"nhé" is equivalent to english "let's (verb) something" and "nhỉ" is like a tag-question or "right?" in english

Nhé strike me as extremely similar to the Japanese よ (yo), and nhỉ is very similar to ね (ne).

Or maybe the other way around, but these two in Vietnamese as a pair remind me of the Japanese ones as a pair.

@@K2142F well, Im a Vietnamese and not really good at JPese, but I think its it like this. I will use romaji because Im lazy :v Ne is like a combination of nhỉ and nhé. Like when expect for agreement, express emotion,... For eg (Bộ phim đó hay nhỉ. - Sono eiga wa omoshiroi desune.), (Cố gắng lên nhé! - Ganbatte ne.),... Of course there are still some cases it not like that :v Yo is like "đấy", "đó nha", "đó",... Use to announce the info that the listener doesnt know. So the sentence sound confident,... For eg (Ngày kia có cuộc họp đấy! - Asatte kaigi desuyo.), (Mai tôi sẽ đi tới Disneyland đó. - Ashita Dizuniirando e ikuyo.)

@6:03 - Is 'tiện lợi' (convenient) the same as 'tiện nhỉ' (convenient)? if yes, for asking a question ending with 'convenient', should I always use 'tiện nhỉ'?

tiện = tiện lợi. "nhỉ" is put at the end of the sentence when you want the speaker agrees with your thinking. For example: tiếng Việt dễ nhỉ ? Do you think so :))

a possible american way would be to put the word "ha" at the end. Implying acceptance. "Lets go t the market ha"

Thank you :> Probably because I’ve been working with lots of English speakers and watching quite a few UK movies so somehow I picked up their accent a bit. But English is not my mother tongue so still kinda struggling to sound more natural 😂

My feeling is that women say 'nhé' but men say 'nhá'. 'Nhé' is such a girlish and cute sounding word that men can't possibly say it. I don't think I've ever head a guy say it. Please tell me if I'm wrong! Thanks for the wonderful video. I think you might be the only school in the world that has explained this mystery! This lesson should come quite early in the learner's course; I know I struggled for a long time wondering what these words were!

Nhé and nhỉ are written forms. These particles are pronounced very weak and short, so in spoken Vietnamese nhé is almost always relaxed to nhá or nhớ, and nhỉ becomes nhề or nhờ (since the word are said so softly, the rising part of hỏi tone is deleted, making it sound like huyền tone). I find when you say nhé and nhỉ it’s usually for cuteness effect

Not true, Northern Vietnamese use both nhá and nhé. I can confirm this as a Hanoian. Hen, nghen and nha are more common in the South, not sure about nhá though
