This is AMAZING. Literally never gets old. About 4 years old now right? I still watch this video start to finish every so often, really sad you don't get to see this level of drive and prowess when it comes to JRPGs anymore :( I think of all the FFs, X was my favorite to challenge run/watch be challenged, so many boundaries were broken in this game its ridiculous. Saddening how under-appreciated this kind of thing goes though, the number of "this is a waste of time" comments I've seen have floored me.

A THOUSAND HOURS?!!! REALLY?!!! OH MY GOD, YOUR LOVE HAS BECOME AN OBSESSION!!! Well, dang, congrats for such a feat! I was trying to consider how much time would it take to fully complete FFX NSG, but if it really takes that much time is too much, Im getting quite tired with the 90+ hours I have been investing in completing for the first time the International version, and I love this game. But man, you are truly dedicated. You are awesom.

In regards to your question at around 1:23:00, maybe it's because Pain delayed Dark Anima's turn. I know that when the player's Anima uses Pain, Anima's opponent tends to have an extra turn before Anima gets her next turn. The same mechanics may apply in this situation.

Hey man. Never seen this video before (I knew SOMEONE done it), but landed her by accident. I did watch a good hour of it, not everything. But... omg, nice man! The idea of Rikku's second weapon with mag+30% is simple, yet very effective. Dark Anima was nice to you, especially the first half, but you deserved it! GREAT job. Greets, zzanmato (from GFAQs message board)
@Dansg0810 жыл бұрын
Hey, nice to have an old vet from the board commenting :) I wish I could say I thought of the weapon modification myself, but like I said in the video, ChaosN was the mastermind behind that one. I think Dark Anima more than made up for it in the last half of the battle when it refused to allow me to summon, but I got through it in the end with a little (okay a lot) of luck. I'm just happy that I managed to be the first to do this, which was my goal when I started. Might seem a waste of time/stupid to some, but I consider this one of my greatest personal achievements :)
@zzanmato12310 жыл бұрын
dansg08 It's not a waste of time if you're the first one to complete it, it's perfectly fine to feel proud about it. And even if it costs lots of hours, the result is a Dark Anima falling on the ground thinking: 'omg, did I just lose to a NSG party?' ^_^ I was also glad when I came up with strategies myself for bosses in NSGRONI, and proud when they actually worked.

Rikku's turn was two turns away after being revived because pain is a slow move, which sets your next go back further. He did two pains in a row, one being after Rikku got back up. This caused Rikku's go to be sooner than with his basic attack.

Regarding the Rikku-Turn-Wonder towards the end: After you dismissed the aeons, there were 3 DA turns until Rikku got a chance. After she dies you can see there are two turns until she gets a turn, but meanwhile DA did two attacks, making a total of four turns of DA.

This was godlike... you should do a no sphere grid speedrun, there are only 2 people on the speedrun leaderboard (Speedrun.com). the most recent one was december 2017. I see that you have a patereon, so i'm sure your still around to read this comment and maybe take on the challenge. the WR for it is 12 hours and 21 min... which is... insane considering that the world record for an any% speedrun is 10 hours and 26 min. it'll be nice to see a ffx speedrun in 2018!
@Dansg086 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't be able to better that unless I spent countless hours mastering the run. At this stage there is almost nothing new to add to the strategies and more of it comes down to RNG. I just don't have the time anymore for those kinds of things unfortunately. 12 hrs 21 min is an incredible time, I have no idea how they did that :P Underdog's Secrets most likely :)

Amazing. How much time and effort you put into this. I just recently bought HD Remaster. I played the original PS2 version but had no Dark Aeons. I got pretty good and was able to defeat most of the monsters in the arena but I really wanted to test my might against a dark aeon. I've been working on it again and I almost forgot how much of a pain it is to get everything you need. So far I've defeated Dark Valefor and Ifrit. Still haven't got my armor to what I want it to be but was able to defeat them. No aeons and my sphere grid isn't even close to being finished. So far so good. Now I'm working on my armor for everyone. So after I get what I need I'll start trying out Ixion and Shiva. After that I plan to finish my sphere grid and work my way a long. About 3/4 finished on everyone's armor. I'm gonna try to defeat all Dark Aeons and Penance without aeons but if I can't I'm gonna have to do some work with my aeons. I feel like this is a big achievement to get. You on the other hand are unbelievably nuts! I would of never thought this could be done. You really must love this game to put towards 4 years into it. I play for a month and I'm already starting to feel the pain lol. Kudos to you my friend! BTW who was the one that originally came up with this bright idea? If you know do you think it was possible at the time? I bet this challenge was made up as an impossible feat but somehow you pulled it off. Now you can say in your face to that dude. lmao.

Hey, if you check the description it has the original FAQ that was written by one of the first people to start up this NSG Dark Aeon challenge back in 2001/2002. I heard about NSGNZDA through Darkkefka's videos back in like 2007 or so and it seemed interesting. I then found the FAQ and read about the "prophecy" of someone maybe one day defeating Dark Anima. I researched online and found that in 07/08 it was still something that hadn't ever been done, and back then there were a lot of people in the FFX community actively trying, so I joined the hunt. I of course loved the game or I wouldn't have spent so much time on it, but when you break it up over 4-5 years I didn't spend 8 hours a day 365 days a year working on it. It was one of those things where you become part of an active community of people who are trying to do what you are doing and become inspired to be the first to achieve it. I was in my mid teens at the time and in high school so I had plenty of time to spend in pursuit of this. If I was in my 20s and heard about this challenge I'd likely never have started :) But in retrospect I'm glad I did, because the dream of one day completing this challenge and uploading a video of it was the reason this channel was created - Dansg08 = Dark Anima No Sphere Grid 2008. When I see how far the channel has come now and the joy I get from it every single day it was unwillingly the best decision I ever made :)

Are you still the only one to beat dark anima nsg? I know you were the first but still the only one would be pretty cool in this challenge. And there's no competition from my side i have the need to level up characters. I couldn't do nsg challenges. Well i think kilika would be possible for me but then it's over.

@Arumenuyama12 жыл бұрын
Wrong. The luck is important here, yes, but it's far from JUST luck. Some strategic decisions, like important armor shifts that author describes, were crucial for this challenge, it could be impossible without them. Smart managing of CTB-bar and not doing serious mistakes during tough 100 min. battle is important too.
