I read IT, then I watched the miniseries and then I watched the movie. I think the remake was way better at portraying the book than the miniseries. I didn't find it scary but that's not truly what the book was about, the book was more about these kids having to, well, grow up, and the backstories in the remake were better portrayed in my opinion as well. I also liked that there were so many easter eggs in the remake and the miniseries was just less to be honest. I feel like the standard for movies has become so high that movies from the 80's (from where the standard was lower) are considered great while way better remakes of the present are considered "meh". I loved IT, and although it's a shame the whole book couldn't be presented in the film and it would be really hard to make part 2 good too, it was still a really good movie in my opinion.

You aren't a prude but don't want to see nudity in your movies? If you find a naked human body too distracting or "unnecessary" that's pretty much the definition of a prude. Anyway, the boobies in Blade Runner 2049 weren't gratuitous IMO. The main theme of the movie is the dehumanizing effects of technology and that the future is an exploitative nightmare. The film was not celebrating or glorifying the nudity but using it to show that sex has become a commodity that doesn't have anything to do with real love or affection, which certainly seems to be where we are headed as a society.
@FathomlessChaos7 жыл бұрын
Jason Hicks Yeah I completely agree. I don't know if this is truly how he is, but I couldn't help but feel that he is purposefully pandering to an sjw crowd. For example when he talks about how he is happy to see more DC films other than Batman and Superman but oh also there was that Wonder Woman movie that he apparently thinks was the best superhero movie ever? Okay? Or not liking characteristics of this comic books characters that are just too male dominant for him that are traits the characters had in the comics? I.E. Batman's deep voice while in his suit. I just don't get it.
@jasonhicks19807 жыл бұрын
YungBreadLord Yeah I think you missed my point. BR 2049 used nudity as a critique of objectifying and exploiting women. That the "women" involved were either replicants or in the case of Joi, completely digital, showed how mechanized sexuality has become, actual women are no longer involved, instead a disposable stand in does the job just as well and the man doesn't have to run the risk of any real emotional entanglement, hypothetically at least. The scene with K and Robin Wright at his apartment where she makes a pass at him demonstrated that women are utilizing replicants in the same way. Anyway, I couldn't care less about whether uncle ER has a political agenda, but I think he missed the subtext of the movie and how it used nudity and other sexual situations to examine how sexuality may evolve in the face of unchecked technology.

I must disagree with you on Blade Runner 2049 I thought the soundtrack was amazing and I think the film didn't try to be all bigger and better it's not like a whole bunch of sequels are coming about the blade runner. Blade 2049 is not like all the other reboots and sequels this movie had a great story with great cinematography.

Jason Momoa who plays Aquaman is actually from Hawaii and doesn't look like your stereotypical blonde guy, so the character looks like an islander which I think he should, but I kinda get the point you were trying to make. While I agree that stereotypes can be bland and get old, I don't think the reason they should be avoided was simply for the sake of avoiding them; rather only if you genuinely have something better to put in their place.

I will never understand the fuzz about naked women or some of their body parts... but that's probably only me being too insensitive being just a caucasian hetero from the blockbuster generation - what would I know. I was happy to see a reminder of my favorite movie from the 80s and I wasn't distracted by boobies... but then, who cares one day all those moments will be lost like teardrops in the rain.
