This drama was my addiction while it was airing and tbh I still haven't recovered. The withdrawals are brutal. The ending wasn't exactly what we wanted but it was still happy...just wanted more. The producer asked fans if they wanted a special episode so we're all waiting to hear a final confirmation.

One thing that I truly appreciate in this drama, is that there is no ridiculous jealousy or misunderstanding. I mean, yeah there exist some, but they don't drag very long. And you don't know how much I'm thankful for that. I'm sick with a character being jealous with MC then drive some misunderstanding between MLs (yes, I'm talking about that moon drama! How I wish to delete that character, sigh)

I haven't been this obsessed with a drama in quite a long while. One thing this drama does really really well is that it makes it extremely easy to have a connection with the characters. Every character including the supportive characters are just soo soo lovable. I also loved the main leads of this drama a little too much, which is rare. Chen Xingxu really impressed me here, he managed to portray five different characters at the same time really well. Every single character works so well together (love the sisterly bond). Even though the ending left me wanting more😭 Overall I loved this drama very much!

I love what they did with the story of the 4 main leads. Both stories are so beautiful that they don't feel like a second lead. I continuously wanted to watch both couples. That's a first for me.

I absolutely adored this drama--I think it's the first xianxia drama in a very long time that I never had to struggle to stay with to the end. And a big part of that are the female characters--none of them, NONE, are annoying. Even the Big Bad Lady was never annoying, she was super convincing in her evilness. The two sisters were amazing together, and Yetan was such a strong character, _actually_ strong, not just that "we're told that she's strong but you can't really tell by anything she does" that we usually see--she's simply indomitable, and Li Landi played her to perfection. The way she actually does become the Devil of the Void toward the end and her husband (the most powerful Immortal of the Heavenly realm) is just super supportive and goes and buys her wonton soup! What's not to love? It was entertaining, funny, heartwrenching, exciting, and very very satisfying. Also, I noticed that a whole bunch of the Starry Love cast are also in Guardians of the Lands, including the two princesses (although Li Landi only has a guest role)!

This drama is sooooo good. I don't even like xianxia series but I love this one. I give it 9/10. If they make 1 more episode to cover in more details about the happy ending, I'll give it a 10. I'm watching it the 2nd time now and still hilarious! Not many series can make me watch more than once but this one can.

I enjoyed it very much (the ending not so much) I felt kind of bad for Qiheng, and his ill fated love to Husui. The voice of the actor Chen Xing Xu is so manly and mesmerizing, I am so glad they didn't dubb him.

Starry Love has officially taken over Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms & Ashes of Love as my favorite fantasy drama. This is the first time where I immediately re-watch the drama after I finished it the first time. I love Chen Xingxu, he's #1 in my love list now. His voice is just so yummy.

They all (every single cast) worked hard and deserve all the recognition. If only the director could be like TMPB . Omg, this drama would be a hit !. She knows how to emotionally move and touches all the scenes that needed to be touched and ended each eps with anxious anticipation . I literally was so zombie 🧟‍♀️ out going to work without any sleep.💤. 🤭😁 It was my first and last drama that I watched that I had so much anxiety, anxious anticipation, and team no sleep ! I agree with the comment on the kissing scene. Quite a few times I was like, "Wtf so bright, what do you want me to see exactly?" The world building is a little shaky so yeah, I was not too touched about the sacrifice for the world or Qing Kui for Ye Tan. It felt like, "Okay, so the plot needs this, and I could see it coming from the past 2 episodes anyway". I was sad in that scene cause I thought about her husband's feeling, he saw her died in front of her while he could do nothing. Most of the time I was sad because of the 4 lead's feeling, not really because of the said 'big theme' of 'big picture'. I wish for the ending to be more explicit too but as long as it insinuates Happy Ending, I can still accept it. Anyway, this drama really helped me through my heavy load of work and course study right now and I appreciate the joy it brought whenever they did fucking funny things (which made me almost choked on my tea at times)~ Now, if only Back from the brink can keep the same spirit since the novel is so funny... I sincerely hope they don't butcher it up... *prays fervently*

I loved this drama top to bottom. The only things I didn't liked as you explained where the classic Xianxia Aesthetics (which has been overused), the lighting (sometimes too light, sometimes too dark). The ending, we can think that the sisters will cultivate a Human body at some point. That's pretty much the idea in these cultivation dramas that some animals or plants cultivate a human consciousness and body (the same like the Corriander girl did eventually), but it would have been better if they shown us them coming back into human forms even for a few seconds. Also the world building, I wish they would have explained a little what is all about the 4 realms, their history, dynamics, etc. But yeah there is no perfect drama out there but this is close to perfection.

I think I agree that this drama is so much fun and entertaining to watch ! I laugh so hard with the emperor’s scene when he tried to steal that bottle. Also I cried a lot when she lost her sister so sad and the chemistry between Chen Xingxu and Landy so great and all the supporting rolls so much fun to watch. I’m gonna rewatch it that is now completed instead of 2 episodes a day which that’s how my day started lol 😂 for the past weeks ! A must watch drama when you love Landy and Oliver ❤

I am so glad that this has the "Twin Flowers" that are not enemies or jealous of each other. They stay true to each other through thick and thin. I love it! The only thing is, I do not like the voice dub for the ML. 😢 His "normal" voice was fine had they kept it.

Thanks for reviewing this, was waiting for it. You are a pretty tough Chinese drama analyst but it is great you enjoyed this series. I am a huge fan of Li Landy, and now CXX and really enjoyed this series the last few weeks. Yes, agree, I cannot wait to see their future projects. I am looking forward to "Su Ji" starring Li Landy and Zhu Zhengting directed by Go Yik Chun who did "The Empress of China" as that was visually beautiful. Agree that the colour and lighting was not great in this but because there was more positives to this, it was easily ignored. I think "The Starry Love" turned out great and enjoyable as it did was due to the vibe, fun, positivity and laugh on the set. Have watched plenty of the BTS with cast and crew and interviews with the cast, you can clearly see they all genuinely get on really well with eachother. Just like every workplace, get the culture right and the output would be even better. Having the drama being 80% comedy base (like you said) would also contribute to the morale on set as well with all the Seratonin, Dopamine, Endorphins and Oxytocin running among eachother (Especially the male cast gym junkies on set). Overall, great vibes, experienced ML, FL, quality actors made this a success. CXX and Li Landy both attended the most prestigious school of Drama in the country and were child actors, so I definitely think the quality of the acting was there and it was a bonus that they genuinely got on well and in sync with eachother which translated on the screens. Happy it scored a 7.2 rating on Douban, 8.7/10 on MyDramaList, 9.3/10 on Viki and 9/10 on IMDB. Such a fun and enjoyable Feb and start of March because of this series. 💛

ChaoFeng and QingKui were the best thing about the drama for me. I just adored that pair. Also this is the first drama where the hottest guy of the town was the devil realm emperor. That guy was hot ! Now I am all obsessed on mini dramas like "Cheng Xi's song" and "Dong Lan Xue" And finally Chen Xing Xu's acting is really good as an actor.

I came across to your channel and found this video. Late comment but anyways 😅 The Starry Love is my first-ever cdrama that I watched up until the finale. I'm a newbie in the cdramaland 🤭 & we have the same thoughts. I like the story, the casts, the acting/portrayal except that I have a lot of questions abt Dongqiu(?) & Guixu. Also for me, it would be better if they focused in these two places aside from the four realms since the 2 sisters are connected with it. 40 episodes is already long for me but I felt like I could watch more just to answer my questions. Nevertheless, TSL is a good cdrama for me 💜💙

Nice, I was waiting for this final review. I started the drama because of the first impression and ended up chasing till the end. I agree the ending wasn't great, it felt like it just suddenly cut off. At least the comedy was gold, needed a good laugh while I suffering through finals week.

Very well done review.👍 I had the feeling they just cut off some scenes as the plot jumps sometimes quite fast or I just missed a bit logic. Especially in the part they showed us the sisters childhood. I never considered Kui as she was described, in the early episodes she looks quite useless, then she redeemed herself in the demon realm. Overall I wasnt a fan of cdrama, however after this one, I am willng to give it a chance :) Especially thanks to the cast I enjoyed it so much . :)

I really like your reviews for chinese dramas. I just finished Starry Love and I agree with everything you said about this drama. Have you seen A Familiar Stranger? Its a short/mini c-drama (10 minute long, 18 episodes). There's definitely some loop holes but I like it. I'd love to hear your review on the plot and especially cinematography since it a short drama and low budget, if you've seen it.

I heard youku have changed the filters on the drama to make the visuals more pleasing, but what a pity is after the drama have officially ended. It will be perfect if the female leads becomes real person finally instead as flowers. The 2 couples works perfectly and it is a shame that everyone have their Happily Ever After ending except for them. Many loving scenes are also removed in the final cut, making us viewers frustrated why important scenes are removed, especially after leaking to us in advance in so many spoliers....probably due to the new 40epi law.

I agree!! This is probably my bias, but I heard that directors sometimes asked the actors to lose weight to look good in traditional robes. So idk why I feel sad when the actors looked too thin. I just love with the casts because they got different kind of figures and all of them are good looking! 😆 I definitely love chemistry between li landi and chen xingxu❤❤

I really agree with all your thoughts and assessment of this drama. It will be on my favorite list as I love it so much, but just under LBFAD. I do think it would have gone to the next level with more thorough world-building and more cinematic thoughtful filming (angles, lighting, etc.) I do want that special episode! There's no reason not to finish it off well.

I never liked LBFD…i started watching it but esther yu voice suck that I hated the drama. I dropped it. I pay netflix for 20 yrs and I wish The Starry Love is in there. I am in love with this drama and I am having a withdrawal syndrome right now.

Thank goodness for people who are on the same page. I also had the same problem - FL’s voice - which made me drop LBFD. High five here. I think casting and voice / dubbing are so important and can make or break a drama.

I think story wise, lbfad has better execution for me, for romance lovers they definitely put the romance heavier there. And better CG and directing for me. But yeah, after watching Starry Love, I agree that even the acting is better the female leads in Starry Love. Esp when she cried her heart out when her sister died, it was dubbing, but it's heartwrenching to hear that I even cried my heart out. There's similiar scene in lbfad where the fl also kill herself, I do think that the ml acted really well, but the fl didn't get me the same feeling. It supposed to be sad, but mostly bcs the directing I felt sad, not bcs of the acting.

The producer cut many cheek and nose kissing of chen xingxu and li landi because he want to sabotage them and promote 2nd CP because they are under his company.. the producer just sabotaged the drama. Even in his weibo farewell post, he just boast about the 2CP which is bad marketing, that makes cheng xingxu and lilandi fans are angry

I really like the character qing heng apart from MAN MAN ( my favorite ) because from the start we can notice he has what an emperor should have the benevolence yet strict value to the people around him. to make the comparison to The Game of Throne who suddenly elected the broken bran to be the ruler. Overall, I really love this drama and happy to see that they are releasing the special episode.

In defense of the 2 antagonists of the show, they are both strong. Just not as strong as the leading 2 characters for very good reasons. Youqin is the Empyrean who has power to seal the Chaos away while the dad can't even do that. As for Yetan defeating Void Emperor, she's basically his kryptonite/golden-head band. She's sucking away his energy in their fight because she's the Void of the Twin Flowers. He stood no chance. And by the time Yetan went on to defeat the Heaven Emperor, she had already absorbed a large amount of Void energy, so she would be as strong as him, if not stronger.

Despite it's short comings, its my favourite xianxia drama now ^-^. Love the good acting and comedy. Perhaps it lacks a worldview, but Xuanshang's values to fully love the 4 realms, then in his second life, to fully love and protect Yetan despite all odds, even to the extend of losing his Empyrean status are admirable and different from a number of xianxia male leads.

SuZhi and Ye Wenjie both want to destroy the world after hurt and betrayal. Integral to the plot. Watching 3 body and Starry Love at same time, balancing the heavy w the light. interesting both had such similar characters. Wasn’t expecting that.

I'm glad a lot of people enjoyed this drama but I could not get into it and it didn't really make me laugh very much. Nowhere near Fairy & Devil for me personally. It's always interesting how different things appeal to different people.

the emperor and Chen Xingxu in particular reallyyyy impressed me. some of those comedic scenes like the public peeing one - never in a million years did i think someone would think of putting those in a cdrama LOOL a 10/10 for the creativity you're so right about the aesthetics and filming. the biggest disservice done to this drama was the directors camera language as you said it. I'm willing to overlook it for the actors and plotlines sake but seriously??? why did they have to give this project to him

comedy twist ending: the girls manifest and everybody is so happy they dont notice theyre in their birthday suits and then the girls turn to each other and each lets out a scream. End. 😂

I think the "background" explanation is based on Ashes of Love? It's kind of, if you watched Ashes of Love, this drama is in theory is based on the "lore". Because in Starry Love you have the "Demon/Void Realm" the "Animal Realm" the "Mortal Realm" and the "Heavenly Realm" and the Chaos door thing was created in the "Flower Realm" when the tree was destroyed (I think that was the idea, because the Black Hole of Chaos was in the same place the tree was growing back, and that place was the original place where she once was.) And the Lotus was Jinmin "form" maybe when her mother died, she died and was mortal the "Flower Realm" became that, but to not use the thousand Realms of Ashes of Love they simplified the "Bird realm" for example as the "Animal Realm" and so on.... So the power balance was divide, because the Heavenly Emperor was the one charging originally the tree, so he was the one destroying, he was in charge, this time the Void Emperor wanted power, so he was the one that wanted to destroy the twins to gain respect from all other realms and be the Supreme Emperor? Maybe? At least that's what I kind of thought... But yeah, that was frustrating....

CXX’s voice reminds me of Dudley Do-Right. Which is so perfect for his Empyrean character. At first, I thought it was ridiculous. Then i realized it was Ridiculous.

Tbh I was sorta glad they didn't 'explain' the world. Sometimes the world is just how it is, you just live in it. Like in real life you dont always b explaining life itself right? So I think that's fine. It was enough. But seriously the ending I completely agree ..tsk tsk they should've just showed the two sisters rematerialized. It just needed one more minute😅.

fr, during the last minutes scenes i kept checking how much time left to the ending, hoping Yetan & Qingkui will reborn as humans, but they didn't. However it's good enough to assure everyone that the twins will definitely come back!

I was waiting for this review... I must say that I enjoyed this drama.. and yes I was not satisfied with the ending scene as I really wanted to see both sisters in flesh... as for the upcoming drama guardians of the lands "shan he biao li" not only Chen zing xu and Nan shan are there but also He xuan lin who played Qing kui😂... but this time love interests changed 😂😂

Two gold mines despite those problems just illustrates how good the good parts are. I'm still in the midst of watching, but I don't mind the spoilers since this kind of story is pretty formulaic to begin with. My takeaway from your review is: Reasons to watch: The acting. The attractive leads. The comedy. The scene writing. Things that have to be forgiven or ignored: The direction. The production values. The plotting. Overall, I'm so into the good things, that I can ignore the bad things. Though I will say, I feel sorry for the actors who play the villains because the poor plotting treats them as mere devices, so they get none of that delicious comedy for themselves.

I love ManMan the most I think she played important role in directing the FL cuz she wasn't actually there like in most dramas that have servant/friend who stupid and just kind there,she did actually support the FL emotionally and physically,even Landi said in her interview that Man was the most loved character by everyone in the drama
