Have you watched the show? He was not a demon god yet, he has the demon bone, if he die, that’s when he turned into a demon god. The 12 gods try to take out the demon god, not the bone, the bone was attracted out by the demons god himself as a backup plan in case the demon god can’t win. Later on, again, TTJ killed himself, not LSS 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

The drama that stood out for me this year was "An Ancient Love Song". As a costume drama it went out of the box and gave us something endearing with lovable characters. It is no wonder it was the best rated costume drama of the year on Douban beating all of those giant projects loaded with money and filled with traffic actors.

To me Only For Love is the absolute worst of them all 😂 I mean, wow, it just went nowhere good and gave me 50 shades of grey movie cringe feel 🙈🙈🙈 I really loved Till The End of The Moon though, so that drama definitely appealed to me with its esthetics (although blood spitting was so over the top, it was funny, agree with you here). I even read the original novel, and I think both actors did the characters justice, and the plot overall followed the original work.

It's funny how I disagree with you about TTEOM in relation to the novel. While I do agree the drama had some merits here and there (mostly 2 leading actors probably) but I think it did a great disservice to a very promising novel. They could take it with all its flaws and make it really work. Instead, they made it even worse. The only good thing I took from it that I read the novel out of curiosity (because I didn't understand the ending at all, and nothing made sense to me) and really liked it.

The best thing about TTEOM was that it made me to read the original novel - as I didn't understand the ending and the characters behavior at all. And I really liked the novel, especially the first part of it - one of the best of the genre I happen to read. So, I am really thankful to it at least for that. And I'm going probably to catch a lot of ridicule here, but I can't help myself. Dear friends, who else is an idiot like me and immensely enjoying the silly romantic b-level romp "Wonderland of Love"? I can't stop watching this damn thing. It's probably the first drama this year which surprised me in such a way (Scent of time is the distant second one). Judging by the posters and descriptions I intended to stay away from this as far as possible, but out of bore decided to give it a try...

I’ve completed a total of 11 dramas this year (Chinese + Korean) and the most memorable one for me was The Starry Love. While the production doesn’t feel as expensive as the other dramas. I did enjoyed every moment of it even the side characters.

She is spreading lyes in purposes because she knows most of her followers don't speak chinese and can't check what she says. In this case in particular, LYX, who has his own agency and is a independient actor, wasn't an investor. That's a fact. She simple does hate him and the show, and many watchers also follows the hate (don't talking here about people who didn't like the show or the actor and continue living normally). In fact, the show is highly recognized by the industry and government, that it could maybe be the reason for the hate?

There were a few action movements which had awful timing speed and this heart/blood CGI that had me go 😲🙄😆. They were enough to throw me out of the moment. But! I was still mesmerized by Tan Jian Ce's absolutely beautiful looks in this drama enough to think about making a phone wallpaper.... but I didn't. I'm way past the age of middle-school fan-girling so I'll just continue to watch him in his various dramas (and conclude that his looks in LYF won't be duplicated....sadly. 😥)

Talking about worst lead characters IMHO, Li Susu is really the worst FL. I found her very annoying. And the ML in Beauty of resilience ( I don't remember his name) like fr he can literally kill the one he loves just because someone orders him to do so. I hated him so much that I wished the FL to end up with the Demon king instead.

For me the only Chinese drama that I loved is THE STARRY LOVE. It's not the best drama out there from the production side and also it wasn't an expensive one, and if we just forget about the director and just focus on the story, casting and the relationship between the characters then I must say that It was so good and especially it was memorable for me cause I've never laughed so much while watching a Chinese period xianxia drama than that one.

I‘ve watched TTEOTM and I really enjoyed the drama, the whole cast, especially the main couple. Sometimes the story is a little bit confusing, especially the end. I like Ming Ye the most. About the main lead actor, I trink, he‘s like a ballerino with his elegant moves and appeareance and for me, his acting is very good. Anyway, anyone has his own opinion. I don‘t see a fraud. One thing I have noticed is that the it seems Chinese production companies have completely given up on producing historical dramas in the vein of Nirvan in Fire, The Advisors Alliance, The Rise of Phoenixes, and The Longest Day in Chang'an? Is there no demand for serious historical dramas in China?

The rise of phoenixes and the longest day in chang’an - in avenueX’s words: beautiful but boring. So pouring in a lot of money and getting not much in return is not a great investment if you can do the opposite. On the same merit, greater expectations greater disappointment, hence why avenueX and the general public would rate low production dramas/underrated drama a lot better as well. So basically, I would say the loud mouth of the internet is also a great contribution to the declining in cdrama lawl

@@appleish5043 I don't mind the low production values. However, there have been almost no Chinese productions that are interesting on the same level as the dramas I mentioned. Almost all the dramas I have checked out based on AvenueX's recommendation during the last few years, I have had to drop due to a lack of interest. Even dramas that I completed, like The Bad Kids, I found somewhat overrated. It wasn't even the best Light On Series (that was Moses on the Plain/Why Try to Change Me Now). Additionally, I think AvenueX never gave The Rise of Phoenixes a fair shot. She dropped it after just a few episodes, calling it a Nirvana in Fire copycat. I strongly disagree with such a description of TRoP. For starters, TRoP has a really great main cast. The chemistry between the actors is such a joy to watch. Moreover, the direction and production design is very good (dare I say, bettern than Nirvana in Fire). If it wasn't for so many plot contrivances in the last quarter of TRoP, I would put it on the same level as Nirvana in Fire Season 1 and maybe The Advisors Alliance. With regard to The Longest Day in Chang'an, I remember her giving it a positive review (doesn't it also have a good score on Douban?). It was only her recommendation that conviced me to watch it in the first place. While I think TLDiC is a seven out of 10 at best, there are still aspects of it that are executed at a very high level.

I loved Wonderland of love that just finished. It was historical with a decent plot and I loved the chemistry of the main leads. It might not have been everybody's cup of tea, but I didn't skip any parts and it had a very satisfying ending episode. I don't really like wuxia or xianxia genres so I didn't watch any of those this year... I love hearing different opinions though

I've enjoyed many of these dramas though! TTEOTM was the 1st Chinese drama I had seen and since then, I've been hooked. Most people are not going to look at these with such a critical eye. Sure you can focus on the cinematography, but ultimately, people watch a drama because of it's entertainment quality and actors. I am also in awe of the beautiful costumes.

I thought "till the end of the moon" was good. the story is supposed to be morally questionable. the most glaring problems for me was the whitewashing of the characters and the decision to air the drama in one season. the whitewashing drastically changed the feel of the story and you can't reconciled the intent behind the action. the one-season airing meant that cuts had to be made and the context of the story suffered heavily. I am surprised to hear that the male lead invested so heavily in the drama. economically, if you expect a huge return, it would be smart to invest in a drama. honestly I am glad he did because the cinematography is actually one of the best I had see in the xianxia genre. the money is going where it should.

You know, Till the end of the Moon made me start watching Chinese dramas especially Xian Xia which I dismissed for years! Me, a K-drama fan. Yes, TTEOTM is my favorite drama just like Nirvana in Fire. I've watched TTEOTM > 5 times and still loved it. It's the story, acting, costumes, special effects not the nitty gritty details of complaints that's so unwarranted. I've never seen such things before, not in K-drama. Thank goodness there are so many other fans who globally love it too as they've never seen such a drama before too!

It was pretty consistent. Not to mention, positive reviews and comments were getting deleted by admins on Douban. This is a fact and was documented at the time. So while reactions were definitely mixed, To say it wasn't popular is not wholly true either.

Saying that high viewership and engagement doesn't equate to people liking it would imply the majority of people were hate watching until the end and I find that hilarious. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there were many who did. But the number of viewers was so high, that it's very unlikely that the vast majority of those viewers were all hating it. Most people are not going to continue to watch if they're not enjoying or liking it. let alone those taking part in positive engagement on Douyin, Weibo and other social media. (In terms of fairness I will admit that there was also negative engagement too) It literally boosted tourism in Bengbu. Merchandise sales were very high too. So if it was that popular, it stands to reason it was liked. It just wasn't liked by everyone. (which is fair enough) Some of the things you described as being horrible I liked. Loved the acting and chemistry of the leads. Really enjoyed the plot (even if it was watered down from how twisted the novel is) Cinematography. Hit and miss, granted. Sometimes beautiful, sometimes forgettable. OST and costumes? Beautiful and refreshing. Editing? hmmm questionable, admittedly.

We can all agree everyone has different preferences for dramas. But a reviewer needs to do their homework and give constructive views/reviews and correct information/updates. This seems like a personal attack on TTEOTM and Luo Yunxi. Calling a drama or someone a fraud is serious and needs evidence to support such a strong accusation. To date there is no evidence that Luo Yunxi is an investor in TTETOM. If there is, it would be great to share the link so that everyone will be satisfied. With luck, you will realize that even if he pours all of his net worth into investment for this single show (not a smart investment decision by the way), the % will not be significant enough to give him any say as an investor. This channel reflects AvenueX personal opinion and review on dramas. But many of this year disappointing dramas have been skipped from this review. First of all I think is not morally right to spread some lies created by C-nitizens in their online forums as Facts towards the International audience without any proofs. Such as LYX investing in TTEOTM and making himself the One Man Show of the drama. He is the Main Male Character, ofcourse the drama focuses on him. AvenueX comment is ridiculous saying that the ML stands out and that's a Problem. Like, he is the ML who should stand out? The 2nd Male lead or other Male characters? That was the most illogical comment I heard in a long time. Is more of a free hate speach against the Actor himself not an actual Critique of the drama or his acting. I think LYX along with ChengYi is one of the few genuine chinese actors who really work hard to do their Wire and Martial arts shots and are able to show genuine acting and emotions. The TTEOTM story wasn't perfect and I can agree with that but that was mostly due to the fact that many episodes have been cut from the original story line. Ofcourse then it came out as choppy. The costumes were exactly as shown in the pictures, there was No hoax, every character wore the costumes in the posters. I agree the makeup could be better, some of the Female leads were ghostly white in some of the shots and LYX eye makeup was too intense at times. And I was upset that they did not kept the ending from the book were they actually meet again. But I have only seen bad reviews on this drama from AvenueX, i understand is not her cup of tea and she had high expectations but is a different story when are made some misleading comments with no proof or logic to support it. A drama not mentioned here which was highly expected and to me it was a disappointment is the Longest Promise. High expectations, poor delivery from all aspects. Only the ML popularity was able to save such an average Xianxia.

The first Cdrama I ever watched was Love Between Fairy and Devil. Being in America I saw it on Netflix almost a year after it was released. It got me hooked. I immediately watched everything that Wang Hedi was in (yes even Miss the Dragon... cough... HOW could they make two of the MOST BEAUTIFUL men in the world - Wang Hedi and Deng Wei, look so washed out and unappealing!) Back to the present, I was so looking forward to Only for Love... what a disappointment. I really feel sorry for Wang Hedi and Bai Lu. Your comments are spot on. I actually watched Romance of a Twin Flower and liked it... mainly because of Ding Yuxi's performance - such a good actor. But the weird camera things - oh yeah - not good.

Only for love has been hit by a smear campaign. But not one to get swayed by brainwashing attacks, I enjoyed it tremendously. Shi Yan is a far cry from Dongfang Qingcang since it's a modern drama and I don't expect Wang Hedi to play the same role over and over. But his portrayal of a stoic, stern and capable CEO who is also a loving, supportive but jealous lover is as fascinating to watch. Bai Lu's Zheng Shu Yi is one of the most interesting female leads I've watched in Cdramas. She is intelligent, beautiful, kind, filial but also self-centered, mischievous, flaky, quirky and naive. She reminds of iconic characters like Lois Lane, Bridget Jones and Scarlett O' Hara. Such a complex character is obviously quite a challenge to portray and Bai Lu pulled it off.

Personally I would have chosen Li Su Su as the worst female leading role, I mean Till The End of Moon was awful and excruciating to watch as a whole but her character I feel like was so indecisive and did so much back and forth that it actually didn’t make sense, though I agree Zhen Shuyi was a close second for me. I almost want to agree with your awards. In my opinion, if I can't get myself to watch a drama again, then I don't think I loved it well enough. Examples of dramas I consider one of the best in the C-industry is The Journey of Flower, The Princess Weiyoung, Ten Miles Peach Blossom, the Story of Yanxi Palace, Rattan, and Ashes of Love. There are some other ones I can't remember now. A journey to love was pretty good.

I think I watched a record low number of dramas this year... I realize it's hard for me to get into period dramas so really it was just contemporary dramas and there were so few good ones. I only watched Meet Yourself, Fake it till you make it, Nothing But You, The Heart, Oh No! Here Comes Trouble, and When I Fly Towards You. All the ones i watched were excellent but there's just so few.... Currently watching The Hope which is also very good so far.

I find her reviews very informative, but calling TTEOTM a fraud is a heavy lift. I am new to Cdramas, and this show was my 4th drama in 2023. I didn’t see this "self-service" she spoke of, to be honest. That show lived rent-free in my head for at least a month and motivated me to watch 5 more dramas this year.

I agree, Till the End of the Moon was such a massive disappointment, especially after the promo trailers of the gorgeous costumes. But I have a candidate for worst overall drama (worst script, ridiculous roles, blatant sexism from both genders, etc): Got a Crush On You. The show is firmly intended for pre-teen audiences, but what a mess. Avenue X warned us, but I watched it in its entirety because I just couldn't stop. It's like watching videos of cats destroying Christmas trees or car crashes. I know how the pitch meeting with female lead Guli Nahza transpired. Producer: "You get to star with Xu Kai Cheng and wear fabulous designer clothes!" Ms. N: "Send me sketches of the clothes." As for Mr. Xu, he needs to go back to playing unlikable but interesting characters. In this drama, he's the kitten that gets stuck in the Christmas tree and has to be pulled out while destroying it. Hai ya! Happy Holidays!

This video feels so cathartic! We've really been through it this year in Cdramaland. Completely agree with the three nominees of the worst male character, and honestly it's a close tie. I still have ptsd from watching 8 episodes of Only for Love, it will haunt me for a long time. Bai Lu's dramas this year were horrific. I've also been disappointed by Xiao Lusi and Dylan Wang overall this year. Ni Ni is one of my favorite actresses ever, but I couldn't get into Parallel World's story unfortunately, and did not really like the ML. This year has been a DROUGHT. Catching up currently with Under the Microscope and so far so good even if at first glance it's not necessarily my type of story, can't get wrong with Zhang Ruoyun.

Why do I have this feeling this rant against TTEOTM is because it's so popular globally? So many ppl outside China do not know the actors at all! Again, I saw this drama accidentally in June whilst helping my Mom in bed and TV was on and we were all suddenly mesmerized! Because of TTEOTM, we started watching old dramas from Luo YunXi and Bai Lu, and started watching Chinese dramas again after Nirvana in Fire, >8 years. Meanwhile, we love Wonderland of Love and Lost You Forever. Thankfully, so many international fans just love watching unusual dramas and not into minute flaws.

This lie was popped up during airing (to reduce its heat/popularity). It came from antis who basically slander LYX and BL based on BTS showing their suggestion on how to film certain scenes. Saying this is proof that LYX and BL are investors of TTEOTM. So just because an actor/actress gives feedback on how a scene should be filmed, suddenly she/he is an investor now? What kind of logic is that? Moreover, she/antis left out BTS where both LYX and BL followed the directions to the T, no qualms. Or how when BL said it’s illogical to spit out blood on this scene because gravity meant blood will cover her whole face while she will be spitting on LYX lol. And if they were investors, guess what? There will be a lot less blood spitting!!!! She picked and chose what to present/tell the international audiences who haven’t watched the show for themselves, see the BTS and make up their own minds. I don't know. I just hated starry love. Firstv10 episodes I loved. Then it went into comedy, that's when I realized this is a comedy making fun of the romance stuff. Everything exaggerated. It was also weird seeing men not wanting to kiss the women. Strangest thing. That stupid light is always shining in every kiss scene. I was thinking. These men do not want to touch lips with these women. Even luo did it. And I can tell you I was shocked.

It’s unfortunate that this year , in my opinion, was such a bummer. I came from kdramas to watch what all the buzz was about . There is so much potential for Chinese cinema with all of its mythology, history, and unique storytelling, but it seems they value quantity and celebrity status over quality . This is the era of Asian cinema taking the world stage due to higher demand and attention from the West and they should take it more seriously. Kdramas have that grit and less of this artificial /superficial vibe. They have really dynamic stories and the actors & team appear more serious about the craft. I suspect the censorship of a lot of things hinders the process too and limits potential. Hopefully 2024 brings in better. Though I don’t agree with all your takes which is ok, we need people to continue being critical and not fall into idol worship and low expectations for the sake of cheap, quick entertainment. Saw a post online and had to watch the commentary myself because I couldn't believe it. What is your source of your claim that Luo Yunxi is the main investor of the drama? Furthermore anyone working or who has actually been in a professional set knows whatever the director says, goes. The actor has little to no input in most cases, their role is to fulfil the desired vision. Besides interpretation of the character, and even so, the director gets the final say. Period. Even IF it were the case that LYX helped fund the project, it doesn't go against any rule as this would be in line with producing. It is beyond just for the sake of "looking good" and "fan appeal". It's sad to say this video will be the last one I'd be watching from your channel.

with so many bad dramas every year churned out fast like high school musicals, I am sure can be hard to judge which dramas were the worst of the bunch.

I didn't see that many dramas and merely check out 以爱为营 because of the flooded negative reviews and holy moly, I backed out fast, cos the drama was about to reconstruct Wang Hedi's whole image in my head. Like I love the guy, but if I have to see the insufferable Shi Yan for just one more minute, I will despise even the actor -_- It gave me the immediate urge to go check 你好星期六 just to remind myself of the real Wang Hedi....

Don't listen to negative reviews. Only For Love has been blackened by unscrupulous netizens. I watched it despite the negative reviews and ended up loving it. I'm now rewatching it and am loving it even more.
