I don’t know if this question makes sense, or maybe it reveals a flaw in my concept. Why does the color plot stop at the line on the triangle and gather at the edge of the gamut? Why can’t the color plot points outside of the gamut triangle be represented in the larger CIE 1931 range so that we can see what those points would be?

If you are in Rec709 you cannot display pixels out of Rec709 gamut. To see pixels outside of Rec709 gamut triangle you'd need to use wider input/working colorspace (like rec. 2020).

@@filmsbytomasz I thought that the rec709 triangle was the output gamut.

@@InnerCityProjections …and this is what you usually want to have on your scopes - the output gamut.

@@InnerCityProjections built in Resolve scopes show you output (display) gamut as well.

Thanks. I just thought it would be useful to see the colors plot points outside of the output gamut displayed in the cie 1931 map. Instead the points gather at the border of the triangle in Davinci resolve.
