When you live in a socialist welfare state, which the USA is rapidly becoming, respect for the hardworking and loyal is the first to go. Unfortunately, it's not likely to get better. The sad fact is that the idea of the US being the most powerful country in the world is no longer accurate. That description now belongs to China. And make no mistake: They are coming for us. They're annexing the entire South China Sea (look it up). Taiwan (of course) and South Korea are in their sights. The East China Sea--and Japan along with it--will be next. Japan has made the unbelievably stupid mistake of swearing off nuclear weapons...they're going to need them. Meanwhile, Russia is trying to expand into its neighboring states although they admittedly are not doing the greatest job of it. And although it was reported a month or so ago Russia and China have been JOINTLY flying recon missions against Alaska, clearly probing the US defenses. The US stupidly unfroze Iranian assets at a time when Iran was basically broke. As a result Iran is now able to finance Hamas and Hezbollah, whose fundamental reason for existing is to wipe Israel off the map. US professors are assisting their efforts by indoctrinating our young people to become Hamas puppets. And finally, North Korea has been actively working for decades on ways to expand into South Korea. The result of all this is that the US is under a coordinated attack by unified forces whose sole goal is to remove us from the world stage. And the sad fact is that we're helping them by focusing on social issues while simultaneously being completely oblivious to what's coming. Don't believe me? Look at history: Look at the way Germany expanded into Europe in WWII. Look at how North Vietnam expanded into South Korea in the 70s. Look at how Russia is now expanding into Ukraine. Make no mistake: The US' way of life is under coordinated attack by forces committed to exterminating us. And what are we doing about it? Nothing...well, that's not really accurate: WE ARE HELPING THEM! Wake up people...while there is still time.

In a real situation similar to the home invasion scene, there are many variables that the victim has to assess in a few seconds or less, and every situation is different. Hutch made the only rational decision he could. He knew the robbers were rank amateurs who barely knew what they were doing, and he didn't want to risk destroying the "deep cover" of the boring life he had worked so long to maintain. As we see later in the film, when he and his family were confronted with a serious threat, he reacted very much differently and wasn't concerned about his "cover life."
