I as taught to let the drag sing ( more line in the water would tire fish faster ) or slightly tighten the drag. But no matter what, NEVER attempt to reel in while the fish is taking out line. This was said to twist and tangle the line. Is what i was taught now out of date, or what has changed ? Are reel drags now designed differently ? Is pumping the crank while the drag works okay ? Yesterday my safe hade a win I went fishing cod fishing it is not the best at the moment got. got 2 or 3 bits it just got dark about to go home. Then at 7pm my rod bent over and line taking off the reel I got my new PB Murray cod 77.52lb cod!! please have a look at it on Instagram (codfishing180) that's my Instagram page. I'm so happy still!! now on a drop shot rig 20lb mono down to a 15lb fluoro leader all kastking line and the reel the whitmax from kastking. On 4to6kg evens rod it was a monster. good not believe it please have a look at it.
