Lol, Hollywood battles including LOTR are just chaotic mess, CGI or not. I would rather take actually realistic battle with CGI than unrealistic battle without it. Of course, CGI is just a tool. Just like practical effects are just tools. They can be used good or badly. Lotr movies use plenty of CGI that people don't complain about. @AbbyDay-bm5qw I love the beginning of the Battle of 5 armies because it shows the two sides using actual tactics instead of just blindly charging each other. Unfortunately later on it kinda devolves into typical Hollywood chaotic battle where all order disappears, which is the same mistake the Battle of Black Gate in LOTR also does. But I don't care that its CGI. There are plenty of CGI in Battle of Pelennor Fields and Siege of Minas Tirith in LOTR too.
