The huge issue with previous Fimi drones has been the horizon tilt, especially when flipping the camera down 90 and back up 90 degrees. Fimi appears to have fixed that issue in the 2022 version. The video and pictures appear to be a bit over saturated. Fine tuning the EV should help that. Thanks Captain. Always enjoy your reviews.

V2 maybe they've fixed it, v1 I've heard lot's of the same old issue which really isn't by any means all the time, bits occasional really. Usually I've noticed jumping up the gimbal gain to 200% or from 200% back down to about 100% usually straightens it up pretty quick ime anyway, little trick I figured out.

I was just telling someone about the SAR on this drone. I like the drop, if someone needs water and you can't get to them or maybe a radio, and the speaker , you can talk to them to reassure them all is goin to be ok, which is what stranded people need to hear, great drone, great review. Thanks.

My x8 se rests at the bottom of the sea after around 50 flights.I fly quadcopters since 2013, the battery was perfectly maintened ,during the dive was at 80% and no wind. It is very difficult for me to buy another fimi product.

Just purchased the fimi x8 v2 for my wife as a Christmas gift. She said she wanted just a cheap drone to get started something around a $100 but I think anything in that price range is going to be of very poor quality. The fimi well hopefully be a good choice for her to get started and if she uses it a fair amount I'll upgrade her to something much better.

Captain Drone, try "Normalising" your audio files before uploading them to the drone speaker. This will maximise the volume of the audio essentially making the audio as loud as possible.

Finally, here is the review of Fimi X8 SE 2022 V2! Firstly, its design is almost the same but it looks good anyway with that beautiful portable huge body! It does have all the primary important drone features including 10 km range, smart flight features, 35 mins flight time which is satisfactory and most importantly, the nice camera quality which is pretty good as there is no shakiness in the video! The most unbelievable thing in this new version is that, they added a latch system as well as the megaphone which is the coolest feature on a drone I have ever seen!! The sound quality is pretty good too as it comes from the megaphone and the latch system also did a good job picking up Red and throwing it on the land! In my opinion, these features must be there in DJI drones especially on the Pro ones like Mavic 3 or future Phantom 5. They cost around 5 grand and than also lack these cool features which throws a very positive light on FIMI's new drone! I also like the precise RTH function which tries to detect the landing pad. But, telling again that, that megaphone gets me all the time as I am very much impressed with this one, specially! I think Fimi also released a display controller as I saw that on their website... But, this controller is still liked by me as its design and function buttons are pretty unique! Overall, this drone is the 'new drone to own' rather than the original Fimi X8 SE, now! Just, the only missing pro drone feature in this one is the Obstacle Avoidance for sure and some more camera features should be added to make it as worthy as DJI Mavic 3 kind of drone. Anyway, it costs..... less than 600 USD? It must be a typo... How are they even selling a drone with many features and a good camera quality, even at night, at such a low cost??? I mean even DJI Mini 2 (mine) costs 400 dollars more then that. Also, I literally thought that it may cost around 2K dollars before having a look at the price. So, I guess that DJI, Autel or Skydio will start adding latch system or more importantly, megaphones on their future drones! Now, I am already waiting to see DJI Mavic 4 with megaphone, lol! Also excited to have an official look at DJI Avata as it must be a huge upgrade in the FPV Hobby! Now, I can't even describe how eager am I, to have a look at some more Megaphone drones, right now!

It had 50 flights and all of them to 50% of the battery level,no long time flights,the battery was always charged just before the flight.All of theese for nothing. The disapoitment while watching it diving was huge

It's 549 USD on Banggood as of 5/31/22. That's not bad for all it does, but I would not consider it for anything, but a daytime flyer. I saw softness in several of the dusk photos so I think it's unusable for that. The drop feature is pretty cool however, but of limited use for me. Overall, I'd give it a thumbs up.

It's definite force 8 winds and able to handle the turbulence generated around buildings and other structures during those winds. The drone will have screaming props handling the turbulences up down and all around going on.

Hi Great craft. Since I have been flying these things for a while, I now have the se- and ver 2 model. Comparing them to the c fly , we’ll both good in wind but c fly is way to fenced to the hilt and WiFi can be shaky, only issue with the fimi I have is battery bricking due to low voltage and smart charger, can you open bricked batteries and zap them so smart charger can take over charging. The FIMI’s are a good all around drone at ok price. The gale warning is quite informative to let you know it’s windy aloft.

Adding obstacle avoidance raises the price. This is why quality drones with obstacle avoidance are pretty much only in the realm of DJI, Autel & Hubsan if you want something reliable.

DJI Mini 2 is in a different category of under 250g (to deal with FCC compliancy). Of course it would be a better value, but you won't be able to fly it near the places where drones above 250g are prohibited. Also it's doubly a better value when you do some mods to decrease the weight as much as possible (which you can certainly do with this drone, at least shave off some 50g) and put a second Li-Po HV battery like some 4500mAh battery that weighs under 250g. With the weight reduction mods and the second battery mod, you will probably be able to pilot it for up to an hour. The more weight you reduce, the better, as you don't want the motors to run very fast due to the diminishing returns on power consumption when you overload the drone.

There are currently many glitches with the intelligent flight modes when using an Android device, but these modes seem to work properly with an iPhone. Auto WB is ok, but Fluorescent seems to be the best default setting, oddly enough, since both the Sunny and Cloudy presets have a very noticeable yellow/green cast. I use Fluorescent, Auto ISO and EV set to -1.0 most of the time.

Playing around with the dropper device, it seems you can lift about 300g before you get the "motors overloaded" alert, with Fimi giving a 250g limit. I think I got up to about 400g, and the motor warning message was more or less constant. The drop line is off centre and towards the rear of the drone, however, so I may experiment with adding a diverter eye centred under the 4 props, perhaps epoxied onto the bottom plate between the LED's and the optic flow camera. That might shift some load towards the front and off the right rear motor, possibly increasing the alert threshold.

Thanks for the review Cap. I noticed a slight lag during the longer flight. It was only like a nano second, but it was noticeable during the entire flight. Thought it was just me until I read the same catch from Rob Johnson's comment. Adding the speaker and the release and drop function I feel it useless. Maybe just use it once for fun! If I do ever need to be rescued. Please don't send this drone. LOL.

The ‘lag’ is a KZbin thing. Very common with uploads from DJI drone vids that have been run through an editor. It is fixed on KZbin by editing in 24 or 60 FPS. My vids are all 30 FPS which shows on KZbin.

Its good for SAR, if you need to get a radio or maybe some water to someone fast, the drop will save a life. And with the speaker, you can tall someone help is on the way and assure them all is ok.

I like the controller as it can accommodate an iPad mini or similar. Loads of features and the night mode wasn't too bad either. What would make it a killer would be some obstacle detection or even better avoidance.

Fimi X8 SE 2022 is one of recomended drone with afordable price..making great cinematik video. but the sensor is not good enough..overall review is good. I dont know there is release V2 😩..there are additional features with loudspeaker

The latch system is great if you have a crashed drone. You can then lift it and crash it again!

Hi Steve, great review of the Fimi X8 SE 2022 V2! I believe that one needs a ROUND landing pad for the precision landing to work properly.

I agree on the quality issues. I bought the 2018 model. I was very ill in 2019 and so I only had the drone out a few times to fly. It was an enjoyable experience but then the drone was stored in the house while I recovered. In 2021, I tried to check the drone out. I recharged the batteries and every battery (3) I placed in the drone produced errors after startup indicating "Battery Error, please restart the drone" and "Battery temperature is too low. Please preheat to above 15C". It was winter so I gave up and stored the drone again. Fast forward to summer 2022 and I take the drone out and try again. Same error but it is summer and at that time 70 - 80 degrees (21.11 to 26.67C). Googled for solutions but really didn't find anything so contacted FIMI support. After a very long go around of sending error messages and screen shots they came back and said it is no longer under warranty. I asked if they could tell by the errors if it indicated defective batteries or a defective drone. They said they could not. If it was a defective battery I would just purchase new ones and move on. Not knowing, I am reluctant to buy batteries to find out it is the drone. And not certainly going to buy the drone to find out it was the batteries. Very disappointing as this was my first foray into drones.

My guess, from what you wrote, it is the batteries. Batteries must be stored at storage voltage and certainly not charged and stored or depleted and stored.

Just my luck, I guess. Bought one from Amazon. App installed, all batteries fully charged. Turned on everything & connected. After a few seconds, transmitter turned itself off. Re-ran process 3 times after which it wouldn't even power-up at all. Returned it to Amazon. From those with experience with Fimi: Worth another try or look for similar drone of different brand?

Sounds like one of two things may have occurred: - battery in transmitter never received a charge. Insufficient power supply or connection not made in correct port. - transmitter start up of pressing power button short, then long did not occur

up/down irregularity might be just over grass..it may be so sensitive it is picking up different heights of grass blades or diff between grass and ground
