Aladdin and Jasmine should NOT have survived their own movie. No, not because of Jafar or any other Disney villain but because of one small scene: the magic carpet ride. There’s NO way Aladdin and Jasmine could have flown around the world in such a short amount of time. So today, we’re dissecting what REALLY would have happened. Grab your headset and start cranking up the Disney song jams because after watching this theory it will open up a whole new world of questions!

I have a theory that the magic carpet wasn't just travelling, it's teleportation of some kind. During the moments between frames and scenes we could assume that the carpet teleported to another location in a blink, because they're above clouds most of the time, it'd be hard to spot the differences, allowing them to jump their way across the world like a sci-fi movie.

It was said that this story was Chinese in origin. Considering another famous Chinese mythical figure, the Monkey King from Journey to the West, has a nimbus cloud that could travel 108 thousand miles in a single flip, the magic carpet being imbued with similar traveling abilities isn't beyond imagination. There is also a form of mystical arts where long distances are shrunk into mere inches, so taking a couple of normal steps would put you hundreds or thousands of miles from where you started. Also an ability that can be imbued into the carpet and activated at will.

One minor correction. Aladdin, without even realizing it, phrased his request "make me a prince". Not "make me LOOK LIKE a prince". Genie does consider this a wish as when he brings up the count at other times, it's already counted. So, Aladdin is a prince. Phenomenal cosmic power may not change Aladdin's memories, but it very well may have changed his lineage given it's ability to not only warp space, but also time.
@JamesJNothingIsTooSensitive
@JamesJNothingIsTooSensitive 7 ай бұрын
Why change his lineage? Just... make him a prince the same way everyone else was. Conquer some land, and he's the ruler of it. Prince until coronation date. I presume Genie just needed to hand Aladdin the equivalent of a deed.
@ChefForte
@ChefForte 7 ай бұрын
@@JamesJNothingIsTooSensitive The only reason I went with a change in lineage was because of what Matpat said about it. I'm sure Genie could have just made Aladdin a prince, King, or an Emperor (if Al knew about them), if he has wished it. Also also, I completely forgot in my first post that technically.. he already was a prince. Genie just kind of made him a more traditional, and publicly acceptable type of prince. The third movie confirms his lineage is already there as the Price of Thieves, lol. The Sultan never said it had to be a prince of some wonderful kingdom, or anything. Just "must be married to a prince". So that's an extra point for Al 😁

I actually support your comment here, but there's a twist to it. See if you watch Aladdin again, you'll notice that the time period of the movie is a dystopian future, where the civilization took a reset. There wasn't a wizard who created the carpet, but instead a scientist. The evidence actually lies in the movie itself, based on the items Genie shows to Aladdin in their first meet. The carpet is a proof that human civilization was at their prime, before the reset happened.

-Your campy animation is always awesome. I especially enjoyed 13:51 of this video. -Speaking of magic, Magic Carpet could use its magic (or Genie could have helped supply it, as a courtesy) to pressurize the air directly above the carpet during the ride. Their own bubble of atmosphere with heat and oxygen, comparable to Agrabah's elevation and season. It's not a bad theory. The bubble could have included a pause or slowing of time. Because they were not moving that fast, yet they were traveling far. Maybe it is the same way Santa goes all around the world in one night. A time warp/freeze of some sort.

came here to reply to this comment. It was a "magic" carpet and my assumption is that magic > physics. Also, they could have traveled west all night to get >12 more hours of night to get to China.

To get a lower bound on the distance travelled without knowing where they are located, you could just take the length of the full cycle of the 3 sites. Then since the original location would have to be added as a stop somewhere, it can only make the trip take longer (it doesn't matter that the pieces are at the beginning/end of the trip since the total distance is the same). Based on the map in the video, this would probably have been very close to the value calculated with Baghdad.

Kind of like a magic carpet version of what The Flash does. Normally, anyone moving at speeds even close to what The Flash moves would be ripped to shreds. To get around this, DC hand-waves in some "protective field" that keeps him safe and not burning up from the friction. Flash can even extend this so he can carry people to safety without them turning into piles of smoldering ash. So maybe carpet has its own protective field. It doesn't stop everything - since they still obviously feel a breeze - but it keeps it far below lethal levels.

I'd also say it's *a Magical Barrier of some kind* negating things like _Oxygen Depreciation, Altitude Sickness and G-Forces_ from travelling so fast - though I believe this barrier is *coming from the Genie, not the Carpet...* _To recreate the scenes in the Original Movie,_ they wouldn't be travelling at the insane speeds you mentioned *all the way around - they'd be 'slowing down' at times* to See the Sights along their journey. When they *aren't* sightseeing, _that's_ when the Genie would likely conjure up the Barrier, so that the Carpet *can take them to that 6500ft Altitude, before travelling at Mach 2 to their next Stop...* The Landmarks they visit are all *at much lower Altitudes than when they're going International,* so it also makes sense for these stops to be there _to give Genie a quick breather from using his Magic_ before getting back to it - *even if he didn't need it,* it shows at least _a Sense of Compassion from Alladin towards his Magical Friend..._

Even if there was a magic carpet, the journey was likely different than what he said happened.

Trivia time: If altitude sickness is still a thing at 10k feet, why is an emergency descent in an aircraft (which is made as a result of a loss of pressurisation) made to an altitude of 10k feet, instead of something lower? My guess? 10,000 has been calculated as the best compromise between "a pilot's ability to perform", (the pilots being able to think and act clearly is going to be essential in any sort of depressurisation scenario) and margin of error - that is, how much time the pilots have to put the plane down on the ground safely in the case of additional failures. The pilots might be able to think and therefore perform better at 5,000 feet but if some other aircraft system fails before, during, or after the emergency descent, 10,000 feet gives them a lot more time to (hopefully) glide to a point where they can put the plane down, if not in one piece, then at least with minimal injuries of the people aboard.

And with an average of 1g of acceleration, those 6310 km or 3920 miles between Athens and Bei Jing, which would be half one way and half the other, would be traveled in 30 (more specifically 29.61) minutes acceleating, just as much decelerating (slowing down), which means one hour one way, which means another hour the other way, so the whole back-and-forth would take no longer than 2 hours. The speed of light is 1.07 billion km/h or 670 million mph, the speed of sound is 1,234.8 km/h or 767.269 mph, which means that the maximum speed reached would be Mach 51, or between 51 and 52 times the speed of sound. I have to disagree with you on the altitude sickness part. Airliners are typically pressurized to a cabin pressure altitude between 6,000 and 8,000 feet, and usually the newer the plane, the lower the cabin altitude. 6,500 feet is at the very low end of that. I would not expect two healthy, 20-something adults to experience altitude sickness at such a (relatively) low altitude! The FAA only mandates required crew to use supplemental oxygen if the cabin pressure will be above 12,500 feet for more than 30 minutes, or continuously above 14,000 feet.

There are a couple of times you can clearly see the carpet accelerate quickly at steep angles. That carpet has no handholds, seatbelts, or restraints of any kind.
