Bong Joon Ho and Song Kang Ho joined Film at Lincoln Center for a special Q&A following a screening of Parasite, which continues playing daily. They discussed the worldwide acclaim for the film, the twists beyond the first act, and the future of their long-running collaboration. Get tickets for Parasite: www.filmlinc.o...
In Bong Joon Ho’s exhilarating new film, a threadbare family of four struggling to make ends meet gradually hatches a scheme to work for, and as a result infiltrate, the wealthy household of an entrepreneur, his seemingly frivolous wife, and their troubled kids. How they go about doing this-and how their best-laid plans spiral out to destruction and madness-constitutes one of the wildest, scariest, and most unexpectedly affecting movies in years, a portrayal of contemporary class resentment that deservedly won the Cannes Film Festival’s Palme d’Or. As with all of this South Korean filmmaker’s best works, Parasite is both rollicking and ruminative in its depiction of the extremes to which human beings push themselves in a world of unending, unbridgeable economic inequality. A NEON release.
Film at Lincoln Center is dedicated to supporting the art and elevating the craft of cinema and enriching film culture.
Film at Lincoln Center fulfills its mission through the programming of festivals, series, retrospectives, and new releases; the publication of Film Comment; the presentation of podcasts, talks, and special events; the creation and implementation of Artist Initiatives; and our Film in Education curriculum and screenings. Since its founding in 1969, this nonprofit organization has brought the celebration of American and international film to the world-renowned arts complex Lincoln Center, making the discussion and appreciation of cinema accessible to a broad audience, and ensuring that it remains an essential art form for years to come.

even after multiple q&as at flc its still fresh and fascinating and funny. he just has such a warm and wonderful demeanor, not showy or cocky when explaining his thought processes. by now hes probably done a hundred of these but he gives very considered responses and never arrogant. just makes me admire him more. go bongtail ! go get that oscar !

For me, the part I felt myself relate to the most was seeing Song Kang Ho’s character finally snap. The feeling of being apart of a group, but when it really comes down to it, you’re still on the outside, I thought was captured very well and the look in song kang ho’s eyes too.

Of course, Bong Joon Ho can’t really say the _real_ reason why _Parasite_ has “resonated” (ugh) with audiences around the world so he’ll joke about the wi-fi instead: it’s a *great* movie with a compelling (and, at times, hilarious) story, pitch-perfect acting, smart writing, gorgeous cinematography, and a lot more. And I _love_ how, at 2:15, while Song Kang Ho is answering, Bong is sneaking a peek at Dennis Lim’s questions and then quickly straightens up when Lim looks up-it’s like watching a little kid _almost_ get caught with his hand in the cookie jar.
@jeff__w

@@dragonhkss Well, his eyes lock with Dennis Lim’s for just a split second and _then_ Bong straightens up and looks straight ahead as if nothing’s happened. It’s sort of a playful, endearing moment, like a scene out of one of his movies.
