I have also noticed a lot of reactors that started out hating scary movies find a deep appreciation for them because the process of being a reactor forces them to focus more on the storylines (so that they can commentate) rather than the act of being scared.

I actually saw this in the movie theatre with my then-girlfriend. She had a crush on Devon Sawa, the main actor and was a big horror movie fan. Horror movies around this time were pretty much the same. You weren't sure if they wanted to be funny or scary. So in between the awkward jokes, you had jump scares. I'm more of an old-school suspense guy. I can do without jump scares that don't serve the plot. But it's an interesting idea, as horror movies go. It's similar to a lot of the films of the time, like Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer and Urban Legend. I can't say they're my favourites, but there's a part of me that finds movies like Jeepers Creepers a guilty pleasure, even though I know it's not great and the director should probably be in prison.

(I also know that you like to have a sweet treat to help you make it through any time you _do_ watch a horror film!) The original first draft was the spec-script for an eerie X-Files episode, which is how we got the two FBI agents snooping around. Fox turned down the story as too violent, which meant the sequels were free to throw out story narrative, and give the kids the geek-death scenes they wanted.

They based the initial air disaster on a real one, TWA flight 800, in which there was an actual high school French class on a trip to France when the plane blew apart in 1996. The details are much more terrifying than the scene in the movie, so I don't recommend looking them up. As to the movie itself, best way to appreciate FD movies is if you see them not as horror, but as "situational action." The characters are competing with Death, like it's a sport.

I don't "enjoy" it either. But I love Kristen Cloke, who played Ms. Lewton, and her husband Glen Morgan, and his partner James Wong who made it. They're also responsible for some of the very best X Files and Millennium episodes. And they made the magnificent little sci-fi show called Space: Above & Beyond, and produced a culty ghost show called The Others, who's star was a baby Julianne Nicholson. So these reactions are fun for me. Personally, I shut the movie off just before Ms. Lewton bites it. But I had to watch your whole reaction because you're awesome. And now I wanna find some chocolate rice cakes.

Love this film, very unique concept. Many who see this then see the original The Omen, feel that the makers of this film were inspired by that series. The point of this film is not that he is superstitious, but that he sees all the signs of a disaster, but doesn't realize it, but it puts him on alert, so the has the premonition. The idea that Death telegraphs it's intentions, but most people don't pay attention to it. The tern Destination comes from Destiny, or the end of one's path, or in this case life. The sequel is better, but the third film, is not as good way too much CGI gore, tgat is not convincing just laughably bad. The very last one 5 or 6 is actually as good as the first, but the rest can be skipped.
