I used to sleep to this music in the early 90's...Aplin gets a bad rap but Final Fight & Double Dragon II captured the spirit of the coin-ops in a way that I remain grateful for.

I can't agree with you on Final Fight capturing the spirit of the arcade machine. It felt too much like a half finished game and there was far too much left out. However, I wholeheartedly agree with you on Double Dragon II. Even with the missing moves it was one of the best ports ever made, and certainly one of the best beat 'em ups on the Amiga.

out of all the Amiga tunes I've heard this is the one I'm often puzzled by. I quite like some moments to it but in all my times listening to it, I come away thinking it's an ok piece but certainly not remarkable. This particular music gets elevated to genius level by some folk meaning it's beyond even a hyper level of music composition like some right belters Hybris, Utopia or most of Chris Huelsbeck work etc on Amiga. Those are all on a different page to this. There's some absolutely stunning music for Amiga and not all of that even quite reaches a genius level Of course I get people liking it but objectively it's not an especially great piece comparatively. That's shouldn't matter of course if people enjoy it but I think what people may enjoy more about it is it's atmosphere rather than being a great piece of music. I'd certainly like to know why people think it's so incredibly good. Maybe people can point this out I certainly don't wish to shit on the effort that it took to write but it's just a curious thing because it's the only piece I see universally applauded so much and I'm not sure why

The port is as good as one can hope for. Multiple big bobs on screen are just not Amiga friendly.
@Syklonus6 жыл бұрын
I don't agree. The problem wasn't the system, it was how the gameplay was programmed. If the attack combinations of the characters had been kept in then the game would have been far more playable. That's just an animation code which could be done without any loss of power, because sometimes there are six enemies on screen at once when there's no need for that as it saps the CPU power and RAM which could have been used to have more moves for the players.
