Thanks for the videos ! I'm using my GP 10 for filming fly fishing trips. I found that the best body mount was a SNAP Magnetic mount. With this mount there are no straps or buckles to deal with ( I've got enough of those already ) and the magnet can place the camera high up on either shoulder chest/ area and not in the way of rod hand. Another need feature is that it is super easy to switch the camera to another mount. I've use one for about 3 yrs and it works great, never, ever comes loose, even when I inadvertently take a swim !

Glad it was helpful! In hindsight, I should of done it in order 3, 1 and 2. Part 3 really answers a lot of questions for folks just getting started.

Very nice overview especially that you show how does the view looks with each of them. Definitely will recommend to friends who are new in gopro theme.

I just found your page and watched part 1&2 of your series. I know this is a two year old video, but I appreciate you for doing these! I just picked up a hero 8 for a fishing trip in Bali next week. First time GoPro user and this answered a lot of questions I couldn’t find on google or Reddit. Going to do a trial run on my local river to get the reps in. Thanks! On to video 3 now!

Thank you for taking the time to comment, you’ll like part 3! I should have done these in reverse order. I have some newer GoPro reviews with some tips as well and I plan to buy the new 13 soon. The hero 8 is a great camera! I still use mine, it was the first camera I had with the newer image stabilization, which is a must have! Let me know if you have any questions: you can also find me at Rage Fishing on Facebook and @steelheadrage on IG. Good luck!

So many mounts and options. I am thinking of just getting 3 or 4 kinds for the beginning. Video suggestion: must have / minimum equipment for a beginner.
@RAGEFISHING2 жыл бұрын
True; I would say a chesty for sure, followed by a tripod if you’re running 2 cameras. So basically a body worn and a hard mount of some sort. If you’re going to be fishing in a boat, then substitute the tripod for a clamp on or adhesive mount.

I'm going to have to pick up one of those hats. The head strap gives me a headache as well. I tried the shoulder strap on the Umpqua chest pack but the footage always seemed wanting when compared to the head strap footage.
@RAGEFISHING2 жыл бұрын
Hey Justin! Yeah, they work much better. I like using my hero 8 with it because it’s still small like the old GoPros.

Great reviews. Have you looked into0 the 360 cameras?
@RAGEFISHING2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I have not looked into the 360 other than watching some promotional videos. They look pretty cool, I might have to check them out further. Have you used them?
@gottria2 жыл бұрын
@@RAGEFISHING Not a lot, but you can pick what you want to view from the 360 video, so no more making sure the GoPro is pointing at the subject you want to film. I'm doing an Alaskan fishing trip end of month so we will see.

Can the adhesive mounts be attached to my fishing vest?
@RAGEFISHING9 ай бұрын
No, they are for hard smooth surfaces like on a boat or vehicle.
@justindavis2282 Жыл бұрын
What’s your thoughts on shoulder mounts? Like over the left shoulder if you’re right handed. Another guy on KZbin was suggesting they were better than chest mounts since your hands/arms are not in the way and they give you a 3rd person type of view.
@RAGEFISHING Жыл бұрын
I tried one version of a shoulder mount a few years ago, I didn’t like it much myself, the chest mount works great for me. I’m always aware of where my camera is and rarely block the view. You just have to be mindful of it.
