One thing I like about this film, that I am sure a few people can identify with is the realism. One way in which the show is very realistic is that the main character is a very average, plain looking woman, not a glorified barbie doll. They didn't try to make her beautiful either, as far as movies go, we have come a long way from the old days when people all looked perfect/lived in a mansion/drove a fancy car, etc.

which is good when it comes to body image. We all know that celebrities such as Paris Hilton do NOT look the same when stripped of all their makeup, but young girls do not know this, and they think this is real. I watched a ton of movies growing up and it hurt me that I wasn't beautiful and wealthy like the other girls, living the dream life.

@tashaschneider141910 жыл бұрын
***** What is illogical is saying "it's just a movie, calm down." Got a funny idea of "just" around here. Movies like this exist to try and make something barbaric (in this case abortion) commonplace and even "cute". This movie clearly is not just light-hearted entertainment, but manipulative and agenda-driven.
@tashaschneider141910 жыл бұрын
***** I do not care about what other people think, Nayd. Abortion is a moral atrocity (not an opinion, either) that is worth getting angry about. And please, spare me the tired line of "there's more in TV and movies that are a cause for concern." There are of course all kinds of things to get angry about in today's culture, not the least of which is the lack of respect for human life, born and unborn alike. This particular movie is a feminist fantasy, and a response to their incessant demands that girls have abortions in movies. It's even spelled out in the trailer: "The subversive rom com you've been wanting!" Just who has been wanting a romantic comedy about a one night stand and abortion, portrayed in a rather merry light? Male bashing, child hating feminists, of course! You would do well to realize when you are being manipulated through media.
@Andreavampirelover10 жыл бұрын
Tasha Schneider I just wanna say if you believe that abortion is a "Moral Atrocity", then fine, that means you never have a abortion, but there's no reason for you to bash other people who do get one. Its their body, and their choice. This movie is simply a comedy, not meant to be taken so seriously as you are taking it.
@tashaschneider141910 жыл бұрын
***** It's good to be set in one's ways. You would do well to look deeper into the feminist movement, peel back their "equality" rhetoric, and perhaps begin with a biography of the "mother" of modern feminism: Margaret "Cruelty of Charity" Sanger. Founder of Planned Parenthood, lousy mother, unfaithful wife, promoter of eugenics and infanticide, and all around rotten human being. In fact, Planned Parenthood's president Cecile Richards is coughing up praises for this movie left and right. Do you sense a rather manipulative agenda? I certainly do...

Well... A movie about a woman being sexually irresponsible and having an abortion accompanied by the 1 night stand father and then being cozy on a couch watching a movie... if they stay as a couple, which I can't imagine happening, they can celebrate the scrapping of their potential child out of her uterus every year because that is oh so acceptable now.
@slynn36010 жыл бұрын
Abortion happens, it's part of life. I for one prefer to have an abortion instead of giving birth to a child who will be raised in an abusive household, starved of love, food & basic care. Pro lifers are so smug about limiting abortion, acting like pregnancy occurs in an ideal bubble where everything is perfect! Utter nonsense! I think it's not only hypocritical but downright dangerous to have anti abortion laws, at the same time limit birth control & good honest sex education! I think it's dangeous to have politicians have anti abortion laws, while reducing aid to poor parents, passing restrictive laws on orphanages. Where do you think these women will take a child they give birth to that they can't care for? They'll be dumped into the foster system, which by the way is highly under funded. I worked in social work & I saw in many cases parents to kids they couldn't afford would throw their newborn babies in the GARBAGE. Yet, here we are having religious zealots fight to control abortion. What is worse, a terminated pregnancy (which btw occurs in 50% of pregnancies naturally anyway & we call it a miscarriage) or we force the parents to carry a pregnancy to term, have a baby thrown at the mercy of an orphanage, left at the church door or worse thrown in the garbage? Oh & by the way, late term abortions which pro lifers shout to the high heavens occur in a tiny minority of abortions. The MAJORITY of abortions 85% occurs in early pregnancy. The late term abortions, while rare actually occurs because of serious health problems with the foetus,or serious problems for the mother. Pro lifers make me wonder at how smug & self satisfied they can be when they many times don't know the realities of life on the ground. How many of you have worked in an orphanage How many of you have seen a drug addicted mother selling their "no good kids" on the street for a hit? How about the women with men who are physically violent?Why deny such a woman the chance to escape her oppressor? Did you know there are many abusive partners who get their partners pregnant in order to have more control over them? How many of you are pro life but in the same breath yell at how "useless" people are who give birth to kids they can't take care of? How many of you ask why a woman couldn't "close her legs" yet lobby for restriction for birth control, or make birth control highy expensive?
@elizabethmacdonald969 жыл бұрын
One of the best pro choice arguments I've ever had the pleasure of reading. You did a fantastic job of portraying the real situations of many people face which render them unable or unwilling to care for a child. Bravo!
@barbaro2675 жыл бұрын
I would think that life and being given the chance to make one's own decisions are worth sparing a child's life, don't you? Pro-abortioners are very narrow minded because their arguments are never universally consistent, and they always bring in those tiny or misleading statistics (rape/incest pregnancies or mother's lives being threatened) as an attempt to explain the necessity to destroy a life for the sake of another. Abortion is, at its core, the belief that a surprise baby is an "inconvenience" and is therefore not human, and its death is moral and good. If that isn't an example of evil, then I don't know what is.
@g.w.hampton55252 жыл бұрын
If just half of the crazy radical attention and financial support given to "pro-abortion and women's rights" were given to "women's health and safety, pregnancy prevention and counseling there would be far less need for uterine scraping.

s lynn Or maybe just stay celibate. I'm a man I have to stay celibate. So I'm not a hypocrite. Abortion shouldn't be a part of life. It should be a last ditch effort. Women treat sex like a part of life and a right for them then say men aren't entitled to sex. Rules for thee. I don't mean to insult you, this is just what makes sense to me. I happen to be pro-life, but for reasons completely unrelated to that this movie just seems... Weird. Like, is it REALLY a romantic comedy about getting into a relationship with the guy you had a (wonderful) one-night-stand with which lead to pregnancy which you terminated? I mean, that could have been made just another part of the plot, but given the title of the movie, the abortion is clearly supposed to be a central theme of the movie...
@greggiovanni78910 жыл бұрын
The abortion is not the central theme it is a plot point. The title refers to the lead. She is having trouble not behaving like a child. Her mother and boyfriend help her through the abortion and she gains insight into her self and her problems. I saw it and it is a realistic portrayal of a young women’s life. I’ve helped many women through their abortions… In each case, it was the best mode of action for everyone (including what you would call, ‘the unborn child.’)
@tashaschneider141910 жыл бұрын
Greg Giovanni This movie looks like disgusting feminist garbage. Thank God for people who give life to their unborn children, and take responsibility. Abortion is never the best mode of action for anyone except selfish pigs. You do not even know what they're throwing away.
@greggiovanni78910 жыл бұрын
Tasha Schneider Wow, my dear, you do have some issues… If I were you, I would see somebody before you do your self (or others) harm. (PS You simply can’t make decisions for other people, that is what is driving you bonkers.) (PPS If you hate feminism so much, why don’t you give up your vote?)
@tashaschneider141910 жыл бұрын
Greg Giovanni I don't have issues, but Jenny Slate does. I don't harm people, but FEMINISTS do, with their female superiority bs, their lack of respect and oftentimes sickening hatred for men, and their vile hatred of children (I'm looking at you, Amanda Marcotte). Did you know that Susan B. Anthony called abortion "child murder"? The "hero" of modern feminism is not the suffragettes who fought for voting rights, but Margaret Sanger, one of the most evil women in history. She promoted infanticide, and wanted to enjoy sex without the "burden" of unwanted children. This monster is who feminists emulate.
@greggiovanni78910 жыл бұрын
Again, you are simplifying and generalizing. No mention of Emma Goldman? Or even the Modern feminists, Gloria Steinem et. al.? You have no idea what makes a ‘feminist ‘ Your lack of (or blindness to?) knowledge and understanding is jaw dropping. This is my last reaction to your drivel…I can only suggest you to read the works of true feminist (to which we add the 'cum laude' honored Emma Watson.) Real research will help you become a person with hope for the future.

I can't help but shake my head at the people who think that whether you should KILL AN UNBORN CHILD is up to the mother. Do your biology. That body developing inside of you, isn't yours. Sure it contains half of your DNA, but it isn't a body part. It isn't a mole you can just go and get it removed. That is someone else's body... with a heart, a brain, and a pulse. This really shouldn't be that hard to figure out. There really shouldn't even be a discussion if abortion is right or wrong. Shouldn't it be obvious? Heeeellllooooooo. Do you not remember what you learned in health class? You are carrying SOMEONE ELSE's body. It's not up to you if it lives or not. That's up to the developing human him/herself.
