This game made such a impact on my life. I would have never played music if it was not for this game entering my life. I still remember being 8 years old, and being given this game by my grandfather (FFIII on the SNES). It was scaring me because of the moogle holding a dagger on the cover but I still wanted to try it. It was a preplayed copy, so when I turned on the SNES, there were games that were already present. I loaded one, in the world of ruin, and "Searchin for Friends" started playing. I still remember that feeling that got me when I took the Falcon to fly with that song in the background. 4 Years later, I would learn all these songs ;p. Sorry about that bit of life story, I felt like I needed to share that with other people who loved that game as much as I did.

I have a story too. I was about 5 or 6, and my older sister contracted lice from a friend. I remember my mom washing every item of clothing and every sheet, and for the first time in the game I was about to face Atma Weapon. So imagine the song, "Floating Continent" which to this day is still hilarious to think about, given the memory and context. Here, Kefka is about to rip the world asunder, and all my mom can think about is lice and shampoo. Lol. But seriously, Uematsu did the same for me. I'm not much, something of an amateur. I wouldn't have pursued music but for his compositions. Love the man. And you too, sorry for the two years late and way too long comment. Thanks for sharing your experience. If you haven't, check out Patti Rudisill and Erutan. They are amazing. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nn7Zi6KZYqyqnpo, kzbin.info/www/bejne/p57FmHZ4j51psJY

That's pretty cool... seeing the game for the first time in the world of ruin at 8 years old. How long did you play that before realizing you had to create a fresh new game?
@ishakenjy83444 жыл бұрын
@@MichaelButlerC Not long. But I was really confused when I did made a new game. I was used to the open world of the end game content. I did not speak english back then and I was extremely confused (and frustrated as I did not understand how to beat the first boss in the mines of Narshe). Eventually, I made it to the first time you leave narshe and, again, I was taken away by the music (terra's theme).

I heard final fantasy V is extremely good but I've never put aside the time to play it. Same goes w/ final fantasy VII and onwards, I keep playing like 3-4 hours in and just lose interest because I remember how good final fantasy VI was and I feel sad that the series changed so quick like that. I'm a minority here, I know, but the change in art and story from VI to VII just upsets me so much I can't even play FFVII, but one day I will, hopefully. (it's kind of draining too since you already know what the final boss looks like lol)

If some say that people love FF6 the most due to nostalgia, I played it on the GBA in my early 20's and I immediately fell in love with it, and now I consider it the best FF and possibly best JRPG of all time. It's just a really good game.

Same here, I played it in my early 20's on the PSX port. I learned to read by playing FF7 (really!), but 6 is a stronger game in just about every way (music excepted, FF7 is the greatest video game score ever). Two of the GOATs, as far as I'm concerned.
@BoydTheMilkmanX6 жыл бұрын
Best RPG of all time? loooooooooooooooool. FF6 is really good, and it's influence was obviously one of the factors that kept JRPGs coming to western markets during a huge lapse in the games. IN terms of the quality of the writing and the themes challenged in the story, it was a very bizarre game for its time. It was astounding in 1994 --- in 1995 you had Chronotrigger which is another amazing RPG. Both easily in the top 10 most influential and easily the best of their era/ Best of all time, no, not by a long shot.

In January, 2015, I had this lifetime opportunity to attend a performance from the Distant Worlds Tour Orchestra. It was in New Jersey, USA, and for me it was a big deal; every single South American knows that this type of shows are almost impossible to happen down here. Anyways, I was there, the curtains were opened, and Nobuo Uematsu was in the first row. I was like 10 rows behind, and the ticket was a salty USD 120. Whatever, what is the price for the best night of your entire life as a gamer? Then, Nobuo was invited to the stage, then started playing on the piano Dark World, from FF6. I am typing this now and crying almost the same I cried that day, and I didn't have to feel ashamed at all. Even though I was probably most emotional than most of the audience because of this single tune and my endless affection towards FF6, I knew that everybody else had their own favorite FF tune to cry on. Thanks, Mr. Uematsu, for making this world a little bit softer, more livable. I believe that a part of the man I am today is thanks to these feelings I have felt my entire life playing Final Fantasy.

I believe that I had 9 Atma Weapons, as well as multiple Gengi Gloves and Offerings! I leveled my characters all to at least 75, in the desert, where the Cactaurs were! I wrecked through just about everything at that point! We have FF6 on our SNES Mini. I need to play through it again. I also put a lot of hours in FF12, and had a lot of fun doing so!

The best thing about this game is that the older you get and the more life experience you attain, the game takes on even more meaning, the emotions hit harder, and put that with nostalgia……Magic! Pure magic. And just when you think you’ve seen it all, sometimes you missed something. I never knew Celes could actually save Cid until so much later. Things like that. I’m going to find my game, or maybe I’ll finally try the iOS version, I just love my controllers I’m old school. ❤ I think if they did a VII-style over-remake I wouldn’t play it. It’s absolutely unnecessary. This game is perfect all on its own. Yes Treasure of the Rudras was the last snes RPG by square (went unreleased but there’s well done translations available), but this imho is the last great full RPG for that wonderful system that gave me so much joy.

To me, I have a bigger attachment to the ffvi than all the other ones. Terra being a favorite of all the franchise characters, I often felt that her character hits home to me. Her heritage and her sense of belonging, the fact that she had a detachment to all sides of the world made her more or less tragic in a sense. I love how even in the end, she didn't come to end up with anyone. Not because I don't want her in a ship, but because she was the first of the few characters who somehow found herself and found confidence in herself and not be emotionally dependent on someone else. I know this is an unpopular opinion. But of all the melancholic characters, Terra's to me felt more assuring compared to Cloud's melancholy or even for the likes of other tragic characters that I've played in other ff games (played iv, v, vi, vii and seen the gameplay of x, xii and xv)
@2010MrIsaac7 жыл бұрын
TheSingingBUn Not an unpopular opinion at all! You'd be surprised with the VAST number of people - more specifically older gamers - who prefer Terra over Cloud and 6 over 7. 6 is more realistic and elegantly down to earth, and I believe that's why.

Why don't they make video games like this anymore? It has a great complex story and an extremely sophisticated musical score that actually makes you feel it. It was challenging and you actually had to figure things out not like in new games with tutorials and marks babying you all the way through. Video games are so easy and predictable these days I cant get hooked on them like I did on this one.

Interactive Stories sprites don't exist in modern games anymore so the kind of storytelling in this game can't be fully replicated, which is why remakes can't just be an update, they have to change it
@BoydTheMilkmanX7 жыл бұрын
Only idiots say things like this. There are plenty of genuinely challenging games out there. Are they the most popular titles? No. The games of the past had abysmal quality control - Final Fantasy 6 was unique in that it restored the JRPG's popularity to Western Audiences, because previous installments were precisely that: the conveyance was so shit you had no idea what to do, or where to go, and you were often left speaking to every NPC in every town, until you had exhausted your options. The games of today are hard because they're well thought-out. Difficult games in the past were usually due to limitations of the technology at the time, and the fact no one had any real idea what they were doing. Anyone who says "why don't they make video games like this anymore?" clearly hasn't dug much into the medium.
@Love1isall Жыл бұрын
@@KupoKaachan yeah but I was referring to videogames in general. The only enjoyable games in modern times were well made difficult ones like the souls games, that actually posed a challenge and didn't lead you by the hand.

So this rendition of 'Dark World' has me coming back again, and again. I have NEVER heard a version of this song that so perfectly captures the atmosphere of the story that's happening when the player first hears this song. The gentle rolling ambience in the beginning really cranks up the despair and then the subtle bell hits in the background are like the reminder that there are still people alive, and trying to survive, but the indistinct nature of the ring (nearly covered over with the main melody) again highlights the loneliness. I can hear the bell, I know there are other people, but I just can't find them. Just a masterpiece of a rendition of the song. So well done.

Always wonderful to listen to this! There's nothing quite like a TPR album - capturing the tragedy and heartache of the story, but not forgetting the glimpses of hope that find a way to shine through.

I'm listening to this while I work on my Final Fantasy VI Webcomic :D thank you for the touching musics!

I have... Few words. Expressing what I feel with them doesn't feel like they're enough. FF6 defined me. Defined my tastes, my art, my love of music, my love of stories, my love of tragic, yet hopeful outcomes. I have clinical depression - very likely more things that plague me, and feeling out my emotions is incredibly difficult. But music... music is the medium that brings them out, and helps me explore them. Thank you, for these. Words are not enough to describe how your covers of the game that affected me the most have helped me understand, and push through my sorrows.

Cyan's theme always gets me. Cyan Garamonde, faithful retainer to his family's liege, with the courage and strength of a hundred men...who finds that his greatest challenge is not in front of his sword but within his own soul as he must forgive himself for the deaths of his King, his family and his country. A noble samurai with no leader who comes to find beauty in the world and an appreciation for machines and things other than war. This entire soundtrack's leitmotifs are as instantly recognizable and release as much emotion as any famous classical piece. This is the OST of my entire childhood.

You actually made Kefka's theme likeable. Not just acceptable but LIKE-able.

4 years later, I'm *still* playing this for my students while they work. :) My colleagues have often asked me what is the wonderful music playing in my classroom. So, I shared the link with them. Now, I can walk down the halls of my school and often hear this, as well as other TPR albums, playing. It's wonderful. :)

I think this is my favourite FF album that you've put together so far. Might have a lot to do with the base work as well, but I often come back here to listen to your arrangements while I do stuff on my PC. Loving them.

This is actually very good. I have heard many different renditions for the soundtrack or Final Fantasy 6, but I couldn't find any interesting enough to hold onto. This is something I can listen to for days. Great work!

You did it. You properly orchestrated the score in such a way that maintains the feel of the original SNES rendition. The vast majority of orchestral versions, even official ones, don't get the tempo and rhythm right and change the whole thing. You did it. Bravo, and thank you.

I play your renditions a lot. Every single person who has ever heard them always asks me what music I’m playing because it’s so beautiful. They end up pretty surprised when I tell them it’s instrumental video game music. Every track is stunning. You have a breathtaking talent… I wish you had higher recognition, it’s everything you deserve.
