Hi Cambria Great freezer meals. We have always called it shepherds pie even though we don’t use lamb. My husband has started using homemade breakfast sausage instead of hamburger. He also boils the potatoes and does a rustic mash where the potatoes are barely mashed. We love it so much better than the whipped potatoes. Also adds cheese on the potatoes. Just sharing what he does.

I've never heard it called cottage pie either. My grandma always called it shepherd's pie and we use ground beef. Everyone can make it how they want and call it what they like.

Here in Ireland we use lamb mince and call it sheperds pie we also put lamb stock in aswell . love the way you did your potatoes (spuds) in Ireland.

Love the cooking! Just a super thank you. The meatballs from Walmart. I wanted to try them. But wasn't sure. They are awesome. Sometimes I put my pasta dish together, then add the meatballs. I was so surprised. So good! Love ya! ❤

Beef is cottage pie, but in fairness, does it really matter what you call it. As long as you enjoy the meal, that's all that counts. My children love it made with minced chicken, and that freezes well too. Loved seeing all the recipes in one video. Love and hugs to you all 💞

I don’t peel my potatoes when making cottage or shepherds pie add texture I also crush some crisps (Chips)on top as we don’t add cheese don’t like taste of dairy products I also put English mustard in mash love watching these videos sending big hugs to baby girl 💕lol to me you making cheese and potatoe pie

Cook your large meals in a WOK as you would in your frying pan same heat not like your doing a Chinese meal, why do you put garlic then garlic salt then salt ? Hope baby is ok x

Hello an yum for the mushrooms. I can just fry them in a pan with butter. An I have always called it shepherd's pie. Even thought it's tenically a cottage pie. An my mother used to call it a " Chinese pie." I have no clue y.😂

Here in Canada, English speaking people call it Sheperd's pie even if made with beef. However, french speaking people call it " pâté chinois" which exactly translate to Chinese pie! Our 2 official languages are English and French. French is largely spoken in Quebec, Ontario also in the Maritimes and Manitoba.❤

I'm with you on the fall meals!! Give me all the soups and casseroles. My family is like, "you know it's still hot outside, right?" 😂 I did not know that Shepherds pie was made with lamb until I heard it on tiktok the other day. I'm still going to call mine Shepherds pie. 😅

We also called it Shepard pie growing up. Years ago I saw a recipe for cottage pie. In some countries, what we call Shepard pie they call it cottage pie. Which is made with minced beef, its their version of ground beef. I know weird. I made a cottage pie irish version which was made a bit different than our Shepard pie. Shepard pie usually is made with lamb, but since most folks were not able to source lamb when they migrated here, , its was substituted with ground beef or minced beef. However some folks will refer to it as cottage pie. I find all sorts of variations if both. It makes it intersting.
