The black blips were where Hulu put in ads. For some reason they put those black frames in even if you are watching without ads. Such an amazing episode with such a captivating use of the one take, and then Hulu decides to ruin it.

My favorite little detail about this episode is that the more chaotic it got the calmer Richie got. It's insane how chaotic he can be when things are calm, but everything hits the fan including him getting stabbed and it's the one time he doesn't even raise his voice.

What sticks out in my mind is Carmy taking time to try the jelly donuts and acknowledging they are indeed amazing. Just a quick moment of humor in a very stressful episode.

It sticks out to me how Richie may not like Syd, but he was willing to put that ish to the side to help her prep. Instead of her doing the same, she hits below the belt.

An underrated aspect of this episode is how relaxing and beautiful the music is at the start of the episode and how it slowly ramps up and becomes more chaotic as the stress piles on to each character.

Perfect use of a great song: "Spiders (Kidsmoke)" by Wilco. It repeats the same structure for 10 minutes, but makes it slightly more intense for every repetition.

This episode is so good, not just for the cinematography but the writing. Despite the chaos you can follow every moment of character development and read every emotion so clearly. Each character gets to further their storyline even during the oner. And then Carmie eats a donut off the ground. Perfection 🤌

As someone who has run multiple kitchens, this show is the full drama and experience of life running a restaurant, it is hectic and stressful but when you get it singing smoothly there is an unappreciated beauty of teamwork and harmony that tv managed to capture for just a runtime

This one take episode goes in hand with the film Boiling Point - a feature genuinely done in one take, incredible and well worth the stress it puts you through. I ended up working in a kitchen after that film and it is so realistic it is insane.

One of my favourite things about this episodes is the lack of background music as things start to go to shit…all you can hear is the constant ringing of the orders coming through which as someone that has worked in kitchens for many years, you can fully appreciate the kid of stress just that sound can cause….love it 👌😂

Sydney and Marcus are the ones that need to apologize to Carmy
@coffinflop
@coffinflop 5 ай бұрын
tbf tho marcus busted the fuse of the whole place because he was behind and carmy was straightforward and kind to him, the issue carmy is apologising for is his temper and unprofessional conduct. like yes both syd and marcus messed up this episode and in major ways but i think carmy yelling at them like that was kind of unconscionable, plus with syd he just offloaded everything on to her (like tina's son) and expected her to pick up his slack. i think he felt he had to apologize because he didn't want to be the toxic angry guy who can't keep his temper in check with his employees. EDIT however syd definitely needs to apologize to richie. like objectively. not just for the stabbening but for what she said to him which was mean as hell

Most understand the concept of shyt rolls downhill. In a business atmosphere it's not in everyone's faces so it kind of hits from left field and slowly people deal with it. Alot behind closed doors or in cubicles. In the restraunt biz, your office or cubicle is this tiny bubble around you so the shyt moves fast and gets everywhere quickly and at a boiling point that rarely gets to simmer down. It's a warfield. It's a minefield.

I would like to recommend or remind you some movies for your latest sci-fi watch and reviews. George Lucas’s first movie ever, 1971 dystopian “THX 1138.” Sci-fi horror, George Romero’s 1985 “Day of The Dead,” and 1986 “Night of The Creeps,” directed by Fred Drekker. Including a 1984 sci-fi comedy, “Repo Man” directed by Alex Cox. Take Care!!

It's great that after getting so used to following characters who do bad things- to watch these characters curse and scream abuse at each other becomes something that's intense yet you still hang on the by the thin thread of knowing the very moral context that it take place within.

So this episode gives me actual anxiety. The restaurant I used to work for added Doordash at a certain point, and it was total bullshit. Nothing like this happened to us, but the Doordash orders were a merciless bitch. We could be slammed on a saturday night in the middle of an epic rush, and suddenly the Doordash printer just starts spitting out insanely huge orders that we need to fill within 30 minutes or we're gonna get a ton of bad reviews. I still see that in my nightmares. So I totally understand the complete mental breakdown that Carmy has in this episode as shit spirals completely beyond his control.

One thing I wanted to mention was the ticker tape of orders being fed directly to the grilling area, like an IV. If some are unaware of this diabolical evil piece of machinery that's literally destroyed businesses. Ok let's put it this way. Let's say you have an imaginary advert that is being sent out to your city and a few neighboring areas and it runs all day long just in case anybody misses it. Now imagine all the people viewing it with a hunger notion and poof, now ticker taped. Now imagine your husy as fug already with walk-ins. And your inventory planning on this, pfffft! Next 3 days, maybe 70 orders. Irregardless if these things are even picked up, you gotta do it or your triple smashed with heads waiting. 2 words business tanked. Oh my god I feel for yall that just had a dispensary or 2 added in your local. 😂😂😂Hahahaha Now imagine the look of every business owner, chef, line person that got ticker installed for Uber Eats, Grub Hub, Door Dash, etc,. Oh yeah that's the face. And people wonder why Keeps Hair Restoration adverts are most common on KZbin. Bammmm!

When Syd denies this clusterfuq is her fault, I’m pretty sure she knows the DoorDash/UberEats order window thing is her fault, BUT the failure of the whole kitchen to respond to it is definitely not just on her… like filling all those orders for togos will be nigh impossible, but they’re still orders for which people are paying and there’s non-fantasy situation where a kitchen could make it through

Carm bears a lot of the responsibility here as well, he gets a newbie to oversee a new program entirely no oversight. Doesn’t ensure things are done correctly before starting even though he’s a perfectionist? Every person sans Tina were responsible here

@@jasminewilliams1673 you’re probably right, but also the last episode presents the audience the presumption that they have a rhythm now; it’s just 1) deceptively tenuous, 2) offered in denial of bigger unresolved issues that haven’t had to time or attention to really confront; like Richie and Syd don’t even get on board with one another for many many episodes after this
