Yan, could you use a small snow blower to clean the feed bunks out?? Just a thought from Kansas, we don't get that much snow down here. 😁🇺🇲

Love the ' shake the crap" thing. We haven't gotten any snow down here in Erie, Pa yet and I am not looking forward to it. Sucks that the sand is freezing onto the box of the truck. The calf room extension looks great. Great video, thanks.

Also much easier (warmer) to feed & attend to the calves compared to outside in hutches. They get more attention and have other calves nearby to keep them company.

I hope you got the message on the last video. About cleaning out your feed bunks. Ouclyde, you can get a string trimmer and put a wire broom attachment. Is used to clean sidewalks and gutters. And so forth. I believe it would do a good job. Cleaning out those bumps instead of using the shovel.

If you can get some liquid calcium chloride and put it in a weed sprayer and coat the box it will keep material from sticking. Our supplier that delivers rock and sand to a ready mix company uses it all the time when it's cold. Try it

Question for Yun , you said the sand is not good for growing crops, but when y'all take the liquid manure and put it in the fields for growing crops , the liquid manure is loaded with sand. Are y'all concerned that the sand might cause issues long term for growing crops?
@saskdutchkidАй бұрын
The liquid manure isn’t loaded with sand, it’s less than 1% of the volume. If it was higher then absolutely but since it’s such a little amount it’s inconsequential

Someone should make a seperator/cleaner for manure with sand just like they have for manure with straw, that way the sand can be recycled into bedding and just the nutritious manure be spread out on the fields. A sinking tub with somesort of moving device that scrapes sand out from the bottom and put it thru some sort of steam steriliser🤨🤷 I'm pretty sure the leftovers from straw/sawdust manure gets heated enough thru the seperating prosess that it can be used as bedding without any more processing
@MellowYe77owАй бұрын
There already are separators for sand. However, they're very expensive and not in the farm's budget.

Try a mix of used antifreeze and diesel fuel in the bed of the truck. We tried it here in western New York when it got near freezing. It worked until we had to much build up

@MyPromixdirtАй бұрын
hi, to remedy the froze in box problem you need a bag of calcium chloride, its the same stuff they use to keep the dust down on dirt roads once upon a time, anyway, get a bag of it, not hard to find, take 2 or 3 large tims cups and mix with 5 gallons of water, then fill 2 window washer jugs with the concoction cut a few squirt holes in the jug lids and spray the box, and walls you don't need to leave puddles just make sure to soak all the steel. loader bucket also when moving manure and such, manure spreader too, no more problem. you are welcome. but not when moving food. You can also use it in the summer to prevent build up cuz it is supremely slippery.

@AgrarfanLPАй бұрын
Why don't you use separated manure as bedding material? There is enough liquid manure to run a separator. Advantage: No extra wear and tear on your manure pumps, machines, etc. due to the sand, you don't have to haul sand from the pit to the barn as often, separated manure is as comfortable for the cows as sand and much more. In my opinion the investment in a separator speaks for itselves. 😅
