How did you maintain focus on the pocket while on a glidecam? Just keep the same distance or what? Haha I’ve never shot a wedding before and my cousin asked me to film their wedding and I was planning to shoot it on my Komodo. I was told that it was a horrible idea from my buddy who mainly shoots weddings because of auto focus but if you are able to do it on a pocket I’ve got to imagine it can’t be super difficult if you know what you’re doing.

I am planning to begin shooting video professionally, the bmpcc is what I have my eyes on. It will work with the m43 glass I already have (the sweet sweet voigtlander noktons) and the image quality is fantastic. Very nice to see your work with it. I'm planning to mount mine on a gimbal with a follow focus attachment as it will be small and light enough to manage with one arm while pulling focus with the other. I am also planning to rig it out with a cage and possibly a shoulder rig (I may go for the chest rest style instead though as it would be a bit smaller and more convenient that way. My current cam has great ibis, but having used IBIS for a while some of the detriments are obvious. Quick and unnatural stops and starts when panning or doing other motion, loss of image quality due to heat sinking issues, distortion that occurs on wide angle lenses due to the sensor shifting along the image plane too. Trying to develop more of a taste for the rigged out and handheld look and also looking into what sliders and monopods can do for me. I think a rigged bmpcc on a monopod is practically perfect for getting many kinds of motion, and it can be just swapped out of the rig and onto a gimbal to get ultrasmooth motion as well. Thanks for your video!
@adamkrejci5 жыл бұрын
Great video. Why do you choose glidecam over a gimbal?
@TylerEdwards5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Couple reasons. The BMPCC4K doesn’t balance well on my ronin s and most of the time the 5DIV stays on the ronin. I also honestly am better at the glidecam than the ronin s. I prefer the control over it more. Similar to driving stick shift over automatic transmissions I guess haha.

it IS the perfect camera for weddings. You just simply don't have the time to set manual WB before each shot and nailing the perfect exposure isn't easy either when there's so much going on around you - all these resulting in ugly skintones, aka the worst enemy of wedding films. Yes it doesn't have AF but instead you get a second chance in post production to correct messed up settings which is extremely valuable imho.

@TylerEdwards5 жыл бұрын
Ya, for one I am just better with the steadicam than I am with the gimbal. I like the finer control of the stradicam but that’s also just due to the fact that I’m better shooting with the steadicam. Additionally, I keep my 5DIV on Ronin S. If I could balance the BMPCC4K on the Ronin S, I might use it more so I could use a follow focus, but I haven’t found the need quite yet.

Hey!! Great video and thanks for taking the time to do it. You answered a question I asked on another video about dynamic range compared to Sony 7iii, and I appreciate that. So how about compared to C200? Also as I said before, I am really on the fence with bmpcc4k and one big reason is because I am a Sony shooter and have been for the last five years. When I switched to Sony, I sold my Canon glass, and invested in Sony. The issue for me is that I cannot adapt Sony lenses to the bmpcc4k so I am also going to have to invest in glass also.... do you use any m4/3 native lenses? Or do you feel it’s better to use the speed booster and adapted lenses?? Thanks in advance for taking the time to read and answer my lengthy and possibly annoying question.😀😀
@TylerEdwards5 жыл бұрын
I’d say that the C200 pulls ahead when shooting in cinema raw light. As for lenses, I’m not very well versed in MFT lenses simply because all my glass is EF since my other two cameras are EF mount. I think there are some good MFT mount cinema lenses out there. I’m not a huge fan of a lot of MFT lenses since they are focus by wire like many Sony lenses. The best part about adapting lenses is using a speedbooster which helps in widening the FOV getting it close to S35 like my C200. Hope this helps!

I’m watching Because WHY. No autofocus, no full frame to impress out the box... I see work work work. Get a canon. Go auto and release fast.

I have a Canon (C200 and 5D Mark IV). Autofocus is nice to have for weddings but not a necessity. I prefer image quality of autofocus.
