Always great! I would be thrilled to find some snow scorpionflies (Boreidae) or winter craneflies on the snow.

Awesome Ichneumon wasp! Loved the “springtail in flight”… if you find it in a frame you can measure its speed :-)

unique perspective of those tiny creatures in freezing conditions! I started using one of those circular brackets (by Nisi but there are others out there) that enable me to get the camera close to the ground while still having it oriented correctly (i.e. it's not upside down!!) 🙂 I too use an X-H2 and Laowa 65mm, and the bracket fits easily over the lens.

That's also an interesting idea, would definitely make handling the camera a bit easier.. I am going to get a cage for my xs20 and will probably use that for macro video in future, so I might be able to rig a quick release plate to the top of the cage as well

That's really interesting, I don´t expect to see bugs in the snow, the videos look quite nice.

Super video shots. Macro video is on my "to do list" for next season so I will be watching intently on your settings and techniques!

I don’t mean to be weird but I am interested in the pants because they look like durable macro photography woodland pants.

I must be weird too, because that's the first thing I thought.
@naturefold3 күн бұрын
Haha totally not weird, unfortunately I'm not entirely sure what these ones are as I got them second hand... in general anything with sturdy fabric and reinforced knees is good

Nice video, I hope we will get some snow here as well.. parts of the Netherlands got snow, we did not really. Last weekend I found some caterpillars of the species Euthrix potatoria. So I got some macro in this winter as well, luckily 😁 no luck with springtails yet tho...

Great video, with awesome content, do you use auto focus bracketing, or manually rack the focus for stacked images?

Which led panel are you using and would you recommend it?

I have the Ulanzi VL200, it's nothing special but I've gotten good results so far... I'm sure there are other good alternatives in the same price range though.

Laowa 25mm f/2.8 2.5-5X Ultra lens would be good for iris photography?

Do you take photos with the flash set to 'multi' mode? Or is it just normal mode with 1/8 or 1/16 power? The number of flashes when you take the photos looks like multi mode to me, and I am not able to get that many flashes even at 1/8 power, and I find 1/16 to not be powerful enough, but then again, I don't have such an enclosed diffuser, maybe that it allowing you to get adequate lighting at 1/16 power?
@naturefold3 күн бұрын
I actually have my flash in manual mode between 1/64 and 1/32 to be able to keep up at 15fps, so even lower power.
@APlayerinVR3 күн бұрын
@naturefold Thank you for the reply. I expect that the reason why even 1/8 is not enough for me is because I don't have a diffuser that contains and directs the light, so almost all of it gets lost. I will have to get a diffuser, get the light from the flash contained and directed. Thanks!

Didn't know spiders can be found on snow - which one was it btw? Great video as usual

Thanks! I'm not sure on the exact species but it's something in the family Theridiidae
