Ursula those greens looked sooooo good!! I finally harvested mine so they can bounce back. I cleaned them and cut them up & put them in the freezer. I want to try pressure canning them with smoked turkey or ham. I’ve never done that, but the shelf life is better than freezing. That’s my goal for 2025. Thx 4 sharing & Happy New Year!!
@harveycontainergardener332Сағат бұрын
Hey @SteffaniesJourney, thanks. I actually cooked them on New Years with 2 smoked turkey legs, I really enjoyed them. The next harvest will go in the freezer but very interested in learning how to pressure canning them as well. You have a terrific goal for 2025, I may have to add that to my list as well. Happy New Years.

Ursula what's the diffirence of Mustered greens & collards?
@harveycontainergardener3322 сағат бұрын
Hi @hazeljohnstone-c8x, the mustard greens leaves are thinner and when cooked, they have a peppery taste to them and the collard greens leaves are thicker and have a sweeter taste to them. Both are good but I prefer the collard over mustards but like growing both. Happy Holidays.

Nice harvest what variety tree collard seed did you purchased year Happy new year
@harveycontainergardener33249 минут бұрын
Hi @NJCALI, thanks so much. I don't know the collard variety, I didn't purchase tree collard seeds. I purchased and planted Southern Georgia Collards seeds and ended up with 1 of the plants being a tree collard that was in the pack. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Happy Holidays.

What size are those pots orange pots and what size and where did you get those big pots from inside the cage??
@harveycontainergardener3322 сағат бұрын
Hey @karensanders9777, DD's discount store is where I purchased all my pots, I like them because they have the bottom reservoir to hold water and the pots are not expensive there. The pots didn't have the actual size on them but comparing them to my grow bags, I would estimate the Orange pots are about 15 gallon pots and the ones in the crop cage are about 10 gallon pots. Happy Holidays.

Where do you get your tree collards seeds from.
@harveycontainergardener3322 сағат бұрын
Hi @shannonmainer2412, I purchased a pack of Georgia Southern collard seeds and a tree collard seed or 2 must have been in that pack. To my surprise, I grew a tree collard, it went to seed and I harvested the seeds and planted them last Fall. I can't guarantee if every seed will produce a tree collard but I have some to share if your interested in growing some, let me know. Happy Holidays.

Hello, this is Jeanette from Baton Rouge and I’m looking at your video and I would like to know where do you get your screen over your greens the black screen you have could you tell me where you found that at?
@harveycontainergardener3322 сағат бұрын
Hey @user-iq4bh6em2f, I purchased it from Amazon for about $70. It's called a crop cage and the size I have is 6 1/2 tall, 6 1/2 wide and 10 ft long. They have multiple sizes but that's a good size for me. It helps keep the moths, worms and flying bugs away from my greens. I have a lot of family in Baton Rouge, I'm about 10 minutes from New Orleans. Happy Holidays Jeanette.

It look like the big leaves maybe because look like only 1 plant inside the pot and the pots with 3 plants produced smaller leaves maybe??
@harveycontainergardener3322 сағат бұрын
Hey Karensanders9777, You are right, the pot with only 1 plant had the bigger leaves and the pots with multiple plants had smaller leaves. Next time I plant, I will not over-plant in 1 pot. Lesson learned each season. Happy Holidays.
