Final Fantasy 12 Great Crystal Path to Omega Mark XII
The Great Crystal is a very confusing area due to the lack of any map system. Follow my step by step instructions in order to reach Omega Mark XII. Omega is a Superboss and will require a very strong team. You must have accepted the hunt for Yiazmat before this boss becomes attackable.
Final Fantasy 12 was first released way back in 2006 on the PS2. At the time, it was considered somewhat controversial by many Final Fantasy fans due to its departure from traditional FF gameplay. However, it is now looked back on fondly and many would consider Final Fantasy XII to be the best entry in the franchise. In 2007 the International Zodiac edition was released (in Japan only), and this version of the game included a more traditional job-based system and a new battle areana. For this remastered release, these additional changes are being brought to us fans in the West for the first time ever - along with high resolution textures and remastered soundtrack!

It's very FFXI inspired in some of its weirdness, like places that don't have official maps, or very odd, lengthy quests required to get one for an area/region. Also, the place known as "Sky" (Ru'Avitau) had teleporter mazes inside that were based around WHEN you activated a portal (the number in the seconds spot on your in-game clock). People with lag would be getting warped into horrible rooms with faceless ancient machines with lasers and stuff kinda frequently. There WAS a map, but you needed to place markers all over it or print one from a site to document which portals went were, and WHEN.

I didn't, and never got to Omega back then. Replaying it now and considered drawing a map, then was like "wait, shit's been out for 18 years. There are maps out there already." But before that (staring at Omega right now but didn't know why it's deactivated), I'd spent about two days in here memorizing things. Again. 🤦🏾‍♂️

when i got the game on the PS2 it came with a walkthrough guide. It tells you their weaknesses, their drops etc. It also has a check box. Im missing four at the time of this post. Omega, Yizamat, Cubus and Raindancer. Thought id do them in that order. 2nd hardest, hardestm rarest then simp at end. Following this, its trial mode. I also found out that once you got all espers and after the pharos section of the game, the clan moogle will reset you jobs if you ask her to.

look up a map online. the one on jegged.com is really helpful and each gate is color-coded and mapped out. you can find it on Google images and is much more useful than this video. the great crystal is actually pretty bearable as long as you can survive against the enemies

Another thing that makes the Great Crystal such a nuisance is the torturous way you need to spawn Larva Eater. Killing 256 of the same enemy. The rewards are worth it though. You can get the Mina. I got it earlier this evening.

I've about to finish the whole story and the only things left are defeating Venat, Vayne, Yiazmat and Omega Mark III. Seriously, I always got my players lost inside the Great Crystal, especially to find Omega Mark XII! I have to write down the path that my players going to cross. Without a map, Great Crystal is quite confusing and scary.

This is the easiest boss in the whole game. Set your gambit as: Leader : bubble Support one : Decoy and Reverse (to target leader) Support two : Reverse and Decoy (to target leader) Now you can leave controller and do some shopping, house cleaning have a poo or go out for a walk cause this will kill boss without failing Good luck!

I dreaded coming to this place back in OG FF12 for the PS2. I went in just for the story bits. No hastega, No weapon pickups and No Omega. I was lost in there and I didn't played the game for 2 weeks. But now I kinda like the place. I followed and written down Fuzz' and Radeevon's WT and made my own map for reference(i.e. Libra1 wall, right down, mid up, Capri GS, left up pass smoky t-rex). Just keep in mind that XX is the centered of this madness!lol

Yeah, the Great Crystal is annoying, but if you look at a map, it's not hard to memorize at all... wish we had one in 2006. I got the Special Edition guide, but refused to use it, so I don't know if it's in there. Was about to dig it out of the attic a couple days ago :P

Generally this walkthrough has been awesome. You were one of very few brave enough to do it. But this section was rough..It might have been worthy of a re do. You can always use the Cloud Save feature to make a back up in case of accidents likes this! Thank you for tackling this nightmarish area, and hefty game!

Went to the Great Crystal to get Ultima, the Esper. It was hell, a maze had to follow every directional step in the bradygames guide or would be stuck there forever. Omega Mark is the the strongest opponent in the game, there is only one method to defeat him the guide said.

Actually, it's kind of easy to defeat him. Give up on using Zodiark Esper to fight or wasting your Mist bar to active your special moves instead, used your Mist bar to cast spells on your players especially the players you used as decoys and keep one of them behind using range weapon.

no thats lame just beat him level 80's at least plus Bubble and Renew/Curaja ally any plus one attacking. I used zeromus move to do 78000 damage and quicking at the end because he was one shot 10000k damage lol.

This has been one of the most disappointing moments in my gaming career. I followed the guide to the letter (and even forgiven the OP for the few mistakes he made) and when I finally got to Omega, he cant be fought yet! I played this game 8 years ago on my PS2 and forgot that the Yiazmat hunt needs to be accepted first. Ive wasted enough time with this place and Im planning to let Omega Boss go home to his family. Anyways, I got what I came for which is the Hastega and Shellga buffs. This place will haunt my dreams until my dying day.

Huu Kares dude, I have been playing FF12 since the 2006 release and have probably done 10 complete play-throughs over the years. Last time, I killed Omega, went back to Crystal Core, realized I forgot to pick up the Omega badge, and went all the way back just to see if it happened to still be there. Oh well. On more than one occasion, I have gone there and he isn’t active.

@David Costello A year late but...to be honest, I love the Great Crystal's aesthetics and music. It's only the navigation that I hate otherwise I'd probably spend more time in there fighting enemies. What they could have done at the very least, if they didn't want to outright give you a map, was to have a blank map that fills in as you go but have key locations marked as you discovered them. Even that would have been better than...a big rock for a map.
