I remember going to the then 'Balmoral Hotel' on Balmoral Road ( later The Argosy ') back in 1971 with my mum, dad and bro. Our window overlooked the pleasure beach and you could see the Grand National (?) going round. Sadly gone now. Blackpool is disappearing.

That was epic, Caroline. I came over to Blackpool on Monday but nothing much happened while I was there. I was also disappointed not to see any KZbinrs around. I follow several of you and feel I know you all like people off the telly. My confidence took a tumble when I thought I recognised AT Media and approached an innocent guy who wasn't! Curiously AT Media had been there filming from St Chad's Road while I was filming from the Prom because he filmed the same bits although I didn't see him. My footage isn't worth the megabytes it uses! The camera hadn't focused properly and the wind noise is awful

Very interesting videos and really enjoyed watching 😊 I came here from Jane(?) @ Visiting Fylde Coast... I have suddenly become fascinated by this area of coastline which is quite close to me but never visited, yet I've lived in Cheshire for most of my life! The seafront architecture does look a bit jaded and run-down now but I hope they will replace these old buildings with 'humane' and attractive new structures, not buildings that have an awful corporate lack of soul and character.

With all the coverage of these two recent demolitions I’m sure future investors will see the opportunities for 21st century accommodation in Blackpool The new establishments that come out of these sites will be amazing for the future ongoing regeneration of the Golden Mile There must be at lest 20 of these sites that need this treatment right now

Was it demolished because it was unsafe? It seemed to fall apart so easy.

No it was demolished cos it was old and unable to be converted it the 5 star hotel that will eventually replace it. Old buildings like this are full of corridors etc so dont make spacious easily accessible modern hotels.

Just another case of "Take the money and run". Why waste money on renovations when you can knock it down, sell the land and let someone else build another eyesore to replace it. The whole of the country is falling into decay and becoming a holiday home for rats.
@carmelpule8493 Жыл бұрын
What is that figure of a heart shape, rotated about a central vertical axis and attached to the side of the pole at 1.26? Seeing the Blackpool tower at the background, reminds me of the man who went back to the shop and told the salesman that he went ballroom dancing up on the Blackpool tower. The salesman said, " But there is no ballroom up the Blackpool tower!" The man who was returning the previously bought trousers said," The same with these pair of trousers!" That water spray at 14:9 is a joke-------- the hose should be attached to the top of the engineering monster and spraying down one at a rate of one cubic meter per minute. I am an engineer, and I regret to say that engineering has polluted the Earth in less than 100 years since the Chad was built, producing 25% pollution due to aircraft flying, 25% due to shipping goods to our homes, 25% due to Electric power stations and industrial production,.25% due to wars and domestic waste and other pollution including cars and detergents in the kitchen sink, refuse disposal, plastics. Engineers like me should have spent their life designing and making prosthetic aids and diagnostic and life saving equipment for hospitals , and not for construction contractors and military forces. All engineering devices are in fact prosthetic aids for people born with a congenital disorder, as they cannot do what they do with engineering if they stay naked, including the charming lady commentator on this video who is proud to just own a video camera, and cannot stop talking into it! The world is also so polluted with the sound of humans who earn a living talking and never producing anything that is guaranteed, as Politicians, Regions, Newscasters, Lawyers, Techers, Magistrates and Judges and Police and the Miltary, Artists and all the social emotional and sentimental professions including entertainers, and the public love them for just creating emotions and sentiments without ever guarantying anything, not even a service let alone a tangible product. Politicians still get paid if they fail, Religions people still get paid even if their philosophies and promises cannot be guaranteed, Lawyers still get paid if they lose a case, Doctors, surgeons and medical consultants still get paid if they lose the patient dies or has a double amputation without replacement, and so teachers and lecturers at university still get paid if half of the class fails. Engineers do not have such benefits, but they do have the benefit that while they pollute the earth, all the other professions do rely on ENGINEERING. PRODUCTS for their comforts in and out of their homes. Other professions cannot do much and they all need to wrap themselves with some prosthetic aid which involves engineering including shoes, and underwear and fork and knife and all transport vehicles and all the tangible comforts they have in and out of their homes,, Even religions believe in guaranteed engineering products rather than their own prayers, miracles and indulgences.
