It's gotten to the point where it's stressful to be out and about in public, especially during events and the like. I hate it when people bring up that stupid argument of "no expectation of privacy in public". It's an old and outdated law and mindset and it needs to be updated. Videos and pictures no longer stay private. They are uploaded online and have a massively global reach, forever, for anyone to do who-god-knows with, to pick apart, to use in ways I don't want to think about. Ugh.

Yeah, can you imagine the amount of stress and anxiety you’d be feeling in that situation? You’re 100% right about the find him stuff being stalking!!! So creepy. Also speaking of stalking, imagine trying to get away from an abusive ex? A cult? Being in witness protection? I only have ptsd and this sets me off so badly, I can’t imagine having social anxiety or something like that. I genuinely feel bad if I photograph/film someone by accident in the background of something I will never post. I delete it. Here in the UK it’s suspect for anyone to film the outside of any financial institution or police station. You will be asked to leave, if you don’t comply you will be arrested. I had a guy film me at the bookstore and he was following me. It really freaked me out. He was also filming other young girls and he tried to follow me to my car. People have made it okay to harass people in public by intentionally filming them. I think its different if someone happens to be in video or picture and they just want to capture a moment but intentionally filming people is different. I don't like when they use real people in the background to get comments purposefully, they probably did multiple takes, they could blur their faces- they don't because it gets comments. This stuff impacts real peoples lives.

Re: the last segment: I'm a woman and a feminist through and through, but it's absolutely true that certain behaviours that we (rightly) stigmatise when it's men doing it to women seem to be treated as okay when it's women doing it to men (sexualising, stalking behaviours like the ones in the video, dismissing their valid issues etc.). It's so not okay. I mean, yes, statistically a lot of these behaviours on the part of men come on the back of centuries of an established power imbalance and bigger physical strength, so it may hit a bit differently - but the specific man in the specific situation where the tables are turned is not a representation of a whole power structure and shouldn't be treated like that. He's just a person and just because he belongs to a gender that's typically considered to be the perpetrators instead of the victims doesn't change the fact that in this specific situation he is, in fact, the victim.

I’m a hobbyist photographer. Some of my favorite photographers are street photographers. They would document what they saw, the people they saw just going about their day, out of a sense of beauty, admiration, and art. These videos are being shot out of a sense of narcissism. As for the people filming others with the intention of the internet introducing them, you are not putting the person being filmed in a position where they cannot reasonably reject you. There is a lot more pressure for that person to just go along with it, whether they want to or not.

Under fundamental freedoms (the First Amendment) in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the First Amendment in the U.S. Constitution, there is "Freedom of the Press," which allows people to film public servants, allows media to film in public, and allows citizens to film other citizens in public places. They are obviously not allowed to film in restricted areas, but they can stand behind a restricted area and film whatever their eyes can see. It has gone WAY too far and should have rules regarding people's right to privacy. However, people will argue that if a citizen is in public, they do not have any rights to privacy, and if you are a public figure or a public servant, then you do not have any right to privacy. I agree with the latter. The term "Karen" is idiotic.

In the UK it's not illegal to film in public places at this point (although photo/video environment is changing so there may be changes soon). But other people's faces aren't supposed to be bigger than a particular proportion of the shot. And if you're in a place like a store of any kind, security or managers may ask you to stop filming. Also, at events (like fairs or similar community festivals) a lot of organisations put a notice on site that pictures will be taken. If someone doesn't see anything wrong with filming strangers - they should really think about safety first. You don't know other people's stories. I volunteered for a charity in the past, and reasons for safety concerns can be different - someone escaped a dangerous relationship and don't want to be located, some children can be adopted with particular conditions of not appearing in photos accessible by general public, the list goes on... Maybe 20 years ago, if someone took a video or a photo with strangers in the background, nothing would happen. But now we live in a very different world.

I feel the woman in the airport, it is about a 10 year old. My kids went with a plane to denmark from switzerland, to visit my parents, they were 7 and 5 years old and on the flieght home they had 4 hours delay from the airport in copenhagen, where my mother was not aloud to stay with them, but had to wait outside, and they were in a separat room with a lady, who did not speak german, and my kids only speaked german then, i extra told this when i booked the flights, and i was assured that the person taking care of my kids would talk german, i mean they were tiny❤. Everything went well ans my kids were not scared at any moment, but my mother and i were very worried until they landed. Fun fact my Name is Karen 😂😂but i am not a Karen.love from switzerland❤

In the US, there are laws in place to protect people who want to film in public places, streets, institutions, etc. now, if a random person is there at the time of filming, technically that’s not against the law. Will people get offended and get bothered? Yes. You can walk into your local police station and have the right to film what is inside and outside the building. I record content at the gym and sometimes, people are in the background even though I try my best to film in a corner or by myself. Think about google street view. I have seen people in the shot when I am trying to see the address or location. Their face is on the internet because they happened to be there at the time the google camera came. People can look up your home and place of business on google and see the outside of the building, what’s around it, etc. I will not film random people in public on purpose. Like you said, concerts and sight seeing might be appropriate but unfortunately we can’t avoid it.

In the EU there are laws that you're allowed to film in public, if there are many people it's okay... But it's a criminal offence to film a specific person and publish it.

I know I'm late here because I recently discovered this channel, and I am binge watching😂 I record a lot of videos of my dogs for my 1953 or something like followers on tt. I love editing and making music videos. I always make sure that I don't record people. Sometimes people can be in the background but in the distance where their faces can not be seen. If there are people walking by, I wait for them to pass or wait for them to do their thing before recording. I don't film my dogs close to playgrounds for obvious reasons. I don't even want to accidentally record someone's child. The only time I recorded someone was when I got physically attacked by a r@cist white man who thought I was from India. I am not Indian not that there is anything wrong with being from India. I recorded him for police after a few incidents, one involving him kicking my little defenseless Maltese. Aside from him, I would never record anyone. Also, there are times when not a lot of people are around. If content creation is your job. Why not plan better? Go to a shopping district early in the morning. Let people know you are recording, and most of the time, people are being respectful and wait until you are done. Content creating is not going anywhere, so we might as well create some etiquette around it. It's not that serious, and it's not that hard to be a little decent. I would like to add one last thing that is not necessarily related to this topic. I would really love to see a video on this channel regarding certain cringe content like "dancing" to that breakfast making song. The one that the sounds are made by kitchen appliances and the guy chopping off things. My God, it's so cringe worthy. The so-called dance trend with that sound is ridiculous, and people get thousands of likes because of it for doing absolutely nothing.

I don't post footage of myself or my family for safety reasons, so it does worry me if strangers have filmed me or my kids unknowingly because I know I would be torn to shreds I'm sure. I'm fairly certain I was filmed pushing my trolley down the ramp at Aldi. I couldn't be sure and I didn't confront the person because I just didn't understand why someone would do it. If she has posted footage of me somewhere, she's getting a death stare so I'm most likely going to be labelled a "Karen." But she could've included which Aldi I was at too, which then tells randoms my location. I don't post my location on any social media for safety, but a stranger could do it without a second thought. I did comment on a random person's photo of a man sitting by the ocean minding his own business in my local area. He was asking for people who know him to send him this photo. I did remind the poster that as a photographer, if you would like to use a person's image you need signed permission. This is what I was taught by a professional photographer who taught the photography course I studied. I explained that this is the correct way to go about it. The response I got was "cool story." So in an age where everyone is a "photographer," no one cares anymore. I don't care if people say "you can film anyone in public," morally, what is the right thing to do.

Film yourself as much as you want. Leave strangers and others who haven't consented out of it. What the hell is it about his generation that they are so entitled that they think it's okay? I follow Joey Swoll. He calls out those who do this at the gym. Don't film others for likes and content. It's just wrong. Pure and simple. As Joey says "Mind your own business". You need to do better".

It is a interesting thing, especially with how everyone is being filmed 24/7 in public areas just by camera's around houses, streets but especially around stores. By law you not allowed to film anyone in their own private home, even in their yard, but *in public you have no rights actually.*

Have we lost all of our manners, respect, common sense and integrity .. 🙄 Ohh .. imagine working in a customer service long shifts every day for a minimal wage, puttin up with been called names and screamed at by all kinds of people. Only to come home to find out that You have gone viral in some kind of made up storyline video with all d flattering angles. All because You got somebody's pizza order wrong and it wasn't even Your fault in the first place.

The guys at the financial institution are on the public sidewalk on purpose. I’m betting they’re “auditors”. They want the people who come up and confront them to lose it and call the police so they can school the police on the constitution, but they can’t do that if they are still on the property of the financial institution because most banks (and even other businesses - I see an insurance company back there too) have legitimate grounds to enforce no filming. Either way, it’s morally wrong (in my opinion) to be taking pictures or video of the doors of businesses or people coming in or out of financial institutions.

I agree with your interpretation of the Karen comment. We have no idea what is going on behind this conversation and ultimately that is just his opinion of the lady. I also feel like the term Karen is over used on social media, like you say something that someone else dislikes and you are called a Karen....Really!? I know I am usually very nice to everyone, but when something happens to my kids I go full on mama bear mode and I do not understand reasoning any longer and go into full defence mode! I guess that would make me a Karen in other people's eyes.
