Hey uncle Scott, sorry for the length of this post but there is quite a bit of information to pass on. First a little about Diana Ankudinova. Diana was born on May 31, 2003 and was 21 on May 31, 2024. She was 14 years old on February 10 2018 during her first appearance on a talent show for disadvantaged young teen’s called “You Are Super” where she first performed “Dernière Danse”, in the first round of the “You Are Supper”, vocal competition along with two other songs, “Rechenka”, a Russian folk song sung in the second round. Russian folk song was sung in Russian, and the third and final round was a cover of the James Brown classic “It’s A Mans World”. This competition version of “Dernière Danse”, is an abbreviated version used to accommodate the time limit of this competition. Diana ended wining the “You Are Super” competition. Next is a video of a solo concert performance that happened sometime between Diana winning the 2018 season of the “You Are Super” competition and the 2019 season of “You are Super”, which was called the Super Season because the winners and first runner’s up of previous competitions were invited back to compete against each other. After winning the second season of the “You Are Super” vocal competition, Diana Ankudinova performed the full version of Dernière Danse which is in my opinion the best version of “Dernière Danse”, was during Diana’s Good Wave Festival performance which was a concert, not a competition. It’s well worth your time to view the full song from the Good Wave Festival that took place in Kazan on November 30, 2018 when Diana was between 15 and 16 years old. She was taking a few moments to assume and fall into the character she was portraying in this song, (Diana “assuming” the character in this song can be seen in this version of “Dernière Danse”). You can see by the look on her face, after a few seconds, she there, she has slipped into and assumed the character in this song. So, Diana is not just sing a song, she is communicating with the audience. Diana is sharing the feelings, thoughts and emotions of this character with the audience. Diana Ankudinova was not afraid at all, and she is defiantly not intimidated, she is fearless on stage and is a true stage animal. Diana Ankudinova was born to be on stage. I don’t know the who, where or when a reactor started reacting to Diana Ankudinova, but it must have piqued the interest of some real vocal professional’s because they also started listening to, and reacting to KZbin videos of Diana, and they commented on the quality of her voice. Soon thereafter the word spread and other reactors along with reactors that again, are real vocal professionals, along with professional sound and recording engineers also started paying attention, and reacted to Diana Ankudinova. Some professional’s were even starting to suggest, based on her vocal range measurement taken the previous year, along with her present vocal timbre, she could be a true contralto voice in the making, and a contralto is a very, very rare vocal type.
