When I see videos of seniors with dementia singing tunes in languages from their childhoods. I can't help imagine that Final Fantasy, Zelda, etc will come back to me in my 80s It's rare that a franchise's music creates such lasting memories. The amount of talent Square-Enix packed into a 16 bit platform is absurd. They brought Japanese creative culture into a generation of young minds. Borrowing mythological references from cultures throughout history, to build the fantasy world. This collection you've made is a huge accomplishment!

@@iacoposbrolli2393 To be honest, I've always wondered about that. Indeed, dementia is terrible for the loved ones, but what about the one with dementia? I know that at some point they become aware of their decline and that coming to terms with that is terrible, but once they've lost all memories, I've always wondered whether that's torture or not. I'm probably very naive, but I always thought not being aware of dying is a blessing in disguise. I'd certainly prefer it to having cancer and knowing I only have a few weeks to live. Am I being too naive?

It truly is remarkable how the Japanese developers took these influences from western (and other parts of the world) classical music, literary works, movies, paintings, folk tales, historic lore and so forth and let them blend with their own culture to create this synergy and perfect symbiosis of art that just slays you emotionally

You... you arranged it so you placed the pieces roughly in the order you'd encounter them in an actual playthrough of the game! Like... setting aside the brilliance of the performance itself and the amazing skill and dedication to actually play all this, you also arrange it in a way that you'd naturally encounter it as you play through the game. Even to the point of spotting that in this theoretical playthrough, when the party splits, you follow Sabin first, then Locke, then Terra, before everyone gets back together. It's just... my mind is completely blown away by your dedication to this rendition. You know, there was an official piano arrangement of like a dozen pieces? Yours is definitively better, plus it contains virtually every song in the entire game. I stand in awe of your skill and dedication.

I can't put into words how amazing and wonderful this is, but what I can do is say that you have "Searching for Friends" in the proper order. The official soundtrack (even the old Doremi sheet music book) puts "Searching" before "Epitaph", but in the game, "Searching" adds an uplifting feeling to the bittersweet "Epitaph" of Setzer's past, and the game itself gets its first glimmer of hope when the ship rises from the sea with this song ushering it along. It's such a natural progression from "Epitaph" to "Searching for Friends", yet they always put it out of order. I probably sound more daft than Kefka, but thank you :) You did such a beautiful thing here! *EDIT* Also on Spotify, I can play them back to back for the perfect transition from "Epitaph" into "Searching for Friends" :D

Only part way through and already on the edge of tears (I'll hear the whole thing in time). This is the soundtrack of my early childhood. As a pianist I absolutely adore the arrangements and especially your performance of them. Also so cool to hear piano arrangements of the less-covered songs. Bravo x1000 and thank you!!! 😅😭

Kara, if you have a moment to answer - for this video, were you reading from “Final Fantasy VI Original Sound Version Piano Solo Sheet Music”? I’m hoping yes because I love these arrangements, and I’m thinking of investing in a copy! All the best 🙏

Imagine if you played the game without sound, but she was there playing the music live while you played.

Surprisingly great music for a video game -- these people cared, and clearly so do you.
