Thanks for the reactions! I just found about about Saiseiga last weekend, and went through the reactions for both albums since then. It's been good to revisit the songs this way, and there are some I wasn't sure about at first but I like more now. I've checked out a good number of Japanese bands, and there's obviously a lot of talent, but not many have songs that really stick with me for whatever reason. Saiseiga is one of them, though, so this has been a great discovery (and I still have to go through their second album in full).🙂

Yes, I agree that the album is pretty consistant. That's why it got so high in my yearlist. I kept on listening to it. I would've used the outro as intro to the album. I guess the band sees it as an round up of the album to complete the "concept" maybe? Overall the album is a great if you are metalfan. Plenty of cool moments and a good performance from the band. Thanks for exploring the album with us.

I agree the instrumental should have been at the beginning. Especially as an extract from it is used in the Strange Rain MV but not in the album version. Very consistent album for me too. But then I like every Saiseiga song on every album. I've just realised that's probably more true of them than any other band. Even with Band-Maid and Asterism, there are songs from their debut albums that I've sort-of learnt to enjoy because of the story they're part of. I haven't had to do that with Saiseiga. My absolute favourite Saiseiga songs are not on The Black Hole (Ambition - from Nostalgia - is their masterpiece for me and I wish it had an MV), but even so there's a quality to it that makes me understand why some view it as their best album. Partly, it has less of the sing-along anthemic rock which I personally enjoy but which is currently out of fashion. But I think The Black Hole is also particularly well produced/mixed etc (notwithstanding your dislike of some of the synth-sound choices, which I can relate to even though they don't bother me).

@@kicorse I'll probably have to check out their debut at some point as well 👍 Not a huge Fan of the anthemic sing-along rock type myself though, so not sure if I'll like it better 😜 Thanks for joining the reactions! 👍
