I like the new Jeff. It’s easy in this hobby to obsess and let the OCD take the wheel thus draining all of the fun out of it (I would assume 1000 times easier when you are running a successful channel). Appreciating your situation and the fact that we are blessed to be able to have these collections, equipment and amazing ways to enjoy our movies at home is where it’s at.

You could easily put overheads in the drop ceiling for heights. Believe me, it makes a difference. Things will actually be above you and it’s way more immersive. I have four overheads, but having at least two in the ceiling is very noticeable. For my TV, I cut access outlets in the drywall behind the TV and behind the entertainment stand. Then you can run all your power and hdmi cables in the wall. It makes it look nice and clean and you don’t have that strip covering on the wall. It’s a pretty easy mod as well. I would still lower the rears some, high enough where the kids can’t reach, but you already know. lol Still a nice home theater you have.

The best set up to watch a film on is the one you have, I grew up poor and didn't get a TV till I was around 13, when I did it was a small portable piece of junk, the signal was so bad that I could only get 2 channels to partially work and both were fuzzy and black and white, after getting it working as best I could one of the channels started to air "Predator" which I sat and enjoyed, now every time I get a new piece of tech I sit and watch that film and enjoy it all over again whilst appreciating what I have.

You did something many home movie lovers forget about....painting the walls a dark mostly neutral color to prevent/lessen light spill on screen that lessens contrast and takes away some of the inherent color and contrast quality of modern TVs. Sitting 10 feet from a 65 inch screen is close to canceling 4k image advantage vs 1080 hd. Eventually lowering tv a good idea, get if farther away from white ceiling along with more natural/optimum viewing angle. Eight feet viewing distance is better for sure. My room setup is similar to yours, i.e. couch seating against wall, tv opposite wall, so eventually I moved couch about 3 feet away from wall and closer to screen, which left enough space to easily walk behind, and now enjoy full 4k experience. Excellent tour, thanks Jeff!
@pieterbalk-ht7kq
@pieterbalk-ht7kq 3 ай бұрын
You put it perfectly. With a 65” this high and sitting this far away from the screen @Jeff Rauseo gets none of the advantages of 4K. Which is a pity with such an amazing collection. But it is a problem with many “collectors”, they invest most of their money in lots and lots of media. Instead they should invest in proper equipment and wiring to watch and listen to it, and then having a proper space to set it up the right way.

Top tip from a fellow home theater enthusiast…. Use brackets to precisely aim speakers toward the main listening position instead of attaching directly to wall. The difference in sound improvement is astonishing.

@JeffRauseo 3 ай бұрын
I know - SVS recommended the same, but I just wanted to keep it clean and I didn’t have space for the brackets on the right side
@user-sr2wv1ol6e
@user-sr2wv1ol6e 3 ай бұрын
Yeah, I mean this way the rear speakers are pointing more towards the TV than the actual listener. Probably the sound comes more from the front than the back. If mines are a few degrees wrongly aligned (e.g. because I slightly moved then while cleaning), I instantly notice it during the next movie. 10° of angle movement make the sound from „where is it“ to „wow, I can feel it“. Can‘t imagine that those rear speakers come even close to fulfilling their potential. There are easy ways to fix this, even with those walls, e.gy, mounting/hanging them to/from the ceiling. Still kids friendly. Anyway, get creative Jeff (when you find the time), it‘s worth it! 😛

I’d also love to have in ceiling Atmos speakers rather then front heights which I don’t feel ass much in the way of Atmos but we don’t all have a dedicated room and budget to make a perfect home cinema.

You can either use the width like you have it or the length of the space, of course this works better for the other family members like the kids which is understandable, but the space is great. At least you have it😅 Me and my wife are tired of the apartment life although really nice and full of amenities, but we want the space and privacy to have our own movie and gaming room.

Thanks for the room tour Jeff, great setup! I like the room color too, I might see if my local store can make that color using the RGB code, thanks for the link. One option you have when you go to update the TV is to change to an ultra short throw 4k projector. @@JeffRauseo You could sit a UST projector on top of the center speaker or you can ceiling or wall mount them above a screen (that would stop little fingers getting all over the lens 😊) and invert the picture in its settings. I've got the Panasonic sc-htb900 3.1 soundbar with the down firing wireless Subwoofer, 505w. Audio connected to the Panasonic dp-ub420, audio input, then main connected to a Panasonic HDR10+ LED TV, with a little tweeking for a little auto back lighting, to get a little better black levels in dark scenes, an LED light strip to light it's wall a bit, works good, with just a lamp on behind my chair. ATMOS DTSX and DTS-HD master audio Neutral X, great for DTS-HD master audio films. When it's time for a new TV, only have to get an updated player, for new TV requirements. Still be all great. 👍 Great room setup you've got there. 👍

Cool have been looking for a basement forever. You could do a UST that are really decent with a screen. Could get more of a movie type experience.
