It's 5 % in the left part of the crystal tower left side in final fantasy 3. The green Dragon drops it, it's a drop rate higher if you kill them by making them confused and they kill themselves. Fun nutshell lore fact: As demonstrated in 21:57, Lalafelon and Hyurbert are actually a married couple in-game. The Eternity Ring teleport is the only way it would be possible for Lalafelon to teleport directly next to him like that.

Honesty, this is one place where the English translation of the original Japanese falls flat. The original translation reads more like "A magical doll modeled after Moenbryda. Urianger created this doll by himself in secret in order to sort out the feelings he did not realize he had until after her death. The guileless face he saw whenever she looked at him is rendered in the doll's gentle expression. " For some reason, the English translation team decided to turn it into a sex joke, completely killing the original vibe and turning something sweet and melancholic into something skeevy and uncomfortable, completely killing the mood in the process.

That's not just any dragoon though, he's Ricard Highwind/Gareth from FFI, literally the first dragon and first Highwind in the franchise. He's the reason Dragoons keep having the last name Highwind, even when they're not dragoons like Cid in FFVII. If Ronso had last names other than "Ronso", Kimahri would probably be a Highwind too, instead it's the name of the spear he uses with Triple Overdrive.

I feel whenever you have Cid pop up. I feel it would be funny to have the other Cid characters pop up from each Final Fantasy claiming there Cid. You can go for the same with Biggs and Wedge, but I feel it would be more funny to have the pilots from Star Wars in their flight suit appearing as soon as they call their names. Seriously, like, what the fuck was SE thinking!? Why are Coils and Crystal Tower, two quest lines that add a LOT to the game's story, optional content while we're stuck with mandatory filler quests? Why did they not make those two quest lines part of the main story? It would have saved the entire base game!

To be fair, they did eventually make Crystal Tower mandatory. When 5.3 dropped, they changed it so you had to do the Crystal Tower stuff to progress through 2.55 MSQ content, and if you were already passed 2.55, you had to do Crystal Tower to start 5.3 MSQ content. The big problem right now is mostly that all of Coils needs to be heavily rebalanced, because the content is considered too hard to make mandatory. Until the content has been sufficiently rebalanced that the devs feel comfortable including it in Normal Raids Roulette, they can't really make Coils mandatory, because the only ways to reliably experience it are to wait until you're at the end of Shadowbringers and have access to Cryptlurker's gear and then solo it, or to have a friend who is there run you through it. And rebalancing it, while I wouldn't expect it to be terribly labor intensive, is labor that could be spent making new content, so there's a sort of sunk cost fallacy where it's always better (read: more profitable) to be making new content than to address what might be considered minor inconveniences. That said, with all of the touching up they've done to ARR during the Shadowbringers patch cycle, I'm optimistic that one day we'll get a version of Coils that is properly accessible, and maybe then they'll make it mandatory.

(and for anyone reading along, this post is going to be rather spoiler heavy, so be forewarned) Consider, for a moment, some of the most endemic complaints about ARR, and particularly the ARR patch MSQ content: it's too long. It's a slog to play through. It lacks focus. You can't just add two major questlines into the mix and call it a day. That would just make it longer and less focused. Now, you might argue that what current serves as MSQ for the ARR patch content should be made optional, but I would posit that you run into a similar problem. That being, we learn some incredibly important things, things necessary to understand the plot going forward, during the ARR patch MSQ content. King Moggle Mog XII teaches us that primals are not necessarily extant beings being summoned, but beings that the summoners essentially create wholecloth. This is specifically important in HW later with Shiva and then Thordan and then Shinryu, and even moreso in ShB with Hydaelyn and Zodiark, but also more generally informs how the player views primal summoning going forward. With Leviathan, we learn how something akin to the echo can allow someone's soul to persist after death, which is how the Ascians work and alludes to the fact that the Ascians have mastery over the echo, which is broadly important for basically all of the Ascian stuff in ShB, but we also learn that primals can consume the soul in this aetherial state, which is how Lahabrea ultimately dies in HW. With Ramuh, we learn that how a given primal behaves is influenced by how the people summoning them expect them to behave, which is reinforced later with Ga Bu in HW, and leads naturally into the whole Amaurot thing in ShB. Setting up Ice Heart and Shiva is pretty important for transitioning into HW, and Nabriales is important for demonstrating that Ascians can be killed, which comes back later when the player kills Igeyorhm, and again with Hades. Moreover, it's important for underlying how Elidibus is different from other Ascians, given that in several scenarios prior to the reveal in 5.3, he's shown to flee from lethal situations rather than allow himself to die and be reborn like other Ascians. And I don't think anyone wants to remove the Crystal Braves and Taledji Adeledji. I'd go so far as to say that I wish the writers had fully committed to it, rather than walking most of it back midway through HW. That whole sequence is, I think, a high point for most players in ARR, and it sucks that it's later cheapened in HW. So while there's lots of stuff in the existing MSQ that I'd tweak to try and make it flow more smoothly, there's nothing that I'd be comfortable just removing entirely. By contrast, the Crystal Tower doesn't become important until ShB, and while it is very important for 5.3 to land, I actually feel like having played it sort of undermines base ShB. Like, the moment I laid eyes on the Crystal Exarch in the SB patch MSQ, I was like "oh, it's G'raha Tia, neat" and it was actively frustrating that the game treated it like a real secret throughout base ShB and like a big reveal towards the end. Likewise, while Coils is important for Alisaie's character growth and resolving a lot of stuff to do with 1.X and filling out the backstory, I feel like it isn't really called back to that much until like 5.4 when Lunar Bahamut is introduced. And for new players who never met Louisoix, his story didn't really need resolving: he died at Carteneau fighting Bahamut, who also died. Even Alisaie's character growth is sort of superfluous, because if you don't do Coils, you don't really see her starting point anyway, she just shows up in HW and you assume that's how she's always been until Alphinaud calls attention to this change in her that you inspired (which, by the way, very confusing line if you haven't done Coils yet, not sure why that isn't conditional dialog that checks to make sure you've done Coils already). So, while I think both Crystal Tower and Coils are better constructed, I think that the stuff that currently is the ARR patch MSQ is more narratively necessary to the larger story. (And also, again, Coils needs to be completely overhauled on the mechanical end before it could ever be mandatory content. Frankly, even without making it mandatory, I think a lot more people would experience it if it were properly accessible. It frustrates me a lot that it still hasn't been fixed.)

I've been playing FFXIV slowly and mostly blind for a while and I didn't know about half of the stuff that was covered in this video because I just raced through the MSQ of The Seventh Astral Era to get to HW. I didn't know there was plot development for female Alphinuad I mean Alisaie, OR Nero! I'm excited to see Haurchefant, and hoping future episodes mention his Japanese only lore where he's a bit perverted and seems to have a huge crush on the player character. And finally...nice Futurama reference, and I using a BGM from Parasite Eve made me squee. Awesome video!

In a way I find it funny how you don't draw horns on Kan-E-Senna. They are actually pretty big, but hard to notice if you don't know they are there. I only noticed when they drew attention to them during the White Mage questline.
