Maybe Rose Marie submitted this episode to the Emmy Award judges for consideration. It certainly showcases her range as an actress. She was nominated three times for her iconic role as Sally Rogers, but always had to compete against single performances by supporting actresses in dramatic programs (series or specials), until the 5th and final season when she and Agnes Moorehead lost to Alice Pearce (Gladys Kravitz on “Bewitched”). Otherwise, it is quite likely Rose Marie would have four Emmy Awards on her mantle.

I really loved Rose Marie, so talented, beautiful and so funny. Although I didn't like it when they made her the gal who couldn't get a date. Even Rose Marie said that really bothered her saying she could sing and dance had a great figure and was married in real life, but because of her outgoing personality and brassy humor they wrote storylines of her being pathetically lonely, like women who are like that can't also be attractive, that really made her angry, me too I thought everything about her was beautiful

The running gag of Sally being desperately single was always a good one, but somewhat unbelievable IMO.....Sally has a great bod, is pretty, smart, funny and kind, dresses like a million bucks, is marriage minded and is somehow still single? I think IRL she would have had lots of dates and would probably be married.

I've watched this show off and on for 62 years, and just tonight realized the front door has no latch---there's no way it could have been locked, neither by just closing it, nor by deadbolt! Also, there's a window seat in Sally's apartment where there couldn't have been a window; supposedly there's a hallway outside that "window," and it was a purpose-built apartment building, so the builder wouldn't have put a window into a hall. Another oddity; the apartment was on the second floor (going by the apartment numbers), yet it was a garden apartment, with its own access to the grounds outside the French doors in the living room.

There is a lot of that in this series. I don't think they had anyone in charge of continuity. There should be a big rock in Rob's basement but it is only there in 1 episode.

Funny because there's a line on Mad About You where they left the door unlocked and I think it's Jamie's mom who says "what do you think this is, New Rochelle?!" And Paul Reiser clearly had a major affinity for the Dick Van Dyke Show with his great episode of Mad About You entitled "The Alan Brady Show" where he finds out that Alan Brady (played by Carl Reiner) is really not the nice guy he appeared to be on TV (meaning a show about someone who had a show who never actually had a show! 😆)

AND it appeared to be friggin' huge! Is it possible that salaries in the 60's were goods enough to allow a single woman, who worked as comedy writer, to earn enough to own that place??

@@shawnmalloy2919 Actually, it would have been very small; the kitchen, which had only a sink and tiny undercounter fridge (no stove or oven), dining area, and living room were just that one space shown, plus one bedroom and a standard size bathroom. And her salary back then would have been very good, but it's only a comedy show....rent prices, apartment sizes, etc., didn't have to be real. Oh, and she supposedly was making a lasagna---with no method of cooking it.

Leo Fassbinder is played by actor George Neise. He was in many movies and TV shows, usually as the bad guy. I just saw him this afternoon in a 1959 episode of "Death Valley Days", "The Stagecoach Spy". He was very good in his part as a crooked businessman, the leader of an outlaw group that robs stagecoaches. I'm pleased that gets to be a good guy in this show. My question is: "Sally, what happened to Herman Glimscher?" 😆 "Did you also throw him out?" "Your rash actions remind of a woman I know...ah..." 🙄 "She didn't get many 2nd dates." "Now she doesn't date at all!"😖

My how times have changed! Then Sally was a successful comedy writer when there were very few women doing that. Why? Because most women choose wife and mother over a career. Nowadays, it would be both. One that pays very well and one that pays nothing. Work on the clock at one place, just to go work off the clock at another. Poor Sally. Back then, society made a woman feel less than just because she had no husband or significant other. Fast forward to now, and Sally would have been a real catch👌! Single, successful, very funny, and anything but lonely.
