I think a bigger problem is the pesticides being used on crops and lawns. They hurt insects way more then invasive bees. Also, I went into this with the idea that you would be being to light how inaccurate the pollen plot point is. Pollen does not keep plants alive, it is how they reproduce mainly. And require like to like, not flowers to trees. Also, also the point that there are pollinators do not take any nectar seems shaky at best. I think it would be that they take less nectar/pollen as otherwise why interact with the flower at all? And one more thing, Bees are not exactly like cows and other farm animals as they can leave the farm. No one has tamed a hive, bees are probably one of the few animals that willingly joined humans.

As someone who has taken vigorous courses in animal science and wildlife, I want to say that Matpatt is kind of pulling a red herring. You see, while there are thousands of bee species in America alone, each species has a unique set of agriculture and food sources they are attracted to (so are bird, mammal, and bug species). One species of bee does not typically pollinate the same flower as another as eveb every flower has evolved to have specific pollinators (for instance red attracts hummingbirds and flat flowers attract butterflies). However, the Euopean honeybee, or Apis millifera, is responsible for pollinating over 100 different crops, but specifically almonds and fruit. These honeybees are domesticated along with the prominent food crops that, may I remind you, are ALSO from Europe. So, yes these honeybee do affect wildlife crops and plants, however they play a MAJOR role in our agriculture and would be devastating if they are removed. The real issue is the diseases and parasites such as the varroa mite due to relocation by HUMANS who need to bring them from crop to crop. The decline of the European honeybee is also occurring. So, yes, humans are still the problem.

Because we can't figure out a solution for them? We are human, we make mistakes. We aren't perfect, nor should we expect to be, especially since we all stand to learn something from others. If we want to protect the bees without killing them off and facing the consequences, we can just send them back to Europe and have the honey imported. Unless that makes things worse and does nothing to help..

You're not wrong there because a similar thing has happened when cattle was first introduced by the Spanish. The more cattle there are in North America, the less of the native bison we have and it's the reason why bison meat is more expensive than regular beef from cattle brought by the Spanish. There was one time that bison was going to be extinct because of this as well as the railroad expansion. So yeah, bees aren't exactly the only species that cause trouble for us in the Americas.

Can you do a theory about the movie “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs”? Not about how the machine the main protag Finn(not fully sure about his name) builds but how it’s possible for all the stunts he pulls off works. He made a “snow” day for the police officer’s son’s birthday with giant scoops of ice cream but in the opening credits of the movie it shows that the island that they live on is in he middle of the Atlantic Ocean when they show a global map (right by the “I” of the word “Atlantic” if I remember correctly) wouldn’t it be too hot for the ice cream to stay solid and in scoops? Or about how when they escape the island they’re plan is to sail to other countries via grilled cheese sandwich boats. How long could they survive on water before the bread becomes soggy and sinks (they also did not pack any supplies so they would have to eat they’re boat for food rations) My question for you MatPat: are the stunts he pulls off possible or is “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” just another fills that lies to us like the Bee Movie, that’s for reading.

I also want to mention, while we're on the topic of bees, I am actually like terrified of bees. Because even if I know that they don't WANT to sting me, they have the ability to. I am also scared of carpenter bees, which don't even HAVE stingers, mostly because I hear the buzz, and I associate that with bees. I have gotten better with carpenter bees, because the shed my bike is kept in has them around the door, and I ride my bike a lot, so I have to get past them every time. I'm still scared of them though.
