For me, its very encouraging that most of the cons seem to be on the technical end. Those things absolutely matter and should be addressed. However those things rarely take away from my enjoyment of a game. The pros list the story, combat, world and gameplay? Hell yeah. Those are literally the most important things, to me at least

I agree, its just surprising about the visual set backs. FF16 had the same visual issues at launch, figired that'd of been addressed for rebirths launch. I had to play 16 in graphics mode, blurr in performance just bothered me. Probably play rebirth the same

I don't see people shitting on this game besides the typical "I don't like remakes" crowd which has no real argument besides "original is better/I like turn based" which is quite irrelevant to the quality FF 7 Rebirth. Almost all reviews have been great for this game as it sits at like 93/100 on Metacritic with over 100 reviews. Square even lets reviews come out a week before release which is a sign of confidence on their end.

This game is absolutely horrendous, just from the demo the combat is the worst I have ever seen in a game, enemies are all broken and have super armor, while the player character can be stunlocked by every single attack, enemies will CONSTANTLY do off screen attacks and nothing is telegraphed right. This game has EVERYTHING I despise in action games. The original is 10000000x better than this slop. Its like square enix doubled down on everything that make the combat garbage in the first part. Whoever made this game should be ashamed.

It has multiple characters with a lot of abilities, synergy special and synergy normal attack from block, theres summon abilities, bunch of different materia/magic, calling it button mashy is wild to me. You can parry, attack from dodge I just don't see the problem. Maybe it feels bad if you're not utilizing everything just mash square, but that wont get you far, and wont feel good either. But hey I guese theres nothing everyone likes. Theres classic combat controls, I never used it, I dont know how it works, but maybe some people would like that better.

I'm thinking about getting this game but I haven't made my mind up yet because when I play Final Fantasy 7 Remake a couple years ago I felt that it was extremely mediocre even though everyone had heaped praises on it. I bought Final Fantasy 16 when it released last year and I still haven't beaten it yet because I found it mediocre at best. I love Japanese RPGs but for some reason I just found Final Fantasy 15, Final Fantasy 16, and Final Fantasy 7 remake to be mediocre games. When it comes to Japanese RPGs I like games like Dragon Quest 11, Yakuza Like a Dragon, Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, Octopath Traveler 2, etc.

Overall, it is a great game and up to chapter 8, I would call it a 10/10. Sadly, at least for me, the combat got boring by the 40th hour and I played it for another 40 after that. The quality of the game stays prestige and I liked the story, but the open world, mini games and combat became too tedious which soured my experience and I ended preferí g remake over rebirth by the end.

I know it's a standard jrpg thing, but I really don't like how they just dump every system on you at the same time after finishing chapter one. Materia upgrades, party changes, Queen's Blood, weapon upgrades, folios, etc. All within the span of like 20 mins. It's kind of overwhelming. I also think the exploration is really jittery. Like Cloud magnetizes to surfaces and there aren't good animation transitions so running around the open world feels awkward and inconsistent. But I'm having enough fun (and I loved the first one enough) to keep playing and hope it gets better. I'm glad this game actually has a personality, unlike FF XVI.

@@EpicConspiracy wow, performance mode makes graphical cutbacks. And if you’re seriously enough of a drama queen to hate 30fps then idk what to tell you. At 30fps Nibelheim and Junon looked like the very best the PS5 has to offer graphically alongside Jedi Survivor and the last of us part 1. I don’t care about the FPS loss if the game im playing is shockingly beautiful. But saying that quality mode looks worse than remake is insane. Also, intermission still has a ton of muddy textures everywhere. Even in 30fps mode. Just look at Aerith’s slums. It’s AWFUL there. This series has blatantly always struggled with presentation, but one things for certain. 30fps in Junon and Nibelheim is stunning.

This should be an 8/10 game max. While it's an amazing game the performance issues hold it back. We should rate games not only based on quality but on performance too. The performance mode in this game is trash. And then you see the performance mode on games like God of War Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West which looks stunning and you appreciate what good optimization does to your games.
