Detailed description: 0:00 - Game Load 0:10 - Temple of the Ancients - Harmony Room Aerith and company resume in the newly restored Harmony Room on the Hall of Life - First Tier level of the temple. The main scenario "The Hunt Begins Anew" is in progress. The party finds a Moogle Medal in a crate in the northeast. As the party starts through the hallway to the north, they hear some dialogue from the door at the far side (1:02). The party takes the door north. 1:28 - Temple of the Ancients - Shrine of Vagrancy As the party enters the Shrine of Vagrancy, a cutscene with Elena and Tseng takes place. After the scene, it is boss time against Elena and Tseng (2:34). Elena is much the same as before and weak to lightning. Tseng is weak to ice-elemental damage. He uses a lot of martial arts abilities. Blocking or evading his combo finishers will pressure him for a short while. When he has recovered, he will begin to charge up for a powerful technique. Inflicting enough damage while he is charging will pressure him. A cutscene takes place partway through the battle (5:35). Afterwards, Elena and Tseng will start using synergy skills. The party defeats Elena and Tseng (10:04). The party earns 50 party EXP. A cutscene takes place after the Turks' defeat. Smashing. Fight this, Cloud. "The Hunt Begins Anew" complete. 12:23 - Temple of the Ancients - Path of Temptation After the event, the party gains control in the Path of Temptation north of the Shrine of Vagrancy. The main scenario "In His Footsteps" begins. The party has reunited, and the player can select party formations again. Cloud takes the Fire and Ice Materia and Elemental Materia from Red XIII and links them on his armor. The party returns south to the Shrine of Vagrancy. 13:38 - Temple of the Ancients - Shrine of Vagrancy The party checks around the Shrine of Vagrancy for anything they may have missed. Cloud takes Yuffie's Magnify Materia and links it to his Healing Materia. The party returns north to the Path of Temptation. 15:12 - Temple of the Ancients - Path of Temptation There is a handy rest spot here. At the Vending Machine, the party buys 2 on-sale Mega-Potions for 200 gil apiece. They rest at the rest bench. The party follows the path north, west, and north. After saving, they examine the upside down pyramid on the pedestal (17:35). The lift takes the party down to the next section of the temple. "In His Footsteps" complete. 17:43 - Temple of the Ancients - Path of Recovery The main scenario "Hall of Resurrection" begins. The party arrives in the Path of Recovery area on the Hall of Resurrection - Second Tier level of the temple. Cloud takes his Assess Materia from Yuffie. Yuffie takes Tifa's Auto-Cast Materia and links it to her Healing Materia. The party goes north and takes the door to the Serenity Room. 18:55 - Temple of the Ancients - Serenity Room A cutscene with Tseng takes place. Oh, dear. After the event, we gain control of Aerith in the Serenity Room (20:02). The sub-scenario "A Grave Injury" begins. She must check on Tseng. Aerith checks around the Serenity Room. Then, she approaches Tseng at the central pedestal (21:22). A cutscene takes place. "A Grave Injury" complete. The sub-scenario "An Ancient's Purview" begins. Aerith examines the pedestal in the room (23:13). Another event takes place. Most of the party has trials now, except it seems for our merc. "An Ancient's Purview" complete. We regain control of Aerith after the scene (24:56). The sub-scenario "To Each Their Trial" begins. Aerith is being pointed to a door at the 2 o'clock position. She goes around the area and chats with her comrades. After saving, Aerith takes the door at the 2 o'clock position. 27:36 - Temple of the Ancients - Shrine of Trials Aerith enters a Shrine of Trials. She follows the hall and goes downstairs. There is a curious altar at the end. Aerith examines the statue at the altar (28:36). "To Each Their Trial" complete. A cutscene takes place. Something odd is happening. 29:03 - Temple of the Ancients - Red XIII's Trial We gain control of Red XIII. His scenario "The Trial of Red XIII" begins. There are more climbing walls like there were in the Cave of the Gi. He is being fired on by Shinra forces. He must go forward, climb walls, and flee. But then, he enters what looks like Hojo's lab (30:13). An event takes place as Red XIII continues forward (30:27). Well, this is most unpleasant. Afterwards, the Shinra guards will drag Red forward (30:57). During this, Red must struggle with trigger presses as shown. Another unpleasant event takes place at the end of the line (31:48). Oh, I can't wait to take out this mad scientist, but it'll be a while. "The Trial of Red XIII" complete. 32:46 - Temple of the Ancients - Tifa's Trial In the next scene, we switch to Tifa. She is taken to a familiar place indeed. We gain control of Tifa (33:33). Her scenario "The Trial of Tifa" begins. As she goes upstairs to the Water Tower Square, a brief event takes place (33:51). Tifa climbs the Water Tower. An event takes place on the viewing platform (34:15). I'm detecting a theme to these trials. After the event, we regain control of Tifa (34:34). She climbs down the ladder and follows the young Cloud northeast. Another event takes place when she approaches the young Cloud (35:02). We regain control of Tifa after this event (35:17). She heads up the northeastern stairs out of town. She takes the door into the Nibel Mako Reactor (35:39). A cutscene takes place. After the scene, Tifa follows the corridor through the reactor (35:56). As she approaches her father, another cutscene takes place (36:15). "The Trial of Tifa" complete. 37:04 - Temple of the Ancients - Yuffie's Trial We switch to Yuffie in the next scene. We gain control of Yuffie (37:19). Her scenario "The Trial of Yuffie" begins. An event takes place as she goes down the stairs ahead of her (37:47). Unsettling. Afterwards, she must navigate a barred cage around an exhaust fan (37:57). As she goes up and approaches a pinwheel, she has a vision of Sonon (38:32). She follows him up and to the right around the corner. Continuing up after the turn, Yuffie approaches the next pinwheel for another vision of Sonon (38:54). She follows him up and to the right around the corner again. Yuffie approaches the next pinwheel for another vision (39:09). Again, she follows him up and to the right around the corner. Going up, Yuffie approaches the next pinwheel for another vision of Sonon (39:30). She follows him up and to the right around the corner once more. Farther to the right, she goes down and finds solid floor at last. Following the next corridor, she reaches a room with debris (39:58). She uses the Grappling Hook to get through this room. After landing, Yuffie operates the controls by the next door (40:54). This triggers a scene with Sonon and an unpleasant character named Nero. "The Trial of Yuffie" complete. 42:07 - Temple of the Ancients - Barret's Trial We switch to Barret in the next scene. We gain control of Barret (42:39). His scenario "The Trial of Barret" begins. Barret takes the path ahead of him into old Corel. Hm, this is looking too nice so far. As Barret approaches Myrna at the end of the path, a cutscene takes place (44:13). It doesn't take long before things return to form for these trials. We regain control of Barret afterwards (45:24). He goes forward and passes under the debris to the ruins of Corel. Barret comes to a gate (46:36). He examines the gate and kicks it a few times to knock it down. He approaches Myrna for a sad cutscene (46:58). Sorry, Barret. "The Trial of Barret" complete. 47:26 - Temple of the Ancients - Aerith's Trial We switch to Aerith in the next scene. She is taken to a train car where Ifalna and young Aerith are. Aerith looks around and examines the butterfly on the floor (48:20). An event takes place. Aerith examines the butterfly on the far wall for an event (48:41). Another event takes place when she examines the butterfly on the wall to the right (48:54). Finally, she examines the butterfly on the door to the left for a cutscene (49:12). Another scene takes place at an Undercity train station (49:49). After the event, we gain control of young Aerith (50:26). Her scenario "The Trial of Aerith" begins. As young Aerith explores the train station, she must ask for help with the player pressing the L2 button. Unfortunately, no one even seems to care. A cutscene takes place as she appeals to a group of people around the far side of the train station (54:34). Poor little thing. However, she does eventually meet someone who will listen. We regain control of young Aerith (56:17). She makes her way back towards her mother. Another cutscene takes place as young Aerith approaches Ifalna (57:23). Sorry you had to relive that, Aerith. "The Trial of Aerith" complete. 59:48 - Temple of the Ancients - Serenity Room We return to the Serenity Room for a cutscene after the trials. Hm, this room reminds me of something in the original game's Temple of the Ancients. Who else wants to slap Cloud right now? We regain control of Cloud in the Serenity Room after the events (1:03:15). The main scenario "The Hall of Resurrection" is still in progress. What the game does not say is that other doors around the Serenity Room will now open and grant access to treasures. The party saves. Next time, they will explore the area around the Serenity Room.
