This has been a great series. Your numbers seem much more realistic then many of these 600 - 1000 videos. Thank you for doing this. We are planning to retire there in 2 years. I am sure it is boring in lockdown there but it sure seems like paradise every time I have visited but not during this situation.

You could definitely live on $1000 a month if you were single or just had a partner, but if a kid is involved, especially a baby, then it's gonna be more expensive. It really depends on what you buy though. Eat like a Filipino/Filipina instead of western food and it would work out cheaper. Stay safe!

It all depends on who you are and what you want. I met mostly single retired guys who were expats on my 20+ trips to the Philippines. 90% were in Cebu City and metro manila. They wanted the most bang for their buck and to date filipinas and did not want families. For that, cities are great because you can walk everywhere and meet up w expats, drink coffee, and shoot the breeze. But if you're younger and want a family, you really need to have a steady income of 2000USD or more so that you can live comfortably. Just realize 2k USD a month in the provinces can probly can give you a 4k usd life in NY. I suggest 3k USD a month income or more because you will want to travel and stay in hotels and eat decent meals out. Have fun.

Tim, Really and truly , it seems to be a monumental task to track your spending . You help out Crissie’s family, and you can not determine how much feed goes to your two pigs . Really, the pigs should be fed separately, to make sure each pig gets the appropriate amount of feed . One pig will be to thin one too heavy . That being said , you are using a window unit AC , which are very inefficient. You are actually cooling just two rooms , right ? All those factors can’t be compared to a well insulated , family sized home. If you are diligently trying to hold costs down, that’s the best you can do under your circumstances . Helping the other family plus the pigs is going to fluctuate from month to month. I do want to mention that the pig pens look nice and clean . I commend that you are trying to keep a reign on expenses, but that is very stressful .God bless you and your family🙏🏻🙏🏻. We were married 46 1/2 years when my husband died 7 years ago. Raised three children on our family dairy farm . It is stressful to spend money , period ! 🌸💕🌸
@TimKyoutube4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Charlotte. We don't own the property so we cant change the AC. As far as the pigs, it is hard to give advice on something I don't know. Christin's mom has been raising them her whole life, although you are probably right. 46 years is quite a bit of time! Thanks for sharing.

Good series on cost. As you mentioned you are under lockdown...eating at restaurants and driving cost if no lockdown my cost would easily double. Maybe you should tag/mark your pigs so you can identify. Respectfully, your wife is the cutest thing! I got tickled when you asked her about the side of pig cage that was empty....my wife has been in Texas now 13 years and now and then she still has to think of the English word she wants. Enjoy all your videos...y’all stay safe!

Staples like rice, beans, and flour, cost about the same everywhere in the world except for places where they have government subsidies. They are all based on world market prices because they are traded world wide. You could cut your budget if you had to. You could eat a bowl of rice 3x a day. Add a few fruits and veggies and a little meat, you could probably feed both of you for less than $50/month, but who wants to live that way unless they have to?

Hi tim! I really thought you might be able to finish around $1000 USD for a month, even with a wife and baby. Keep trying, if you want to stretch your budget. I find food cost much less there. I went to the base commissary and spent $111 yesterday, I am thinking these items there would have been much less. I never spent that much ever at the SM supermarket for groceries. I believe my cost was about 2000 PHP ($40 USD) per week for nearly the same items. It can be challenging if some of procured items go for a walk...lol. Tag the pigs for identification. Trice is a word...hehe. She is right. Yeah, you are paying to feed all those hogs...hard to separate when feeding, but they could have used some of theirs and some of yours...maybe. I did use the VA clinic in Manila to save on the travel insurance, but you are a near permanent resident. I can say your final cost per month is cheaper than my basic monthly cost ($4000 USD) in the USA. You do make some valid points about the budget. Yes, the electric is very expensive...I found I had to turn off the air-con when I leave the condo to save of its cost. Great subject and commentary. I am glad you did this. Thanks.

Power rates in the Philippines are one of the highest is Asia. Goods in the supermarkets also don't come cheap. Cheaper is the cost of accommodation and transportation. The Philippines has the highest sales tax rates in Asia at 12%. Malaysia is 6%. Thailand 7%. Indonesia 10%. Phil health for foreigners is 17.000 pesos a year. There is now, also a 12% tax on petro in the Philippines. Even on medical drugs there is 12% sales tax. To stay a year on a tourist visa cost $450.

But other than that I'm really surprised how much you spend. Probably good you did this little exercise.

Hey sir Tim, you can lessen costs a little bit by buying cheaper chocolates, those toblerones are expensive not because they are tastier by 2x! they are just expensive 10x more just because they are exported.. Try Goya brand of Philippines its good and 10x cheaper .. I also previously saw your other vids buying expensive chips like Pringles, it is not that much tastier too and again some Philippine brands are better. I am saying these because I noticed these with my sister. When you actually math it, its atleast 10x cheaper! They think its more tastier or healthier but actually its not, you are just paying for the export and the brand. TLDR: buy Philippine brands, there are good/best our there I promise you, just find whats best suits you. Also how come "Clothing" is 60$ a month? Lastly, note that your electricity cost is normal for PH as we already surveyed that in my college class.

Yes Great turn around man! Thanks for sharing your monthly costs of living! my electric bill is between $300-$500 a month in Los Angeles for my self and my elderly father. It must have been a long time since you were paying $30 a month for electricity here like before both of us were born. lol. Maybe you are thinking of the gas bill for natural gas. That I can do in the summer when we don't use heat, just the central air. I am on SSI and a pension and I think I could live by myself for 1000-1200 somewhere like Baguio, Tagaytay, or a province, close to, but not in the city. Keep in mind you have a family of 3, so you could probably do the same if you were still single. Most of these vloggers are also single that claim they can live on $1000 a month. Thanks again for sharing all this with us. Great lessons to be considered for everyone. Take care and God bless you all! David

Tim, you’re spending out for three, so your monthly costs are going to reflect that. A single person could easily get by on 1k a month, assuming they are not partying every night, etc. I didn’t hear you acknowledge in your video that the figure you arrived at reflects your particular circumstance (you have dependents to support financially).

As a single guy, I spend less than $1000 in sweden living a pretty good life. No alcohol or travel included. You should only by local goods, and you can live on $300 in Leyte for sure, if you wont use AC. Get a fishing rod and a small boat and go fishing, maybe can even fish from the shore. Hi my friend Tim , I truly don't know where you were living in the United States and only paying $35 for electricity, but I live in a very small 3 bedroom 1 bath house and there is only 2 of us living here. We don't use Air Con and our electric bill is always over $150 a month and we get senior citizen discount Two. I rent one Bedroom in the house for $500 a month and that's cheap Here in California. A one bedroom apartment cost $1250 a month here and that's just the rent no utility's included. So for one person renting a 1 bedroom apartment , plus utilities and food is well over $2000 us dollars. This is just to give you a updated idea of current cost here in the United States. On average to rent a bedroom in a house Here in California is $850 a month, that being said I only get $1150 a month on my disability retirement. So I am very lucky to have this place for $500 plus half the utility's. Utility's are not just electric bill, but also water, sewage and barboge . Which is another $150 a month, then the cost of food, car insurance and gasoline and by the way gas is $5.50 a gallon here. My vehicle has a 20 gallon tank so it is over $100 dollars to fill in Up

For me it depends on your lifestyle! Like me my husband is very picky to eat ,it would cost us more for food !! But if you eat locally and cook your own food that’s a different story!
