Just a little addition regarding the Exes. They didn't really died after their battles with Scott. It was confirmed by Edgar Wright and Brian Lee O'Malley in an interview after the movie was released. They just straight up respawns at their houses, Minecraft style. God I love this series so much.

But since the series itself actually does call it out, and Scott is in a more… actually acceptable relationship (plus if I recall, concent laws in Canada), this is likely more meant to show how immature Scott was and how dumb he actually is.

That I think is part of the point. Ramona was a bad person who has tried to grow up, hence why she doesn’t want to date Scott until he defeats the evil exes, aka she and he move beyond the bad behavior that created the evil exes in the first place. They were both garbage people with the potential to be better.

For as much as people mention how bad Scott is, they forget to mention how horrible Ramona’s treatment of Scott is. She constantly ghosts him or refuses to answer important questions about the exes that could literally SAVE HIS LIFE. This is even more prominent in the comics, where she ends up ghosting him for several months which causes Scott to develop genuine depression.

Dude, you could not have timed this theory better. This was just my special interest for a month. (Still kind of is) I played the game for the first time with my dad on Christmas, and it was super nostalgic because we used to play Beat 'em Ups a lot when I was like 8. I ended up beating the game on my own and then promptly read the comics and eventually watched the movie while working back up to beating the game for a second time. I'm at level seven and I'm totally going to die three more times trying to beat Gideon. (The game is actually one of the hardest and most fun games I've played in a while, Gideon's boss fight is no joke)
