Filson Duffle Bag Review - MEDIUM RUGGED TWILL

I purchased a medium in tan in 2009 or 2010. Use it to travel back and forth to work on a monthly basis (28 days on 28 days off a boat). It has held up well, fully packed it is easier for me to carry on my shoulder.

Just a heads up for those who may purchase an early Filson Medium Twill Duffel. I bought mine in 1995 brand new from French Creek Outfitters in Pennsylvania. It does not have any inside pockets and the solid brass zipper is marked TALON, not YKK or Filson. I have never had any issues with the zipper. In fact, I'd say it has gotten better (easier slide) with 27 years of use.

Which size do you find yourself using more often? The Medium or Small? I am trying to decide which one to get.

Correction to my first comment. Mine DOES have 2 little pockets. - one on each end. Honestly I never noticed them before!? Also, the TALON zips are stamped USA on the side of the car as well.

Great review! Looks a bit like a more affordable alternative to the B&W duffels. They also seem to share a bit of design language & material choice like canvas & leather. Can this be said about the craftmanship as well?

Filson is definitely cheaper but it also has a reputation for great repairs and warranty. The B&W have a bit more to them in terms of pockets, leather, laptop areas etc so I guess that makes them more expensive.

@@TioMogi I would say B&W is definitely more refined. You get more pockets and overall the product feels like a higher quality yet rugged and durable. B&W do also offer lifetime warranty. I love both brands and Filson also has a long history of producing great products.

11,500 what? on their website, this is for sale for $575 + 10.5% sales tax. i went to the flagship store yesterday and it's quite a nice store except they don't have any leather duffels which is why i'm considering a korchmar twain 22" leather weekender duffel
