I tell this story every reaction I see of this episode. Watching this ending as it aired… I was blown away, speechless. The people down my street could probably hear my “WHAT THE FUCK!!!”. I stared at my tv after i turned it off for about 20 minutes in total silence. This is one tv moment that sticks with you forever.

First of all: this is one of the most shocking episode endings in the history of television, we were waiting so patiently for this episode. Most of the people share my first reaction to this, I remember watching it for the first time and sitting with my mouth open for like 10 minutes straight, I even remember that tears started to run down my face I still don't know the reason, it's just that it was so shocking and unexpected.

Ana Lucia is a good character for me. Disagreeing and disliking what someone does at times makes them more dynamic. More Human. Not as likeable sure but, the show's better for having wildcards in there. Michael as another example here.

This episode was discussed on "The Storm" podcast, which does great deep dives into Lost... they discussed how Michelle Rodriguez originally only signed on for a one-year story arc because she was going to do more movies, found out she actually liked doing the show, and asked to stay on, but by the time she did they had already written this episode and what it leads to going forward. They also talked about a lot of the misinformation surrounding the DUIs with quotes from the creative team.

Just to clear up something... when "Henry" tells Ana "you killed two of us," he is NOT referring to the two people Eko killed. Ana killed two on her own. She killed a woman during the night raid on the tailies, and then later she killed Goodwin. Eko had already discussed with "Henry" the two he had killed. Also, the title "Two for the Road" has nothing to do with the Others Ana killed, not quite sure how you got there. It's a three-way reference ... Two for the Road is a) Ana and Christian on a trip to Australia; b) a saying when you have a drink, especially Christian, an alcoholic, stopping for a drink in a bar before moving on c) a dark joke about the murder of two women. But it's not in reference to the dead Others.

Man, you’re mister nail on the head every effing time! It was crazy back then, having to wait a whole week for another episode, but at the same time, we used to have communities where we would run to discuss our theories. Lost was not only a phenomenon back then, it was the first to truly connect the internet with TV. They would leave us clues on different websites, Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof had a podcast where, at the end of each episode, they would give us details of the production and read fans' theories, choosing the ones they liked the most. they had what they called ''mobisodes'' with some shorts fot the celphone and built some fake websites too but knowing about them now would be spoiler so ignore 'em for now. I reckon you and your theories would be so annoying to them!

This time, Ana-Lucia didn't give him the opportunity to let him reach the gun, she put it in his hands. RIP Ana-Lucia. With this episode, Jack's "vendetta" against Boone and Shannon's family ends. Jack let the father die, then couldn't save the son, and finally provided the gun to kill the daughter. Without Jack, Sawyer and then Ana-Lucia wouldn't have had the gun in their hands, and Ana-Lucia wouldn't have been on the plane if Christian hadn't taken the ex-policewoman after losing his job following Jack's denunciation. One domino makes the others fall. 😁

Ana Lucia wasn't my favorite character but I do really like her arc. Some BTS/rumors about the 2 deaths. There are multiple stories about why those 2 were killed off and we dont have an official answer. One story said that Ana Lucia was always planned to be only in one season (Michelle Rodriquez has said otherwise though) but the general audience hated her so much that they also killed Libby to shock the audience and make them feel something other than celebration....she was REALLY disliked at the time. And another story is that while filming the 2nd season both Cynthia Watros and Michelle Rodriquez were arrested for driving drunk in Hawaii (I think they were together, but feel free to fact check me) and that they were asked to kill them off by the studio. Again there isn't anything confirmed about why they were killed off but it was weird that both were arrested and then both were killed off together. And this is probably only interesting to me, but Lost was airing on ABC in the US, and following Lost at 10pm was another JJ Abrams show Alias. And coincidentally this episode killed 2 main characters and then Alias aired after and also killed off 2 main characters, it was a real bloodbath on ABC that night!🤣

Living in Hawaii at the time, I remember their drunk driving arrest was big news (at least locally) and their mugshots were all over the place. These days, we'd probably be more jaded about actors' behavior, but this was the first hit TV show to be filmed on the islands in quite a while, and I think that played into locals' reaction to it. Everyone really did assume it was the reason for their firing from the show, simply because it happened just after the incident (enough time to do some re-shoots to write them off) and because it didn't make any other logical sense why they'd BOTH be killed off in the same episode like this. Not that drunk driving is a victimless crime, but considering what a hit the show was, it was still surprising that they'd be fired for it (assuming it really was the studio that demanded it).

I can't remember exactly, as I haven't got the best memory - I've enjoyed SOME recreational drugs in my time, so I don't retain things unless I instill it in me. Not all who wand(er) are lost. After this, Michael seems, like Ana, to be one, however. Even Henry seemed overwhelmed. Did they miss a chance to use the magic numbers with Ana's storyline, namely the bullets being fired. Or are there continuity errors - a nightmare job in this show. The perp shot Ana 4 times, says her boss. Then she says that Ana put 5 bullets in him. But she clearly fires 6 rounds in the alley, don't think she missed any so close. If she'd used just 4 (2+2) in a mirror-like revenge shooting that begins her new future, that would make it number 8. A police issue Glock 19 carries 15 rounds. Easy peasy, number-wise, although really unwise to use her own gun - surely it would be tested? At least now the Beretta from the case does not magically morph into the ever-present 1-bullet Sig-Sauer in Michael's hand, like it sts does. In this ep. 20 Jack points that one which Sawyer found on the Marshall at him (the one Sawyer used on the polar bear and the Marshall, that Jack gave to Sawyer for the raft, that Michael used on the shark and Sawyer lost to Ana-Lucia in the cage who used the last bullet on Shannon by mistake).

And also I leave a comment like that under every reaction to this episode and I'm gonna repeat myself but I don't hate Michael for what he did and what I'm about to say might be controversial and you guys may not like it but I'm a peace loving person and I just love the humanity, I want people to be happy and I'm against all wars and stuff but personally if I had been in Michael's position and one of my family members, like my young brother was in danger and that would be the only way to save him I'd kill every single one of you with cold blood. I know a lot of people think that way but not everyone is comfortable enough to admit that. Michael literally signaled it hundred times that he needs to get Walt back and everyone were just keep stopping him all the time, no one helped him in the end, I understand how he felt, he felt like every damn second with Walt being far away from him, with the others, was killing him, driving him crazy. I don't blame him for what he had to do. He was faced with a choice when there never really was one.

Dude you pause wayyy too much. If you don’t at least let the entirety of the scene play out, you are missing so much of the continuing theme of suspense, music, and build up of what is to come. I know you like to theorize and show everyone that you are really great at predicting what is to come, but honestly it’s getting really annoying.

I agree and, sadly, I can no longer watch these reactions because of it. This episode was the ultimate test for me...I waited to see if Elie would pause during THAT scene and he did. I'm surprised that he isn't a little more intuitive about when to pause and when to let a scene play out. particularly as he has studied film. I think the main problem is that he feels he needs to keep a continual dialogue going with us, the audience, rather than completely immersing himself in the show.
