The FIMI X8 flight dynamics are skewed to yaw with a front biased axis as opposed to the rear on DJI drones, meaning the FIMI factory PID settings make it a far sportier flyer. (Try doing funnels on both and see what I mean). You didn't mention the dropper function built into the microphone module of this drone (it can release items from the air). Also you are wrong about the wind ability. You must have watched it hovering in the wind which the FIMI is not a stable hoverer. However once this drone is flying it can easily handle level 8 winds which it is factory rated at. (The Mini 3 Pro is rated to handle level 5 wind). Additionally the FIMI is snow and rain proof. Range wise the FIMI is a beast and will far exceed the DJI mini drones which are limited by their batteries and controller frequency. Dustin Dunnill flew the older 2020 version (without the newer stronger RokLink transmission) 5.3 miles /8.5kms

I always wondered why I was able to orbit with my Mini 2 after I got it but I could not get it down with my FIMI X8 SE 2020 even after adjusting settings. That explains it. I really liked the FIMI it just had QC issues. My ribbon cable for the gimbal I'm pretty sure was loose. FIMI's customer service was not great either so I just returned the drone. It 100% cut through the wind much better than my Mini 2. The Mini 2 IMO leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to wind but I assume with it's lack of mass that is expected.

@@rhdrones1599I got the original 2018 model and a year or so later the camera stopped working. Pure static. I spent $69 shipping the drone to China, they spent a week repairing it and sent it back with a battery! So I actually made $10 on the repair 😂 anyway QC is meh, warranty support was 👌 for me personally. Might upgrade to 2022 version some day

I fly a FIMI X8 and a DJI mini and trust me when I say the FIMI kills the DJI in every way. With DJI you're simply paying for the name, and that doesn't make it fly any better.

I’ve been flying drones for 8 years and I know when something feels odd. This drone doesn’t compare to DJI drones in terms of flight control. Trust me I know.

@@TheSkyHighFilms - Of course it feels odd to fly any drone you're not used to. I feel more comfortable flying the FIMI over the DJI but that's my preference and the FIMI is a larger drone. To say that one drone is better than the other based on what you're used to flying is wrong. PS. I've been at it for a while too.

@@JeremyAtYou The thorn in the side of every 2022 v2 owner know it or not I'll tell you, its the variable frame rate instead of constant frame rate. This means yaw turning looks jumpy and or choppy depending on the frame rate, other than that this is a awesome drone I agree.

Did your setting braking to 75 or 80 you can control it better and switch your camera to 48 mp and put on high res. When you tune it share your setting.

Muito bom. Você testa uma marca diferente. Esse drone não e um dos melhores. Mais para diversão. Tirar umas fotos. Fazer vídeos simples. Pelo custo benefício serve para muitas pessoas. Quando você regular a câmera ficar mais suave e regular o controle ficar mais suave e menos sensível ao toque você perceberá a diferença de vôo. Ele de fábrica vem com a configuração muito arisca. we are not all....professional for drones so that one is perfect for hobby users and it cost 400 euros at the moment before the X8 pro come to market ! ,,,800 m of altitude plus less no fly zones or combatibility of the app with mobiles make it best choice for amateurs !!!

I would say that mini 2 is the best choice for beginners. Best overall price and performance ratio in my opinion. You can learn a lot with that drone! As it is easy to just start flying and everything just works. Plus now it’s cheap and you can get it used for way cheaper.

Good for surviving gale level 8 winds in rain. Living on a windy ridge that's a must half of the time. Although last flight the drone should of come with a tranquilizers watching the drone flying through wind shear up down and all around with the props screaming handling the 40mph wind with 50' instant deviations.

Thanks for the video.....A couple of questions...What app does this drone use from the Playstore? Is there a setting in the app that allows the ability to transition to VR/FPV Mode? i.e. Use a pair of VR goggles for flight.

Were the photos in DNG when you took them at 12MP? I only seem to get the DNG option when I set it to the 8MP 4K photos setting. Video quality is solid, but like you said the controls on this are a bit funky for sure.

I had the first version of this drone back in 2019. To be honest, it was quite terrible... The live video feed was often disruptive. Sometimes screen froze and a drone restart (not app) only helped. During cold weather below 10 degrees Celsius, footage was very gloomy and out of focus. I got some unlisted videos with these problems on my channel. Let me know, if you're interested in seeing those. Finally, after a terrible year of bad experience I moved to air 2, and that was worth it a thousand times! :D

When viewing your flight footage it's looking choppy to me... Is it me of the Drone or the vid card skipping frames??

this drone needs a really fast sd card, but seems to still drop frames during yaw moves, it was/is worse on 2020 version, as is to horizon issue which is linked to drone orientation... ie film west and say horizon dips to left, yaw 180 film to the east it dips right.....

I’m glad you bought one … I had them all but keeping only Fimi X8 Mini with pro batteries … but again it is completely different story than DJI … controls are bad … the drone is having its own behavior no matter you are trying to fly smoothly and perfectly

Because it’s not the best for continuous interrupted smooth transitions in flight. Even after calibrating all the expos and everything it just can’t compete with DJI. Full review coming soon. Don’t get me wrong, I can get a decent multi axis shot with it, but transitioning into a different shot is almost impossible. The way it controls is not the best. Camera quality is fine and speaker/air drop feature is pretty cool, but the controls… not fan of them.

@@RickyD1968 DJI Mini 2 controls way better than this one and I would take that one over this one any day. The thing is… I don’t care for the smart features. All I care is if the camera is good enough for what I need and if it controls well! I know how to fly so I don’t rely on smart features. And dropping things from a drone is illegal in my country :D so I kinda don’t care about that too. Sure it can be very useful for some. But for me… Drone is a flying camera and if it doesn’t fly that good. It’s no good for me. Camera is fine tho…

I'm sorry but this is a very very bad review. 1. All you did was comparing this drone to DJI, like DJI is the standard drone in the world. 2. You call the controll weird, just because you are fimiliar with the DJI system 3. You obvously dont know anythibg about this drone. This drone has dl many cool functions, that even DJI dont have. You didnt use those smart funtions

Can’t I have my own opinion? It just didn’t seem like a good drone for complex shot capturing manualy. Sure it has bunch of other features that DJI drones don’t have, but I reviewed it from my perspective which is capturing cinematic shots using only the sticks and your skills.
