Good call by you. Spot on. Great observation. 10 was the number and the whole thing shifted. Lamar starts throwing these shit sidearm moves out to the flat and 2 were batted down and 3 others were just garbage balls. Wasted plays. There were drops. I'm not sure about bringing Andrew's in after they has so much success while he was out. No disrespect Andrew's is great just a different look after 5 weeks so??? But the turnovers killed them ultimately. It was a great defensive play on flowers. But 100 yards in penalties. Never gonna be a ravens win with all that.

@@will-zj5gq Mahomes wasn’t the driving factor of this game imo, it was the chiefs defense and ravens offensive collapse. After those first 2 drives, the ravens defense played great and the chiefs could not move the ball. Outside of that last pass to MVS, they had like 30 yards of offense in the 2nd half. The ravens 2 huge turnovers in the end zone made the game feel a lot less close than it actually was.

You didn't discuss any of the problems with the pass game though, you didn't show the plays with no one open or Lamar's indecisiveness. Ravens barely ran the ball, but the pass game looked horrendous. They were lucky more weren't picked. Better question to ask is why they thought spamming pass plays & risking INTs was a better idea than at least TRYING to run the ball. They didn't make any adjustments, the pass game wasn't there. Shanahan needs to script a vintage Shanny opening drive, running traps, play action, lots of motion, Deebo running, CMC receiving, Aiyuk going deep. If they execute like they can, I truly believe they can march down the field and get a lead (assuming KC doesn’t have a lead). Once they get rolling, they can pull away *fast.* As we’ve seen in this postseason and others, though, Kyle tends to get more conventional in big games. If they come out just handing the ball off to McCaffery for off-tackle rushes or even have him follow Trent Williams, they’re going to get stuffed. And then KC will run sweeps, Mahomes will make crazy passes on 3rd down, Pacheco will start going up the gut, and they’ll have the momentum to win. I do think SF has more talent on both offense and defense, and they have a good attitude and have shown resilience, but they don’t seem to be able to beat Reid, Mahomes, and Kelce. The Chiefs and the Ravens are both really tough in the trenches and they can sniff out misdirections, and if the Niners don’t get an early lead, I don’t see them winning. Even if they get an early lead, we know what Mahomes can do as far as coming from behind. Aiyuk, Deebo, and McCaffery are YAC monsters they didn’t have in Super Bowl three years ago, and Purdy is the equal of Jimmy G as far as being a system QB, except he’s got bigger balls that Jimmy’s ever had in close games. The Chefs actually seem to have _fewer_ weapons (eg, no Tyreek), but they are still fundamentally solid, and Mahomes could probably take a Pop Warner team and make a good run at a title - he seems to be in the mold of Joe Montana and Tom Brady, very hard to put away. I would go absolutely nuts if my guys could get revenge on the Chefs and make Mahomes cry on the sideline. Make Taylor Swift have to console Kelce rather than have scene after scene of them celebrating and their families looking happy in their million dollar luxury suite. F the Chefs. But I have tempered my expectations because despite the 5 Super Bowl rings they have, they have had plenty of heartbreaks since 1994. Thirty years of frustration, especially in recent years. I’m just hoping that changes and it’s KC who gets a *massive* kick in the meatpods this time round. #GoNiners

And the rest has been history.. From 28-3 with the Falcons to Rams loss in the NFC Championship to the Chiefs Super Bowl losses, Shanahan abandoned the run. It's almost like he outsmarts himself with the plethora of weapons and play calls on his clipboard. Passing is more sexy. It looks prettier. At the end of the day, you run the damn ball. It's what made the Cowboys successful with Smith, setting up Irving & Harper. Or with TD & the Broncos.

All but 3 designed run plays were successful. 2 of them gained 1st downs. The other 5. They were not going to sustain drives this way. They had to pass if they had a chance. The way things were going, if they had run 21 more times, 14 of them would have ended poorly. Everybody with eyes could see that the Chiefs were playing to shut down the run. But when they passed, the Ravens were unable to have success. The pass rush rattled Lamar. That is why the Ravens lost. If they ran more they would have still lost.

Old guy here. As a Chiefs fan, I kept wondering why the Ravens didnt go to their strength of running the ball with their RBs and their rushing QB. They led the league in rushing, and the chiefs are weak against the run. They should have pounded the ball all day. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad KC won, but I don’t know why Baltimore didn’t play to their strength. I think they did give up too soon, but it worked in the Chiefs favor. They faced Lamar as a passing QB, which is not his strong suit, rather than a running QB, which he excels at. Not sure who decided it, but the Chiefs took advantage of it. In a way, I kinda feel bad for Lamar. He’s like the poor man’s Jalen Hurts. A little bit better runner than Hurts, but not near as good as a passer. Lamar can make the easy throws, but that’s about it. He seems to have a harder time reading the coverages too. That pick he threw in the end zone in the 4th quarter was into triple coverage, and was intercepted by a backup safety. He’s just not an elite QB with all the skills needed to be. Unless he can change it up, I’m afraid he’ll be destined to a fantastic regular season QB, racking up yards, TDS, and wins for his team. But in the playoffs where the competition is more fierce, that is the defenses tougher and better disciplined, he will struggle and possibly lose like he did against the Chiefs.

Jackson is better at everything than Hurts. Teams know that if they control the clock and don't turn the ball over, they'll beat the Ravens. If Kansas City played the Ravens like they played the Eagles in the Super Bowl, or the Bills the prior week, they would lose. They played the Ravens like the Colts and Steelers played the Ravens in the regular season and won easily. Jackson's play in these games have nothing to do with the playoffs. Jackson was just fine the previous week in a playoff game. Harbaugh is 0-28 when trailing by 10, and 2-4 vs. Steelers. They've been losing games like this routinely in the regular season, but few teams have good enough defense and coaching to pull it off.

That's a master class by Spags to scare the Ravens off running the ball. To me, that's still unacceptable for the Ravens offense. Look at the Chiefs, the run game was blown up consistently after the first 2 drives, yet Pacheco still have 2X carry. Reid knew and trusted the game plan, yet Ravens just ran away from it. Without the run, they fell into the trap Spags baited them into, forcing Lamar passing against our elite pass D without the threat from the running game. Lamar was rattled, pressured constantly leading to back breaking mistakes. Todd Monken deserved blame for abandoning the running game too soon while not having a backup plan on passing to take pressure off Lamar. Lamar deserved blame for not using his best asset, his ability to run more to take pressure off his passing game, which is not his forte. Finally, Harbaugh deserved blame for letting these happen and not intervening.

@@tristankinnamon3181 Well the ravens defense had the best pass rush all year, and Lamar goes up against those guys in practice, so you’d think he’d be used to it by now. The whole reason for bringing in Monken and new wide receivers was so the ravens can beat the blitz with quick passes, but all game it looked like they were refusing to call those plays. They kept trying 20 yard pass plays. They actually called a good screen pass to flowers that would have went for a td if it didn’t get batted down by Chris jones…but then they never tried a play like that the rest of the game. Also, we need to acknowledge that Lamar was changing plays at the line. It was possible they had run calls in that he changed because he saw how heavy the box was. I don't really put most of this on Monken. Lamar was the one who panicked here. Let's just be real. I love him, he's my favorite player right now, but he panicked. He reverted to the guy who tries to do everything instead of taking what the defense was giving him. Guys were open on short routes, but he kept trying to push the ball deep when that's absolutely not his strong suit, and then he'd overthrow it. And come on, the problem in the 2nd half was not yards. The problem was stupid mistakes.

This is ridiculous. Of course play action didn't work. That only works if you're actually running the ball. It has been a common wisdom for at least 30 years that being consistent with pounding the ball eventually starts to wear down a defense. The run is like body shots in boxing. It is an investment in the future. There is no way 9 designed runs with 2 of them going for giant chunks of yards can be justified as 'it wasnt working'. Near as I can tell the Ravens coaches just panicked.

The other runs were wider and go watch the bills game. They blasted right up the middle forcing KC to put 9 guys on the line. Their problem was the receivers were sucking it up. The Bills, so far, were the closest to beating KC in the playoffs, precisely because of how they ran the ball. Even though it took them almost 2x the plays, they ultimately lost because they were trying to bait Allen into being impatient.. and he did well until became impatient on the last ~4 plays. The dropped long bomb by Diggs probably factored into Allen's psyche on that drive... he's gotten better about that for sure, and I hope (as a Bills fan), Allen turns the corner next year. The Ravens should have been ground pounding in one way or another the entire first half. I’m not saying straight up the middle, but keep hitting them with different-look running plays. The NFL is a HUMUNGOUS money making business that takes money from fans off of games through betting. THE NFL is allowed to do all of this. Legally they can do this. Longer drives are meaningless if you can’t punch it in. Yeah, some bad breaks, but that’s on them. So I guess I respectfully disagree with you: They needed to run 20-25 times regardless. Maybe throw underneath to their backs, but keep them involved. Lamar looked lost in the second half, despite his defense coming up huge and giving him a whole half to get ten lousy points (or more). It’s not as though KC’s offense was rolling and the Ravens were trying to chase them. They needed to keep KC guessing with lots of looks, and they didn’t. And if they can’t rush for positive yardage when KC is in a pass protection formation like you showed, they don’t deserve to win! Good teams impose their will on the opponent, they don’t abandon a staple of their game and rely on their QB to do everything. If they’re better than the Chiefs, use a mix of runs and passes, play action, draw plays, screens, sweeps, delays…whatever it takes. They lost, so they’re not the better team. Scoreboard. (And KC is one of three teams I hate with a passion.)

Beckham actually shows some frustration (arms go up) because he felt (rightly so in my opinion) that it was a missed opportunity for a 1st down. If the Ravens ran the ball a lot and lost this game then everyone would be saying "why didn't they pass it more?"

No they would say they just lost to the better team and Patrick mahomes is just that great. It’s never a good idea to go away from your identity unless it’s completely shut down. The ravens faced minor adversity and panicked. Considering you have the best defense in the league is even more reason why you continue to try and run the ball. This was a collective meltdown.

I like your argument. We definitely didn't abandon the run like we did in 2019. I would've liked to see them run the ball more in the first half, especially on a third and one where they ran Hill instead of Gus the Bus. Gus is literally our money guy in those situations. I thought the roughing the passer on Mahomes was a little tacky since Lamar never gets those calls, and when Roquan jumped the ball there was definitely no personal foul. I also never released taunting penalties were that severe. However, if I was an unbiased fan, I would say I'm glad there was no PI called on that triple coverage throw. I thought there was a guy open underneath, and while Likely fell over, I didn't feel it was a significant enough push to really cause that. The way the super bowl ended last year left a bad taste in my mouth, and I wouldn't want to see a team get there in that way, even if it was my Ravens (plus we won our last SB on a very controversial no-call). I've never seen a defense shut down Mahomes like ours did in the second half, and at the end of the day we didn't deserve to win with how many scores we gave away on offense. That being said, I wish we would of won for how Mahomes and Mr. Pfizer disrespected OUR kicker in pregame warm-ups, and I do think at least some refs have a pro-Mahomes bias, especially when it comes to roughing the passer and PI, not seen since late-career Tom Brady. I'd like equal roughing calls for all QBs, preferably being on the lower end because I think the NFL should recognize the existence of momentum.

Your whole analysis is totally incorrect on this because you have to establish the run more than 11 carries let alone it's a known fact the more carries the more the defense gets worn down even without the success of the Run game and makes the play action game more effective by sinking those linebackers and safeties in

I totally agree, Jackson. Being in 3rd & 6/7 constantly isn’t the recipe for the Ravens. Running more would have led to that & sucked off more time. Players deserve just as much blame, and you gotta credit the Chiefs defense. Took a page out of the Chargers book from that 2018 WC game with 6-7 DB’s to help deter from more designed QB runs.

Because they threw the game. Change your successful run game vs the WORST defense against the run. Kelce 11 for 11 LMAO. Look at Mahomes and Kelce regular season .. had refs that favored KC both Bills #2 and Ravens #1 seed. You think they didnt have help to beat #1 and #2 seeds on the road. And the kicker for the Bills was 9 for 9 in previous attempts but MISSES vs. KC. And KC only had 3 offensive penalties for 30 yds. NO defensive.. add Swift and 5 KC ads and no way KC was losing.. zzzzz. Goodbye NFL .. leftist propaganda by the elite..

I think the NFL has weights they put in the footballs to make them hook away, and they put those into the game when they want somebody to miss...the NFL did that 15 years ago to put Brady in the Superbowl against the Ravens, a hook ball...

Bruh, it’s clear as day it was rigged! A post was deleted on a forum, he said bet the house on chiefs and said why too. The main point was that he said Ravens we’re gonna only run it under 15 times. I saw the same bet on prize picks and I threw money on it and tripled up: smh Vegas won 50 million on people who thought Ravens were a Super Bowl lock.

And here we have another butthurt idiot who is convinced it's rigged. How was the forced fumble on Flowers at the 1/2 yard line rigging the game? Or the strip sack that the Chiefs recovered? The questionable holding call that negated a Chiefs TD sure as hell doesn't get called if it's rigged in favor of the Chiefs, and the Ravens DEFINITELY get flagged for the blatant hold/trip in the end zone for a safety if it's rigged. I'd compare your mental capacity to a box of rocks, but the rocks simply don't deserve the insult.

As a Ravens fan, this hurts brand new every single time, like being in Groundhog day but in a car accident. I want to put something out here, and I hope people tweet it, like it, repeat it until we can manifest it but what does Andrews, Likely and Flowers remind you of? To me it's like poetic deja vu, but the Ravens are in the singularly unique position to be the 2.0 Patriots with Hernandez, Gronk and Welker/Edelman. The talent level of that Patriots triple is right here in Baltimore- we have 2 amazingly talented TEs and a wicked fast and shifty wr all playing at an all-Pro level football. Why is this not blindly obvious to Harbaugh eludes me. On top of that, we have the envious position to have an RPO silver bullet in Lamar and Keaton in the backfield and the tank Ricard and bruiser Edwards who play bully football in the red zone; the Ravens are the complete offensive juggernaut. Everything about the current Ravens player roster screams dynasty, minus the X's and O's. The NFL is a copycat league, and we need a new coaching philosophy, either we grab the entire 2012 Patriots playbook and make it our own or we do the unthinkable and bring in the coach who wrote it...
