Stick to cars, warmer, dryer, safer, easier to carry the kids and all their stuff around. Less fun but that’s a consequence of being a family man 😂

Always has a soft spot for Suzukis. Favourite bike I ever owned was the GSXR750-K6 - I went into the Suzuki dealership in Slough for a test ride on a second hand R1 and they'd just got the new GSXR model in black and I was like "Yep, OK, I'll have that one please". I had an ancient GSX1100 'Katana' at the time, and on the test ride almost rode the 750 in to the curb it turned so quickly. 6 months later I was invited to a Suzuki event where the engineers had flown over from Japan to talk to the riders and look over the bikes, which was great. The best bit was that I'd been at Cadwell Park the day before so the tyres were shredded, which caused some excitement.

You've had 2 legendary bikes! What came after the 750 K6?

Erm, I got made redundant and had to sell it, and then the next one was another impulse buy, an ex-BSB ZX7RR with the race engine replaced with a long-stroke overbored 7R one with flatslide carbs, shortly followed by a additional Gpz550 for commuting as the RR was such a pig in traffic. Made redundant again, and the Gpz was stolen, then Ducati 900SS (run over while parked), Triumph 900 (fuel leak, caught fire, scrapped), ZX9R (huge accident). At some point there was an RSV1000R in there as well... I think I got the Triumph when it broke down.

Nice bike. I did the first half of that journey this morning. Nice to have the lights working on junction 3 for a change.

Yes it is! It's precarious for all road users when they don't work, but especially for bikers!
