The way the motor plates work, reminds me of how open-wheel racecars use the motor as a stressed member of the chassis, only here you're gaining torsional rigidity to keep the front end aligned and keep the car straight.

I knew a huge amount of work went into building one of these cars but i didnt truly understand how meticulous the craftsmanship is. Its a very precise sculpture thats made to go 0-230mph in 5 seconds. Really impressive stuff.

Too many people see 1 hour car shows where its done and driving with 3 commercial breaks. What shocks me is how fast this is coming together. I own a shop doing motorsport electrical and I couldn't build out harnesses for this car in the amount of time they have built a roller.

I thought that the front engine plate was overkill till you mentioned the strut.. Our front plate just ran a saddle to top frame rail and a pair of hose clamps (Plueger AA/FC chassis).. You have a really talented shop crew...

I don’t know much about fabrication and I’m a little surprised at how analog the process is and how a lot of it is just done freehand. I kinda thought there would be some CAD involved and more precise measurements than “15 3/8 inches”, especially for a car with 5000hp. I thought they would start with the engine measurements and build motor mounts and trans mounts and build the frame to fit those measurements. It’s a fascinating process and these guys are masters of their craft.

Mounted the engine in my build today :) 2 cross pieces of 25x25x2mm onto a plate, mind you it’s only a 212cc in a cyclekart so should be good 😂

Just a thought. On the front motor plate. If you included 2 holes inbetween the bolts next to the framework. weld in tabs onto the tube, with tapered pins that line up with extra holes. This would give something to guide the motor plate into position during engine installation

Maybe I’m thinking about this wrong. But the motor actually becomes part of the chassis and strengthens it. To help stop the twist. The only place that should really have strain on it is the rear of the chassis
