out of fireworks…… there’s no time limit. It always excites me watching this whenever I had the chance to watch it. By the way, I have the condo in Mandaluyong, Manila facing Makati on th 31st floor. And I can also view this all fireworks from my balcony or from the roof top of the building (54th floor) … but only if I’m in Philippines…😞

Christmas and New Year are the best time to visit the Philippines. Christmas season Erin's in September and ends after the Feast of thr Three Kings. If you're into shopping, Manila and Makati are where the giant malls are. You might also want to consider visiting provinces in the south like Bicol, Palawan! Cebu, Bacolod, Iloilo rhe list goes on. Thanks for sharing this video. Reggie from LV, USA

Happy new year, Ovela and everyone! Back in the 80's and 90's it wasn't just bombastic. It would be explosive from 11:30pm-12:30am. Filipinos are tamer now because the government is trying to discourage the use of firecrackers due to the danger of getting hurt. Now, it lasted for maybe 10-20mins. It's not just the major cities. We filipinos are really preparing for Christmas and New Year because families get together during this season. Even those who live outside the country would go home for the reunions. New year specially since we're moving on to another year.

Happy New Year Ovela, Kumusta “Kabayan”? As a Filipino who had experienced this kind of New Year’s celebration in the Philippines, it is really surreal, fantastic. Yes, there’s so much skyscrapers. Metropolitan Manila is quite huge, at an area of 620 square kilometers or about 240 square miles. I believe the Koreans were at a skyscraper facing an area away from the skyscrapers or at the edge of the skyscrapers. The fireworks going on in their video showed fireworks all the way to the edges of Metro Manila. What I remember is that the fireworks go on up to 30 minutes and even in some areas, until they get to finish off whatever amount they have at that time. You are from Montreal I see. Well, your channel has become so popular among the Filipino Canadian community, due I believe to your love and appreciation for many things Filipino. You’re in a place, so many hours away, yet, who knows? God willing, I may just get to meet you in person one of these days.

The new year just literally started so this is how it looks like. A lot of households purchase fireworks, but local governments usually show-off the bigger no ones so people don't have to buy and to avoid accidents that happen EVERY YEAR. After a while, things slow down but you will still definitely hear loud fireworks here and there. Some people even light some days before or even a few days after.

Here in the Philippines the fireworks starts at 8 pm of Dec. 31, but even in the morning you will hear fewer of it and it will continue until you want it even if the countdown for the new year has ended... It dies slowly because after the countdown there are some happenings inside the house not only the abundant food that you can choose to eat but especially the splattering of coins that you can get all over the house...

If you will visit our country make it happen in Lenten season. Every corner of our country is happening that. Sing dance and eating is always present.

the smoke you see is from the fireworks, and new year's kind of mellow in the past decades, coz i remember when i was a child, every new year when the clock strikes at midnight, you'll feel as if there a low magnitude earthquakes due to strong fireworks in the ground and up in the sky.
