Final Fantasy 14 Streamer Tries World of Warcraft For the First Time

Final Fantasy XIV Streamer plays World of Warcraft for the very first time after wanting to play the game for 19 years. In this video I give my first impressions on World of Warcraft after playing it for only around 10 hours. Modern WoW might give you an experience more in line with what you would expect now a days. The UI can be tweaked and moved around, the quest have alot more style and flare to them now, your map will actually help you find where you need to go, the playable classes and specs are alot more thoght out and have a decent level of asymmetric ballance, and traversal is a lot more snappy and respectful of your time. Regardless of all that though it's awesome you gave WoW a try in any form, and I hope you have a bunch of fun with your friend!

If you have the desire each class has some quests built around them which can be really thematic and reward some great weapons or even some new abilities, so usually it's good to keep an eye out for them. 👍 Also for the proper 2004 experience remember to grab some local Pizza and a case of mountain dew! We are going on a 36 hour binge! 😁🤘

I did prefer "pick class stay class" in old MMO's (like EQ) but the longer a game goes on, and you sink time into doing deep long quest serieses, faction, or item grinds, you start to wish you had just been the other class...,kind of buyers remorse. So i've grown to really prefer the FF14 class changing model. Once you factor in the tremendous girth of the FF14 MSQ and storylines and unlocks, it's doubly valuable (in that environment). There was a ton of value in being an expert at a class and having to earn it in old EQ1, but in modern mmo's, you're cast into the group as a DPS/TANK/HEALER and the divergence of class is a lot less meaningful than which one of those things you are

@@genjigearlive Better yet, LOVING a class/spec only to get to endgame and find out that it is not viable for raids in the eye of the community so nobody takes you :)

Man it feels so good to hear somebody say that FFXIV isnt as good as some of the old greats such as FFIX. I love the game but the story structure and game design just doesnt live up to the more focused single player entries.

Retail has way more QoL than Classic, so yes the feeling is quite different. As far you play with friends any game is OK

As a full-blown WoW Altoholic, I did all those quests a whole lot of times - I had almost a full set of classes on both factions scattered across a variety of realms. It was fun right up until it wasn't. My poor Blood Elf Paladin I started on Classic last year is languishing at Level 75 because I haven't touched her since November. Eventually I'll resub to finish leveling her and maybe try out Dragonflight (or the next expansion).

Yeah man, they are fun when you are learning your class or if you are with someone else, or if you got a streamer or a KZbin video going in the background, but overall questing is a super grind, but FFXIV is a grind in its own way. Some people rather kill trash mobs than read 7 paragraphs of “world building”. They both have flaws, but they are still both very good games who appeal to slightly different audiences with a good bit of crossover.

When you play the modern WoW you see you have to go and the UI is different and more like final fantacy then in WoW Classic. I suggest trying it out modern WoW

I despise leveling in wow or at least classic wow. Ff14 was a drog through a realm reborn. But i definetely took my time with ff14 more to exprience the content at level. Trails, raids, opting to do min item level runs instead of fully geared so i can have the same challenges. And i agree that msq can be boring during the level exprience where the cutscenes dungeons trails and raids are the highlight they also had scaling difficulty if you want it i would instantly go unlock all extreme content after doing the base fight and those fights were some of the funniest i've had. The thing is ff14 is very much about optional content including hard content. Such as the added trial quests like the extra trails in heavensword and beyond the non mandatory raids etc. And you have to seek it out if you want it. The story was good but it became excellent in shadowbringers and beyond they change how msq kind of works more interesting quests less fetch quests. This is largely because it had a new writer, the same writer who wrote the dark knight class story that has been now considered beloved. ff14 can feel lonely at times when leveling. I stuck through it all. And being in a guild where im super social, go to house parties to see what its like.do hard content in pugs as well as with guildies. Now i have been off and on with wow. And recently got back into it because of dragon flight. And only now have really started enjoying wow. I really enjoyed leveling through dragon flight and randomly have been going back doing legacy content and loved getting lost by myself going through kharazan and return to khrazan and have been enjoying timewalking dungeons and raids. To expreince how it was back on release. In conclusion i love both for very different reasons. Where i find ff14 content harder because your encouraged to not use add ons that tell you every aspect of the fight unlike wow where its necassary to have all these add ons. They have do many differences that each is fundemantley in seperate catagories with the mmo genre. Ff14 being an rpgmmo meaning its an rpg and ff game first before its an mmo. Where as wow you can level side by side with friends and make your own adventures along the way of the campaign.

Leveling in retail is far better than Classic since you can choose your expansion via Chromie Time. The later expansions such as Warlords and Legion just had a better quest experience because they were more interactive.

Welcome to "The Grind"... that's the only way I can put it. After playing Wow for almost 17 years after it came out in 2004, I can safely say that WoW ground the grind out of me!!! I'm glad your checking it out, just be warned... EVERYTHING in WoW is a Grind. The only metric that Blizzard cares about is how much time you are in the game, hence they have terrible QOL systems. I don't actively pay for a subscription anymore, so my 12 max level Alliance characters and my 12 max level Horde characters are just collecting dust, but I keep them alive for the "Just in case" moment if I ever feel nostalgic and wanna go visit them paying for just 1 month of sub. At least you are playing on Classic WoW from what I can tell from your video, so you should enjoy it a bit more, but man, Retail WoW is a shit-show!

Yeah I am just kind of re living an alternate childhood of being able to play it with my friends because I always really wanted to, but yeah I am very much expecting to get burnt out at some point. I’ll enjoy it while I can!

Retail WoW has more quality of life than ever in the leveling aspect. The whole game is stuffed with more quality of life than most people even want. The game really hasn’t been all that grindy since Legion.

@@brandonkruse6412 yeah, maybe you're right. Maybe I completely forgot the whole BFA experience, and then the shadowlands experience. You're right the game got so much less grinding with azerite stuff the necklace all the trades the void crap yeah and then shadowlands with covenants and Renown and all the little s*** that you had to do your right it less grindy!! ROFL... you should get a job in gov't with that propaganda you just tried to sell. Dragonflight removed many grinds from the game, but if you are trying to sell that shit for ANY Expac before that... you're insane!

@@WoWRefugee I don’t even play retail anymore, so I really don’t have much of an opinion about Retail these days but given that “borrowed power” systems from Legion, BFA and Shadowlands don’t exist in the game anymore, past expansions aren’t relevant to current retail. If a new player wants to get into WoW for the first time, Dragonflight is a version of retail that’s more casual friendly than past expacs

Quests in FFXIV are… typically kind of bland or even boring. But quests in WoW are mind numbing. At least there’s typically lore or story reasons (world building is actually quite good) you have to go “fetch 3 rabbit hides”, so you go kill 3 rabbits and quest over. But in WoW it’s more “Champion! My sister is coming to town and her husband is awful! I need 30 carrots! The kobolds have them!” And you’re like, sure farmer Bobbert. I’ll just go genocide 400 kobolds to get your 30 carrots. BRB lolz nub.

Side quests, I mean. XD Some MSQ quests are “Talk to 3 people to get no useful information then talk to a 4th to progress”, but even these tend to be more interesting then “Champion! I need this letter delivered to the stable master!” Stable master is literally in line of sight… 😑

Lol yeah totally, I can see the difference in quality. I feel like the FFXIV quests in comparison to other FF’s are a little lacking though but I can see how they are a step up for an MMO.

I played WoW since its beginning: I switched to FFXIV and had to learn to read quest text. I then went into Dragonflight and read the quest texts thoroughly - then I gave up on it. The quests in WoW are utterly garbage and not worth reading. Just read the objectives and that's it.
